definitely, goes into a lot of detail with minimal ranting - overall it beats down a large array of theist arguments and does it succinctly. Kind of reminded me of a Yahtzee game review because of the lack of any form of pause.

This isn't a game review, this is a campaign review. Dammit Yahtzee, do you never play online? Bitch about the god-awful matchmaking, the shitty hit detection, the fucked-over sniping, and general fucktardedness of ragequitting hosts and failed migration.

@Deano - people feel that when they pay good money for a product, they are entitled to a good product. If you paid a lot of money for a car, and the car was shit, you'd return the car. In a lot of situations you aren't allowed to do that with games - i've been refused many times because my game has an online component. Of course, i never used the online component but they don't believe that story and why should they?

We can't even rely on big games reviewers to be honest about the games they review because they're either taking fucking bungs from games companies or they're so used to shit games that they think everything is 5 out of 5, and unless you think that every big game released from every big company is a perfect 5 stars out of 5, you can't really argue with that.

I would never say "if you're not happy with something, steal it!" But i can completely understand why people would, especially when you back them into a corner where you're forcing them to gamble on a game - oh you don't like that pitiful excuse for a game that was voted 5 out of 5 by all top reviewers? Too bad, no refund.

I wouldn't be so quick to tow the corporate line though dude, if you take a deep look at music downloads (illegal and otherwise), the jury is STILL out on whether illegally downloading music helps or hinders sales. When 'industry' says "We've lost 10 million this year on illegal downloads (((" they are making the assumption that every person who downloaded something would have bought it if they'd not been able to download it. And you simply can't assume that, there's no evidence for it. But there are people who downloaded it, liked it, bought it - and that IS provable.

@Ryjkyj - i agree with you on that one, i thought oblivion was balls. I never got into morrowind because i felt it didn't give me enough direction/motivation to go and do things (play it), but i do know that it was a well made game even if i didn't like that single aspect.

Bioshock 2 was very good. Yahtzee just likes to be a whiney tart. As far as I can tell, the real reason why people don't like the sequel is the fact that they're taking part in an established universe. Really, what made Bioshock incredible was the fact you're in a totally alien atmosphere. Once that initial feeling of wonderment has worn down, the story WILL seem less original and the game less inspired.

The action(with prep for little sister harvesting fights) took a great improving leap from the original gameplay. The change to hacking is understated in this video... since changing it to quicktime events means that the hacking is realtime in game, making hacking more challenging. The point of the sequel was not to expand on the universe but to offer more depth of the world, which was certainly done. It wasn't as long as I hoped but it was certainly very entertaining.

I never take Yahtzee's reviews seriously and I wish more people would do the same, he is objectively one of the worst game reviewers I know of. He's very entertaining(!) however he (1) nitpicks like a bratty kid, (2) reviews games without regard to the game's merits(i.e. multiplayer) and (3) ALWAYS comes off negative because well, hey kids, that's why Yahtzee is popular and that's how he's making those dollar bills.

I think it's been pretty clear for a while that IGN has been getting paid off. They consistently post the earliest reviews and clearly get advanced copies before anyone else - that simply doesn't happen by magic. If bribes were happening, then this would clearly benefit both parties. Publishers could ensure that the pre-release buzz for their product is positive maximising that all-important early take-in and the gaming site would see a huge influx of visits when it is the only one providing the opinion.

I'm sure they're still willing to call a spade a spade when push comes to shove, but if it's on the cusp, I bet they'd have no problem with either pushing up to an 8.0 (which seems to be the magic number for worth buying), or inflating it up in the magic 8.0 to 10.0 range if enough money were to change hands.

Maybe, this is just the ramblings of a paranoid but the whole Kane & Lynch fiasco, purely judgement based notions of what games deserve and this seems to all but confirm it in my mind:

What would be interesting if someone did a comparative study on the major gaming review websites and the scores they give across different publishers, I would hardly be surprised if that confirmed it.

I still enjoyed ME2, I just found it rather light. I wanted ME2 to be Mass Effect Extreme, not Diet Mass Effect.
I was surprised to find out people had such problems driving the MAKO. I had a blast with that thing. I loved that you could land on any planet and drive around, I just wish more of those planets had something on them to discover. To me, they "fixed" planetary exploration completely backwards: they removed the fun part (exploring) and featured the boring part (there's nothing on any of the planets). If you didn't like the handling of the MAKO, that's a separate issue, IMO. I would have been fine with a completely new vehicle so long as the exploration was still an option.

I've heard that the MAKO was really tough to control on the consoles, where the MAKO followed the turret, while on the PC you can move the MAKO and turret independently. I do agree the MAKO was fun, though the things you encountered were a bit bland and generic. This mineral scanning thing is terrible, why not have the onboard AI EDI do in a microsecond what takes you minutes. Instead of ditching the MAKO thye should have just improved the variety of planetary exploration.
I also hate that they removed the weapon statistics and that there are only something like 20 different weapons. Also you can't customize your squad's armor anymore. I wish they wouldn't have simplified this game so much to please the console generation.
Still I'm having fun with it, but I doubt I'll buy the third one.

Last thing I really can't stand how game review sites always praise overhyped games to death. Just look at the metacritic site. A third of the ratings are a perfect 10 and another third 9+. Same thing with Dragon Age
Are there any honest review sites?

^was a bit boring for the funnies, but it was spot on as a game review.

I played a bit, and enjoyed it as a cinematic experience.

You DO run around shaped rooms jamming JUMP/USE to try and find the next ledge/switch. And you definately does have the sticky terrain problem which really does fling you out infront of enemys.
Afte 15 minutes my enjoyment factor was in negative territory.

My mate tells me its awesome later on, but...I dunno. I think my standards for controls are set at PC game, and I cant settle for console controls.

I wonder if he even finished it? I wish he commented on the gun-fights.
