Don't Overload An Old Ferry

SFOGuy says...

That's probably an economic disaster for everyone involved. The cost of the trucks; the loss of the jobs for the drivers; the firing of the barge crew.
Bummer all the way around

Well, seems like brokep (Peter Sunde, TPB) was arrested today.

I don't think they'll drop him in a hole like the Danish authorities did with anakata, but still... bummer.

Well i thought it would be better coming from you as you seem passionate about planes. I'll promote it if you sift it though. I'm really weird about my sifts and could easily later kill it it (i do that often, see my killed file) and that would be a bummer for those who like it.

thanks, eric! I've seen this video already, 's good one for the wings channel;) will you sift it?

Faster. Farther.

Wild Orca tries to communicate with boat.

lucky760 says...

ohhhhh bummer!

enoch said:

i was fascinated with this video.i thought this young orca was imitating the sound of a boat motor.
turns out he was an orphan and did indeed love motor boats.
from y/t:
Unfortunately, Luna died tragically as a result of accident. Once he played racing with a motor boat, its captain was also carried away by a play with the orca and he made an unexpected manoeuvre. Luna collided with the vanes and got split to pieces. The man sincerely blamed himself because of this accident but this mistake can't be corrected - Luna died. The motors that he loved so much became the result of his death...

now i am sad......

Awesome hobby for the technically minded

That looks almost fun enough to get me back into RC flying. The risk of losing the rig seems awful high at those distances though. And I'll be a camera/transmitter with that kind of range isn't cheap.

Oh hell, speaking of transmitters, I'm pretty sure a radio controller with that kind of range is way over the legal limits here in the States. Bummer.

Thug Cop Smashes Woman's Face Over DUI

Maybe he should be strapped into a chair with his eyes held open while he watches a non-stop looping video feed of his actions until he says "I understand". I'm ok with that. But, I guess that falls under the "unusual" of "cruel and usual". Bummer.

How about he just gets arrested, tried and sent to jail like every other person would be if they smashed someone's face into pieces for no fucking reason? He will never be a cop again and so never able to repeat his crime this way, and as a former cop, I bet he learns a thing or two in jail about what it feels like to be a victim.

newtboy said:

Yes, you are right. It's not really what I meant. Sorry.
What I meant is that for him to actually empathize with his victims and understand the wrongness of his own actions will likely require that he is forced to witness something/someone he loves being victimized. I did not mean it should actually happen.
While I agree he needs to be punished, it's my experience that he would endure the punishment but never comprehend that he did wrong, but instead would likely convince himself he's BEING wronged by being punished for nothing. I would prefer that he also understands his wrongness, it makes it more likely he won't repeat it. I'm not sure how to go about forcing that understanding without creating more victims, which I'm NOT really suggesting.

Bill Nye Explains Juno's Earth Fly-By

Submission requested by emailer Nicole.

Since the slingshot yesterday, Juno has gone into Safe Mode due to some kind of unknown problem. Hopefully NASA can get it worked out, otherwise it's quite the bummer.

Samuel L. Jackson on The Purple Lightsaber

daxgaz says...

I can attest, I worked at lucasarts around that time. for a game we were making, we had made a light saber color generator that let the player pick their own personal color. George sent an email to us that said we had to nix that and that there were only red for bad, green or blue for good and purple for Mace Windu. we had to kill the whole system and remove it from the game. it was a bummer for us, but I guess it kept things consistent so that's ok.
