Praise, praise, treats, treats, praise, praise. I had a 26 pound Maine Coon and can attest to their smarts.

Maine coon's are my favorite breed.
Friends have had a 36 pound and a 32 pound coon cat. Not fat either.
Maine Coon Cat Opens Door!
I shared a house with a couple who owned a Maine Coon. It took us a while to bond but I grew quite fond of him. Very sweet and intelligent animal, didn't like to be held all that much because he was so huge. But he liked to come sit near me while I worked. Then like two days before I moved out he sprayed diarrhea all around underneath my desk!
This cat is VERY tolerant of the baby
I had a cat like that... Zuzu.
She was a Maine Coon, but the runt of her litter. She grew to an astonishing length (maybe 2.5ft) and weight(~18lbs). She was the sweetest cat. She would purr so loud you could hear it across a room. My parents got her when I was 2, after our first cat died from leukemia.
The vet called us and said he had an extra sweet cat, unfortunately my sisters answered the phone when he called so my mom did not have a way out. She called my dad hoping he would say no.
But I got on the phone and said something like, "Daddy, I named her Zuzu". And it was over. She lived 23 years despite having diabetes, a consequence of her old age. Towards the end of her life my father would give her insulin shots in the morning and evening every day.
Not a day goes by that I am not thankful to have known her.

Maine Coons I hear are the coolest cats. Almost as cool as me. Mrow!
Maine Coon Cat Opens Door!
I'd love to get a Maine Coon. My friend had one that I could bare wrap my arms around and stood almost as tall as my knees. The biggest domestic cat I'd ever seen. This one is quite large too.
Maine Coon Cat Opens Door!
I'm dying to get a Maine Coon, but unfortunately my roommate is very allergic and the cat isn't going to pay half the bills.
Maine Coon Cat Opens Door!
If I ever had a cat, it would definitely be a maine coon, love their long fur and they seem so much bigger than other cats (even though they're really not)
