Vox: Why gamers use WASD to move
Man, I remember others and I played Q2's FreezeTag mod (met Doolittle in person), Q2's CTF, Action Quake2 (AQ2), etc. at my college's LAN parties (why did they start on my last day of college? haha).
I never played against Thresh but Quake 1/2 TF/CTF/Death Match and Half-Life 1 TF/CTF/Death Match are among the best gaming years I've had during my teens.
I really miss those early glory days of FPS.
Every Best Visual Effects Winner. Ever.
My reaction was exactly the same. The cut from Dr Doolittle is like woooooooosh. On reflection though those scenes don't have that much going on in the way of special effects - to me its about really amazing set/prop design, lighting and directing. The way the light shines on Bowman's eyes... I don't think that is an accident and I suppose you could argue it was a visual effect.
Really amazes me how far before it's time 2001 was. The winners for the next 10 years or so were, honestly, crap in comparison.
Cat is really happy to welcome her owner home after 3 days
I've come up with the following possible reasons for the owner's strange silence:
* the owner is mute/deaf
* the owner is Spock/unemotional
* the owner is a telepathic version of Dr. Doolittle and was speaking to the cat throughout the entire clip
Any others?

Chimpanzees raised in captivity are usually taught to communicate using hand signs from ASL. Anyone here know sign language?
No but I have a good guess at what pointing to an object and then pointing to your palm means.
And to the idiots calling me Dr Doolittle. My whole point is that this is pretty obvious and I'm not claiming to be Dr Doolittle but someone who can observe an event and distinguish my own perception from the psychological priming (the description).
Brave Kitten Stands Up to Huge Dog
>> ^papple:
I'd like to think you're right, Quboid, but it really looks to me like that cat is quite scared. I also don't like the way it was motioned towards the dog.
The people weren't the most sensitive, and they were trying to get a reaction from the dog or the kitten. That I don't agree with, so whatever I say next I don't think the people were right.
However, I tend to agree with Quboid here. The cat isn't scared, it's curious and unsure. If it was scared it would run away. Retroboy has never seen a cat play looking like that, but I'm betting he hasn't been living with and breeding cats for ten years like I have.
I'm not doctor doolittle, but I do know cats. At the end of the video the cat isn't too happy and is slinking away. The situation isn't the cleverest, but that's not a really scared kitten. Domesticated animals like this don't have the same reaction to situations that a wild animal would have. That need to be fearful has been largely bred out, to the detriment of a lot of cats. The phrase curiosity killed the cat most certainly has it's origin in fact!
The body language and behaviour both animals was playful. I think a lot of the animosity toward this video is from people not really understanding what they're seeing. That is not a scary dog, at least not when it's behaving like that, and a scared cat will run away - it's not cornered!

Gwiz665? You need some basic social decorum lessons alla Liza Doolittle-Doesn't appear given your geographical orientation and command of a conversation that you get out a whole lot. (Note the defensive posturing of the accused in light of hard evidence and/or disagreement of any kind with his position)-schoolyard shenanigans.
Qualm? He won't leave, and he won't become any more interesting nor will his overall raw, untrained incivility falter. Feel sorry for him but don't knock his ice cream cone in the sand for good measure-From the looks of his past with other users,he ain't gonna take any advice, good, bad, or otherwise.

If anyone has a problem with this, take it up with @dag or @lucky760. Maybe they'll give a fuck, but I don't.
And don't worry, choggie. I'll ban the rest of your sockpuppets when I feel like it.

I gotta say, I thought this one would be sifted pretty fast. The best scene from a pretty good movie, and IMHO makes up for Dr. Doolittle.

Hmmm... I believe this is self-linking. It's Miss Doolittle's shameless self trying to promote her life story! For shame...
