I see he's been to the Hugh Laurie school of american accents, looks fun though. They've got to find some way to introduce him to Martin Freeman's Everett K. Ross, those two are adorable together.

Hugh Laurie is supposed to be some kind of whacked out Walt Disney in this movie, that, I would pay to see.

No kidding. The audition is notable because he nailed the American accent so well that the director forgot/didn't realize that it was Hugh Laurie, but he was quite well known before that. In fact he was on location filming a movie, and he apologises as that being the reason for his haggard appearance. Another happy coincidence, as they decided such a look was great for House.

And Hugh Laurie before House. He'd become a star about 30 years before.

I was expecting a Hugh Laurie viral.

One of my favorite shows ever. Whatever was wrong with Episodic, hyperbolic, American television was also set right on most episodes of House. It was continuously strong, even stronger and more consistent than a great television show like Buffy (my favorite of these sorts of shows).

If anything Hugh Laurie should now do a victory lap with Stephen Fry by his side for a funny American television show. I think everyone would love that.

I was hoping first for a Travel Documentary in the vein of Fry in America. Just have them traveling about for a bit and chatting about their lives and meeting new people. Wouldn't it be funny watching to giant Englishman stomp around East Asia or somewhere cool? I think so, and it would be a nice little trip for Laurie after House, which had a decent enough ending in my view.
After that I demand some comedy though.

I don't know, it seems Michael Palin has already pretty much covered the world already.


He does a good job, but I honestly like travel programs that have a gimmick like motorcycles (Long Way Round) or Cars (Top Gear specials) and have more than one person. I get bored with one person, how people interact with eachother while on the road is much better and I can imagine Fry and Laurie would be amazing at it.
