Marijuana: It’s Time for a Conversation
>> ^BillOreilly:
weed is for weak-minded fools, liberals in particular
I would never count someone a friend who had the immaturity to smoke a mind-altering drug
Yeah! Wasn't it Rush Limbaugh who advocated life sentences for pot users, while pounding down handfuls of illegally procured pharmaceutical narcotics!
I don't suppose you have any friends that smoke or drink either since both tobacco and alcohol are mind-altering drugs. You should probably avoid chocolate, and caffeinated beverages as well.

That part about "marijuana" vs "cannabis" pretty much sums up the whole debate. By the way, I've heard hemp is different from marijuana. Is that just BS? Same plant, right?
They're the same family of plant, but they're not the same plants. Kinda like how the different varieties of roses are all the similar plants but they're not the same. If you tried to smoke industrial hemp you wouldn't get high, and would probably get sick. Industrial hemp is only good for producing fibers and seeds. And IIRC it is also an excellent CO2 processor.
Interesting tidbit, hops the plant that flavors beer is a member of the cannabis family. Remember that next time some beer swilling shit head starts bitching about pot smokers.
Marijuana: It’s Time for a Conversation
Pretty weak, but if somebody would follow this up with more technical information and comprehensive study results, it might be a decent introduction. We really need to reach the people who are scared by politician's rhetoric, and they might not be open to statistics right off the bat.

Upvote for the terrible acting from the studio "audience".
I was a little disappointed they didn't mention that the oil, timber, and cotton industries were behind much of the early marijuana prohibition. Industrial Hemp, something you wouldn't want to smoke, was the primary target of early legislation, the government used the propaganda about reefer to distract the masses.

Would undoubtably help our ailing economy - tourism, hemp byproducts, savings/redirection of funds wasted on enforcement, prosecution and punishmnet...

Plus the others they said. Such a dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb PSA. I hope the people that made this are attacked by the (most assuredly) displaced insects that eat cannabis, since from watching this video they will be unstoppable lunatic killing machines till they get their fix* back. DEATH TO THE UP-ROOTERS!
*Warning: "Fixes" caused by delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol may in fact be nearly harmless usually causing short-term memory problems and short-term comprehension and perception changes in humans and provide a delicous meal for insects.
The future of agriculture is indoors
he is right. but the meat industry will use it to grow cow feed, and then they will adapt the system to grow genetically mutated legless cows, and then we're all fucked.
if they'd grow hemp in there though...
Ron Paul on The War on Drugs
also, just in regards to the hemp part?
marijuana is cannabis sativa. every stoner knows that.
hemp is cannabis oglalas. different species.
we're the only industrialized nation to continue to ban industrial hemp.
even though one of the many things you can make with it, is plastics.
the other thing we currently use fucktons of oil to do.
and few are willing to mention that, because we know plastic is the only way we can afford most of what we have.

^I tend to like having Democrats (and Liberals in general) as my closest friends, because they're genuine and their heart typically is in the right place. They make great friends. But in terms of critically analyzing policy, they are terrible. And, they tend to cling blindly to their party or beliefs without admitting fault.
I feel the same exact same way about Libertarians, except that most Libertarians (bf and cp excluded) have a very vague understanding of what libertarianism is in the first place. Don't tell me you don't know who I'm talking about either. He's usually a hemp enthusiast.
Ron Paul interviewed by The Real News
i have never been in a fight, but some of my friends have.
strangely (or should i say obviously) only the big tough friends get in fights.
even more strangely (or should i say obviously), every fight i have witnessed has been based on social protocols rather than purely on force.
anyway, upvote for hemp. anything the oil guys don't like is probably a good thing at this point.
Ethanol: Silly Senator, Corn is for Food!
hemp. kthxbye.

"We will need a lot more hemp before we're through."
The comments were actually funnier than I thought. Definitely watch this even if you have to fast-forward a bit.
Decriminalizing marijuana - what say you? (Drugs Talk Post)
Marijuana should be decriminalized, and subsequently legalized for several reasons. 1. If marijuana were made legal, then that lifts the restrictions on hemp, of which the benefits are enormous. Alternate fuel, cloth, manufacturing, the list goes on and on. 2. Marijuana is not a "gateway" drug; if anything, alcohol contributes to more people moving on to harder drugs than anything. Using marijuana as the scapegoat for the progression to other drugs is downright ludicrous. 3. I have yet to see aggression linked to marijuana in any way, shape or form. Want a bar fight? Add alcohol. Want to see everyone relaxed? Add marijuana. 4. Artists, philosophers and the like have used marijuana for centuries to aid in introspection and critical thinking. Yeah, I went there. Why would anyone want to stop you from examining yourself and your own reality? Either those who can't, those who are unwilling or those who want control.
I could go on and on regarding the benefits. With all that said, I do agree that operating machinery of any kind should not be tolerated as accidents can occur due to slower reaction times, less focus and inattention directly attributed to marijuana when under its influence. A "breathalyzer" or instant test would be imperative in order to determine if a user were under the influence simply due to marijuana's different morphology. I also believe that 100 grams is excessive. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should have almost 1/4 pound of marijuana. Even those who would use to medically. One ounce (28g) is plenty enough.
I'm all for it. It certainly would be a boost to our sagging economy.

those us of us with guns and religion are not exactly "clinging" to anything. WTF does that snarky comment even mean anyway? Even though I'm a tree-hugging organic-food eating, hemp-wearing liberal, I sometimes don't blame neo-cons for their nasty attitude. With comments like that, who needs rationale? Just be snide and condescending.
