Fish ladder, Smish ladder---
Apologies SFOGuy, I was trying (emphasis on trying) to be funny. I fail at this attempt more often than not. To my knowledge one can't add a soundtrack to a video w/o sound. But hey that'd be pretty cool - good idea!
The soundtrack of my intent was to be Jump by Van Halen(if you middle-mouse on my link it should open up the link to that song in a different tab while still keeping your video playing in the current webpage tab, at least with Firefox). When I saw the fish flying out of the tube in slo-mo it just popped into my head.
How does one add a soundtrack to a sifted video? or would you have the dupe the Youtube video, add a track, repost, then change the link?
And more interestingly: what soundtrack?
Beastie Boys Vs. The Muppet's
I suspected an ad or script block addon doing it, but videosift is whitelisted on those on my desktop browser. Completely disabling them didn't fix it, and my notebook, which runs Linux, has Firefox and the same addons was also doing it. It turns out it was the EFF's Privacy Badger addon doing it, which I only installed a couple of days ago. That's weird since it only blocks 3rd party trackers. I wonder if UMG is trying to pass some kind of 3rd party cookie through the video embed which is setting it off.
It must be something specific to your setup, like perhaps something installed on your computer or in your browser. Have you tried it with another browser?
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Native Advertising
@ChaosEngine
A bit off-topic, but you can get access to Netflix in pretty much any country that has internet access if you use the Hola unblocker extension for either Firefox or Chrome. We use it here in Japan with my old PC hooked up to our HDTV via HDMI and love it.
More on-topic, this video is specifically addressing news--no one is willing to pay for news because thanks to the Internet and all the ways we can interact with it (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), "news"--as in just the facts--is freely available in seconds moments after it occurs.
Of course, really good reporters don't just provide the facts but also provide background, context, and sometimes insightful analysis of the situation. But I'm not sure the majority of people care about that stuff which is why hiding it behind a paywall just isn't profitable.
I don't know what the solution to this problem is. We need veteran reporters who are free to report on the happenings in the world without external pressure to change or hide facts. Someone has to pay their salary. Right now it's corporate sponsors that are ponying up. Even NPR receives a pretty hefty chunk of its funding from corporate sponsors. Like John is saying in this video, it's not really a problem if there's a wall between the sponsors and the news.
Maybe publicly funded news is the way to go? Something akin to BBC but that's legally insulated from government influence and provides "free" (you'd technically be paying for it with your taxes) news reporting.

Hihi,
I was just wondering, if it is just me OR - whenever I promote a video of @PlayhousePals, it does not show up any bigger than any normal video on the page. Everything else that's under 'Featured *Promoted Video' shows up bigger (when I flip throgh the 'Next Featured Video'... I tried this on Firefox, IE and Chrome, and they ALL show her video as 'normail' size.
Thanks:)
EDIT: The same with lv_hunter 's video:

No Flash video when logged in? (Geek Talk Post)
No you can get RC/Nighty builds from the Firefox site. Mine is from the beta channel.
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/#beta
I think though I got mine via portableapps.com since I always use a portable version so I easily back it up and move it to a USB stick if need be.
Are you a tester?

Fine here on Firefox 30. Who's using Internet Explorer? Ain't nobody got time for that.

its a Firefox issue for me. Worked fine in Chrome
Weird. It's loading for me (and annoyingly auto-playing).
Anyone else having a problem or have an alternate embed?
Anyone Else? No Option to Repair Embeds (Wtf Talk Post)
I can still see the option - in Chrome and Firefox.

We use the "Hola Unblocker" extension for Firefox or Chrome. It's free, bypasses the region blocking, and doesn't slow down the streaming at all. Been using on U.S. Netflix from Japan for over a month now with no problems.
Haven't seen House of Cards yet though. I'm still working through Breaking Bad which only has released up to season 3 here in Japan.
I have to say that when I first heard they were remaking House Of Cards, I was dreading it.
There is no way that "Frank Underwood" could possibly hold a candle to Francis Urquhart, I thought.
But every clip I've seen makes me think this could be worth watching.
Now if only netflix would drop their ridiculous region blocking, I have some monies for them.

It seems that my votes only count if I am logged in, most of the time anyway. I've tried voting before at different computers without logging in and most of the time it shows the vote as working, but if I open a different browser to the video link (firefox to chrome, for example) it shows that the vote did not register.
I first noticed it when I was on my Nexus 7 and didn't feel like typing in my password, later I noticed the video had not went up in votes. Then I figured it might be because it was on the same router as my computer and it was to prevent people from 'gaming the system' and doing multiple votes for themselves. I then tried it on some of my friend's computers at different times and it was repeated there. It seems to be hit or miss, sometimes the vote counts and verifies in another browser, sometimes it doesn't.
For instance, today I tried to vote on http://videosift.com/video/How-did-the-car-appear without logging in. It showed the upvote in firefox, but in chrome it showed that it still had 9 votes. I logged in and voted and it went to 10, which chrome verified. I don't think it is a time delay either, because as soon as I am logged in and vote it goes through immediately.
Anyway, I thought you might want to investigate it. If someone has already pointed it out or I am just seeing issues that are not there, ignore this.
Guy bashes on the new youtube comment system
For me I don't even see comments any more when using Chrome. They appear on Firefox though.

I have the latest flash (11.9.900.117) and latest Firefox (24.0). That said, I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the flashblock extension. Normally I just click on the flash I want want to play (or on the rare occasion that doesn't work, "copy flash location" and go directly to the source, then click to play) but in this case neither works. Thanks anyways.
It could be html5, I've tried to disable as much of that as I could in firefox, but this is the first video that I could not get to play at all anywhere.
Seems like your browser isn't able to play Flash. Does that sound right? Most videos are now HTML5, but that one is from some unknown host that uses Flash.
Is anyone else getting muted embedded Vimeo videos on VS? (Wtf Talk Post)
Many people are having this problem with YouTube: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/youtube/firefox/ETfCgHO4MhU ...
But I am having problems with Vimeo.com. Huh? Weird!
How odd. I'm getting muted youtube videos but the vimeo ones are perfectly fine for me. For each youtube video, I am having to unmute each time, and I am having the same problem when watching directly on youtube as well.
