People are so concerned about socialized medicine, tax cuts and raises, terrorism, everything the media tells them they should be concerned about. Where's the fucking concern for things that really have a detrimental affect on our society, our government? I'm really glad that Fark won out on this, but that's a very very rare exception to the litigious rule. Ugh.

Gas may be involved in alot of fires, but that wont stop firefighters from using water as the main fighting component. It may not stop gas from burning, but usually its everything else burning the firefighters have a problem with.

I am not really THAT impressed with the clip, the guy has a shatter proof face mask on and fire retardent gear, he prolly felt nothing more then a slight pop. I would have kept working as well..after all I'm the guy with a big farking hose of water, I prolly would be like "Oh you want a piece of this?!"

No disrespect to firefighters though, both them and police (when not harassing blacks on the sidewalk) put their LIVES on the line, so props as always.

If you only want videos for the masses then hang your hat at Reddit, or Digg, or Fark, etc. If you want videos for the masses AND videos with limited or niche appeal, then this is the place. Sometimes I think we have too many videos being imported from Reddit, Digg, and Fark. I believe it makes us less distinctive, however I'm only speaking for myself. Regardless of what kinds of videos any one member likes, it's all about people's tastes and the votes. People will post what they want, and people will vote for what they want. That's the basis of how this place works. Outside of porn or snuff anyone can post what they want, and we all have the right to upvote or downvote. You can't make people post more of what you'd like to see, nor can you compel them to vote one way or another.

It's as simple as that. Some members have left here because they stopped liking the video selection, but what are you going to do? Beg everyone to start posting more of what one or two members like?

Sometimes when the Top 15 looks like it was scraped from Reddit I leave for a little while, mostly out of boredom. But then I'll come back, usually because I feel like making fun of @rottenseed's tiny penis. So I guess the community is just as important to me as the videos. And dick jokes.

Seems like a cool idea with a certain amount of utility, but nothing that is going to take over the world by storm.

Metadata and data sharing are over-hyped ideas in my mind. Right now, I have a set of a few videosift tabs open, some "to-do" tabs with Blue's News and Fark, and some tabs looking up information on new versions of some software I use (Winamp).

I could apply metadata tags to those groups or sets, but doing so would be a completely pointless waste of time. I am the only person that cares, and if I can't simply remember why I opened those tabs in the first place without tagging them, then they couldn't have been that important to begin with.

Still, the Tab Candy idea seems to have been properly designed with the user in mind, and will have enough organizational utility to be worth trying out. Possibly even the meta-tagging and set-sharing features, in a few very specialized situations.

It makes me sick to think that even in such obvious and desparate times of catastrophe, we are unable to trust our leaders to work for the community. This is not an Obama thing. Do we think it would have been any better under a Republican govt? No chance!
I really hope that these people do defy the law and continue to do whatever they can to contribute to the least farked outcome.
