No, I was making a Matrix deja vu joke.

Do you mean was Gamera the cat? No, he was the giant flying turtle. Gamera was always my favorite of the Japanese giant monsters. I don't have a reason why, he just is.

Jessica Jones is Matrix lite for lesbians who don't want hard scifi.

Daredevil is Batman for new yorkers who don't like fake cities.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a 1970s scifi fantasy medley.

Here are my sources, and each book is filled with thousands of references to peer reviewed published studies.

The Starch Solution, Dr. John McDougall.
Negative Calorie Effect, Dr Neal Barnard.
Power Foods for the Brain, Dr Neal Barnard.
Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, Dr. Cadwell Esselstyn.
Engine #2 Diet, Rip Esselstyn.
How Not To Die, Dr. Michael Greger

This video isn't as detailed as the books, but it's a pretty good introduction http://nutritionfacts.org/video/uprooting-the-leading-causes-of-death/

After reading these, and watching all of Dr Greger's videos, I'm now certain that there is overwhelming evidence showing how bad animal products are for health. So there is no reason to write things in a debatable way, because there is no reason to debate the truth.

We live in the Matrix and it's time for everyone to wake up.

So the 3rd or 4th movies of these franchises were awesome while the sequel sucked?

Aliens vs. Predators I and II were good, while Predator 2 sucked?
Cant' agree whith you there.
Rambo 3 and John Rambo were good and Rambo 2 sucked?
I think they all sucked (except the first).
Jurassic Park 2 sucked while 3 and World were good?
I don't know, but I doubt it.
The Matrix Revolutions? Really?
I may be the only human being who hated all Matrix movies but I read of Matrix fans who wanted to scream at Neo to shut up while watchin M3 in the theatre. :-)

tofucken-the vegan response to turducken

eoe says...

I think the tide of militant veganism is changing. Not that there are fewer of them, but I think vegans are more self-aware now (some proof being in a lot of vegan videos about vegans). Every time I hear people complain about mouthy vegans, I hear many chime in to say that they aren't that way. But then again, hipsters claim they're not hipsters so that may not be a good gauge.

I, personally, don't even mention I'm vegan unless it comes up directly -- and even then I don't continue the conversation unless prodded. I also hope I keep a relatively cool head about it.

As for the religious aspect of it, can you blame them? Just like being indoctrinated with religion from birth, you're indoctrinated from birth to eat meat. And you are constantly socially pressured for your whole life to eat meat. It becomes one of the many pieces that you use to build your sense of self with. And when it's threatened, well, people do what they do with religion, food, politics, etc. They go fucking batshit.

Also, when you first become vegan, you almost always go through a period of ~1 - 3 years feeling like Neo coming out the the matrix and the rage is hard to hide. "How could they do this?!?! They're killing them all!!!" It takes a while to let that cool off and think of more productive ways to spread your views, the best way, I find, is just living the lifestyle peacefully. I like teaching by example.

There isn't anything wrong with vegan food, I love me some samosas and pani puri. I also fully respect anyone's choice to devote themselves fully to vegan-ism.

My only complaint is that vegans tend to go out of their way to make other people, who don't choose to follow the same lifestyle, feel bad for not following the same beliefs. Not all vegans do, but many take it to the same level as religious people, telling people who don't agree with their form of religion that they are going to hell.

That is what I will fight against, as I hate people telling me that if I don't do things the way they think they should be done, arbitrarily. Now making sure you eat animals that were treated humanely before slaughter, I can see that. But cutting them out entirely, based on the idea that someone else believes, not a chance in hell.

Saitama vs Boros full fight

Drachen_Jager says...

I like a lot of anime, but I have to say, this bit embodies everything I hate about anime. This is the reason Matrix II and III sucked, this is why Superman movies always suck. Heroes need limits comprehensible by us mere mortals, otherwise the action just becomes a bunch of incomprehensible garbage (like the above).

the enslavement of humanity

enoch says...

there many forms of enslavement,to wit most people are wholly unaware, either unwittingly or unwillingly.

"none are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free" van goethe.

consider this my friends:
if you accept currency for your labors, where you toil for anothers financial gain.you are literally renting yourself.trading your time, creativity and labors for coin.you are a wage slave and a hundred years ago our ancestors were very aware of this and found it detestable.they literally saw it as a form of slavery.

now as @Lawdeedaw pointed out, there are some protections put forth by our government, along with other governments, but those were not just handed out.they had to be fought for,and many died for those protections.by whom? wage slaves, but in those days they KNEW thats what they were, and proceeded from that premise.

the philosophy of the matrix even addressed this very idea of slavery (yep,i went there).that the majority of the people had become so entrenched and immersed in the system, that to even question the system would illicit a violent and defensive response.they would fight to remain in the system.

just look at our friend @Barbar 's reaction.
even the term "slave" was enough for a visceral reaction.

i am reminded of a doug stanhope routine in where he states " at least i KNOW i am a slave,YOU,however..remain clueless".

so let us take the term "slave" off the table and instead use the dynamic of "power vs powerlessness".

the current systems of power have the majority of people running on hamster wheel of desperation.may it be "pay check to paycheck" or "mortgage and credit cards" or the subtle doctrine of "conform and obey".this could also be "all of the above".

the real question is this:
do you consider yourself free?
because a comfortable slave.....is still a slave.
the term may be dramatic, but it is accurate.

Texas cop choke slams a 14 year old at high school

Lawdeedaw says...

Not to choose his side, ever, because I believe the cop is a brute with no discipline and he was definitely wrong, but it is hard to fire an officer when he acts within the confines of the law. Now 2 points--perhaps the law should not lean so much in their favor, and secondly people who know little of the law will chime in "blah blah I pretend to know the law blah blah." Perhaps there is something in his department's use of force matrix that could get him fired but I doubt it...

robbersdog49 said:

Black, white, whatever. That cop is way, way out of line. On what planet is this the way a grown adult acts, let alone one they give a fucking gun to and power of arrest?

This is bullshit. That cop needs fucking sacking. He's not able to control his temper when faced with a little schoolboy, he's a liability if he's ever needed for proper police work.

The Worst Nobel Prize Ever Awarded

MaxWilder says...

That whole "Matrix" concept makes so much more sense when you consider that the original story was that human brains were used as processors. The whole "body heat for energy" concept is absurd, and derails much of the story's logic.

spawnflagger said:

So... why didn't the robots from 'the Matrix' just lobotomize all the humans, rather than building a complex simulation?
