And another big court loss, this another in the LONG string of failed prosecutions over the Steele dossier…every one either tossed out for not even being crimes or, more often, found not guilty of the ridiculous charges by juries.
John Durham has proven another maggot fraud a fraud by trying to prosecute non crimes. Every case lost….EVERY….SINGLE….ONE!
Typical.
Since you love to whine that the January 6 committee costs money for an investigation of serious treasonous crimes you don’t want investigated, I wonder what you think about wasting millions upon millions investigating and prosecuting this stupid nonsense about the anti Trump dossier created by his REPUBLICAN opponents, then later sold to Clinton’s campaign? There was no crime there….at all. Just sour grapes that someone said something bad about Trump…so of course they abused their authority by inappropriately investigating and prosecuting their “enemies”….and lost every time in court because it wasn’t a real prosecution, it was a persecution. That’s the Trumpist way.

Now like Patel, go whine and claim the justice department somehow threw the cases (they weren’t involved) and “maybe it’s not worth fighting anymore”, which is true, but because you never had a case to prosecute and juries saw right through the nonsense, not because of some conspiracy protecting Trump’s enemies, like the talking heads are claiming today. This was a pure malicious prosecution of political enemies, the politicization and weaponization of the Justice dept by Trump.

Now….how about that Ashley Babbitt?!? Good kill, right? Shouldn’t have fucked with police…right?

Ghomert Asks If Forestry Department Can Change Earth's Orbit

newtboy says...

Bobby, you are such a dishonest and gullible tool.

You had to go back over a decade to find one Democrat say something 1/2 as dumb as what Republicans put forth daily and as their party stance....and at the time "Johnson's office said that he was a tremendous deadpan and used a facetious metaphor to draw attention to the potential negative impact caused by the addition of 8,000 Marines and dependents to an island of 180,000 people." He never thought you could capsize an island.

So, an obvious joke about overpopulation "capsizing" an island vs an actual inquiry about the forestry dept having the ability and authority to change our orbit. Ghomert was NOT joking....he's a moron and it's time for him and any other moron who believes the big lie but doesn't believe science to walk away from politics.

When your team claims Jewish space lasers cause most forest fires, they aren't joking. When they say Democrats derive magic power from eating live babies, it's not a joke. When they claim that all mass shootings are false flag hoaxes and the dead are fake people, they aren't joking. When they say vaccines contain tracking microchips and mind control serums, they aren't joking. When they go off about the horrors of large corporations buying up property to rent out while making big profits by calling that socialism, they aren't joking. When they say Italian satellites magically changed paper votes from space, they aren't joking. When they say long dead Hugo Chavez rigged the election from beyond the grave, they aren't joking. When they say you should inject bleach to fight a virus they say is a hoax, they aren't joking. Time for your party to walk away from politics and directly into a mental ward, young and old alike.

So sad that's the best you guys have got. Cry me more of those sweet sweet tears of anguish.

How Road Barriers Stopped Killing Drivers

moonsammy says...

It was quick, but I'm pretty sure 11:56 answers a question I'd had for years, but never actually bothered to look up. Every so often I'd see a parked highway dept vehicle with a big, fairly flat object lowered to a horizontal position behind it. Barrier makes *way* more sense than any of the hypotheses I'd imagined.

LA Coroner Defies Sheriff, Releases Andres Guardado Autopsy

cloudballoon says...

I find the argument that a good apple shouldn't even be in the policing business (i.e. guilt by association) problematic. My argument would be: If I'm a good apple, I'd be all for reforming and fumigating out all the bad apples! Bad apples don't deserve to tarnish my good reputation nor my silence (i.e. as good as complicity), ESPECIALLY since there are -- ahem -- "only 0.01%" of them in the force! Isn't that the logical and moral sentiment?

My concern about focusing the debate on the ratio of "Good apples vs. bad apples" is that it's fraught with pitfalls. Without "big data" (because the System won't ever allows such transparency), that "ratio" is subjective. It's just an excuse for politicians and legislators to wiggle out doing anything.

The argument should be that a fair, just and functioning society should punish each and every bad apples to protect the good apples and its citizens. We shouldn't tolerate any bad apples, no matter the "ratio"... police depts & judges SHOULD be exemplary in their knowledge and adherent to the law, NOT the other way around. How else should a people trust its government?

Besides, if what they say is true -- that the "bad apples are few and far between" -- there shouldn't be much consequence to prosecute them all right? It must be worth reforming to salvage the far-to-damaged reputation right? It would be a moral booster for BOTH the police & community IMO.

Joe Rogan Talks Police Reform w/ Andrew Schulz

bobknight33 says...

The social contract is obey cops when asked. When this does not occur things escalate. Sadly both sides has amp up over the decades. Now both sides have lost control, respect and have distrust for each other.

Don't need to banning police dept just publicly change with both sides agreeing.

I propose, in big broad strokes.
No one goes to jail unless a serious crime murder, armed robbery or a warrant is out on you.

IF pulled over, be cool, comply, knowing nothing will result in arrest/ jail.

If you have a dime bag, kilo coke, etc, I don't care, they take it and fine you the value also. Also the right to gather you address and those with you. Then because e of your offense the PD ( where ever you live or moved to) has a 6 month right to knock and cursory search of your residence ( and those with you). Same deal they find, take anything illegal and fine of equivalent value. LB of weed, Kilo of coke I don't care. Take and fine. Guns take and if used in crime then warrant for arrest. Finding stuff allows cops to stop by again with in 6 months and now have right for thorough search. Same deal search, take and fine. If 3rd search occurs and find stuff then criminal charges filed if heavy drugs or amounts found.

With this in place no would / should put up a fight. Cops not to make arrest, populate jails or f over people with high court costs.

This should help change bad behavior, let minor crap slide, and bad dudes land in jail fair and squarely.

Actually, that's not right, Interior does handle management of natural resources & public land, but the forest service specifically is handled by the Dept of Agriculture.

Yep, you're right. Dept of the Interior handles local government/policing/national security issues.

TITANS - Official Trailer - DC Universe

ChaosEngine says...

jesus.... how do they keep fucking this up?

I'm a 40-year-old guy who grew up on DC comics. I have a shelf full of them. There are one or two Marvel titles, but really they were never my thing.

And yet, I've seen nearly every MCU movie and only 2 DCU movies, and only one I actually enjoyed.

FFS WB, this isn't that hard. It's not even like you haven't done it before... just animated.

Batman animated, Justice League, Teen Titans... they all had elements of the "dark and gritty" but they were fun! They certainly weren't an absolute clusterfuck like this nonsense.

Just stop. Please... just give it a rest.

Give it to the animated dept, or the guys who made the Arkham games, anyone but the muppets in charge of this shitshow.

Unarmed child shot in the back while running from police

Mordhaus says...

Under U.S. law the fleeing felon rule was limited in 1985 to non-lethal force in most cases by Tennessee v. Garner.

You can't shoot a fleeing suspect in the back unless the officer has probable cause to believe the suspect "poses a significant threat of death or serious bodily harm".

No apparent weapon. At the time of the shooting, fleeing teen was merely in a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle seen in a shooting. Officer is white, is part time, and has been through 4 police departments in 7 years (http://www.wtae.com/article/east-pittsburgh-police-officer-identified-in-antwon-rose-shooting/21754207).

As someone who has relatives in the police force, I can tell you that officers don't change jobs that often unless they are having issues or are moving to a completely different area. All 4 of the dept. were in Pittsburgh, so I am willing to bet this officer kept getting cited or failing evals.

That is the problem. We don't have a system in place to PREVENT these unfit officers from simply playing musical chairs with different departments. We have a national criminal database, it is beyond time that we have a national unfit officer database to prevent these assholes from being rehired by an unsuspecting department.

Full Frontal - No Country For Pregnant Women

ChaosEngine says...

I watched this the other day, and honestly, I thought they were a little hyperbolic.

"Sometimes the nearest hospital is over an hours drive away!"

er, yeah.... the USA is a big country.

Even in NZ, a country over 30 times smaller, the nearest big hospital can easily be over an hour away from a small rural town.

It seems really unreasonable to expect that someone who lives up a windy mountain road should have an emergency obstetrics dept on their doorstep.

Houston Cop To Rescuers-"We've Had Enough"

littledragon_79 says...

If he is "following orders", then the top brass needs to get their shit together. There's no reason they can't organize the volunteers and dispatch them so they know who/where they are and what areas have already been helped. But I guess when your town's underwater, fuck help from Yankees.

Part of me wishes the driver would have just said, "There's a nice way to do that". I can't speak for the officer, but on it's face the interaction is shitty. Maybe he's super stressed about his own stuff. Maybe he's upset about having to help others and no one to help him. Maybe he thinks his orders (if there are any) are really stupid and is at odds with his superiors.

Whatever the case, ultimately he ends up doing a poor job of representing his dept., the city, and cops in general. Hope he and others learn.
