The 7th Guest: Official Trailer

ForgedReality says...

I liked the 2006 Prey, but it wasn't the best game ever (I actually have a boxed copy--remember those? ). Prey 2017 is said to be System Shock 3, I'm sure you know. It's not really in the Prey universe, but I guess they couldn't acquire the System Shock IP.

I only played the original Prey demo which was decent. System Shock 2 scared me.

Alien: Isolation is probably the finest game ever to come from a movie franchise. It's one of the best games ever, imho.

As far as games based on movie franchises, I would say mainly only Star Wars and LotR games have been really successful, although an argument could be made for the Lego games (Harry Potter, Batman, etc). There are some others that have been decent, but nothing spectacular I can recall off the top of my head.

New Bethesda Game: The Evil Within

EvilDeathBee says...

Bethesda are just publishing it. A more accurate title would be "New Shinji Mikami game: The Evil Within".

For those who don't know, Shinji Mikami created Resident Evil franchise, reinvigorated it with Resident Evil 4 (arguably one of the best games ever made) and also created the awesome and underrated game: Vanquish

(just curious, mind mentioning a few of the "best games ever made" that you've contributed to? You know, so I know as if to thank you, being a gamer myself)

As a used to be hardcore gamer, who spent countless hours beating hundreds upon hundreds of games, from atari 2600 on, who worked for video game companies and contributed to some of the best games ever made, I can safely say that I wish I had used all that time to do something productive. I could be a piano playing, juggling, multi-lingual artistic black belt by now. I have great reflexes, sure..I can hit a guy two miles away with a railgun without crosshairs, that's true..but I really don't think thats adequate compension for all my wonderful memories of sitting in front of a screen for a good portion of my life. When you count the time I've spent on the internet I barely register as a human being. Nostalgia is great until you process it into reality.

Yeah hindsight is 20/20..and I probably won't start playing the piano or doing any of that..my one regret was never learning japanese, which ironically I originally wanted to do so I could play unreleased games from Japan..but also because I wanted to travel there and be an English teacher..I may still go as a missionary, but if I go anywhere it would probably be to the middle east. Wasting time, I've just done too much of that..so I've quit nearly cold turkey..life has a habit of passing you by you know..

Well wishing doesn't do much good does it. Why don't you start playing piano now? How about that kung fu? Yea if I saved every dollar from the day I started working I'd have loads of money by now. And if I started working out this time last year, I'd have a six pack. Who doesn't think like that? It's just the way it is...you spent the time they way you felt like spending it, there's no use in crying about it now.
edit: (but yea videogames are kind of just a time killer)>> ^shinyblurry:

Zero Punctuation: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

yellowc says...

He's saying his exposure to the more refined version of OOT, Twilight Princess (and to lesser degree other modern Zelda games) made OOT just seem outdated to him.

People who were first exposed to OOT can't understand this position, as probably a lot feel OOT is a better game and that Twilight was a good copy but not great, even though it fixed a lot of the smaller issues.

Also OOT felt a lot more epic when it was released, both due to the current gens age back then and also just because back then it was epic in comparison to the games around it. Now it feels positively small and if you're going from modern games, back to old games, without a nostalgic experience to blend the flaws of time, you don't quite "get it" and would rather play the modern versions.

As he highlights, the Water Temple has some enigma as being brutal but I just played through it last night and he is pretty much bang on, it was hard for kids. I only played OOT when it came out so I had remembered nothing, it was brutally easy, I was actually kind of sad, I was some what looking forward to the hellish experience I remembered.

As I play OOT 3DS, I still think "Wow this really is the best game ever" but he still has very valid points.

Wait. Is he saying that he liked it, or that he didn't? I'm totally confused.

Robin Williams & daughter Zelda talk about the legend of!

L0cky says...

I took 10 days off work to play Ocarina of Time (previously loved LttP). It's the best game ever.

It's nice that Robin Williams called his daughter Zelda; but their description of the game in this ad is totally vacuous. "I liked the graphics; and you could push stuff around; and I liked the horse. The new one has better graphics. It looks sharper than before. Cutting grass and finding stuff! It's addicting!".

It's not consistently rated as the best game ever produced because you could push some blocks around. A few words about the story; the atmosphere; the adventure; the world; the characters; the grand scale; or even the music would have been nice.
