Yeah, when the car weighs nothing, it doesn't take much power to go fast! It's all about power to weight ratio. These cars come close to the power to weight ratio of Nascar cars weighing 3500lbs with 750hp, these weigh 1025 and use 1.6liter water cooled VW motors, making it possible that they have a better power to weight ratio than Nascar, and they definitely handle better.
My off road race buggy had a weight requirement to be at least 1500lbs, I had to add lead weights. Even at that, a 1776 VW race motor almost had it do wheelies! The light weight makes for better handling too, but it also means once you lose traction, it's unlikely you'll get it back. In off road, it also means higher jumps and softer landings.

I think they're equally skillful, just in different ways. I don't much care for NASCAR, but I do know there's just as much sweat and skill in the top tier of stock car racing as there is in F1.

this is actually one of the things I like about NASCAR over F1. You cant have a hundred people out on the track during the pit. There are only 6 that can cross the wall. To me, that's is much more skillful than this.

Actually, that car seat is more like something out of NASCAR. Probably walk away giggling in anything less than massive structural damage or fire.

Finally, don't let the fact that I compared it to murder let you think that I was being anything other than 100% serious. Honestly, it's exactly equivalent to deliberately ending another human life.

I don't ride trails, but would love to one day. So I still just can't understand why bikers would not take the two cautions following;
1. Recon. Just know the map. I mean, no F1 driver (I can't say Nascar that's just a loop) or any kind of rally/track driver would just drive head-first on a track he doesn't know anything about.

2. Why ride 7-10 feet after eachother? It's not a race, seems dangerous if one guy falls and you have little time to break.
Only reason I see is that the riders after can see what the guy infront does and take notes/lesson, but that seems flawed because this second guy obviously just flew over as well, so that doesn't seem to work anyway.

I remember that car. I miss the days when Jackie Steward was a commentator on the many (non-NASCAR)races I watched when I was young.

I think Top Gear made a good case for NASCAR. I certainly wouldn't dismiss it after that.

while i think the "evil" lurks in the concept of political parties (divide and conquer), you are much more likely to see a republican cheering on a police beating, a lynching, MMA, Nascar, or an invasion by the US Military.
