All Your History: Adventure Games Part 1
I've been watching these (they're up to episode 4 as I write), and they are such a trip down memory lane for me, they traverse my gaming life very well. I loved Kings Quest when it came out, I played some Zork (not much though), and devoured the Space Quests, Police Quests, Leisure suit Larry... and then the Monkey Island games. LOVED them.

I love these retrospectives.
And I love being a backer of DoubleFine's Adventure game, cannot WAIT for that to arrive
All Your History: Adventure Games Part 4
I got introduced to the early King's Quest games, and later the 7th Guest, but I somehow missed all the Lucas Arts games. And I seem to be the only person who never played Myst.
To be honest, I never really liked adventure games. King's Quest(s) annoyed me. I got more into 7th Guest, but I don't think I finished it. I spent much more time playing Ultima 6; hundreds of hours while almost entirely ignoring the "story". To me, a "world simulator" RPG that tried to let you do essentially anything was much more engrossing than the adventure dynamic of needing to find 1 object to use in a logical (or not so logical) way to move forward (find the key, open the lock; or find the fish, throw to the bear as seen here).
Still, interesting to contemplate the genre even though it wasn't my cup of tea.

I've been talking to some of my Chinese colleagues and they tell me that there are VAST amounts of traffic to MegaUpload type sites throughout Asia that are dark to the Western world because of the language barrier.
This problem isn't going to go away. The copying cat is out of the bag, but there is a big upside that a lot of people don't acknowledge:
Millions more eyeballs are watching movies than would have is they weren't shared. The trick is harnessing this in a "free" setting. In the short term, we're probably talking about embedding things into the movies that are hard to strip - like product placements - as annoying as they are.
In the long term there may be other creative solutions. I was listening to this very nerdy podcast about the old Infocom text adventure games like Zork - and they mentioned their use of "feelies" as a form of copy protection. Perhaps, as movies become more interactive - this will be an option.
Sam & Max - The war song
Haha. Go war! I wonder if there are of these funny musical scenes and no, I am not playing adventure games since I suck at them!
jesus was a buddhist monk-BBC documentary
To be believed or not, I find these sorts of stories to be a lot of fun.
If you agree, I suggest getting hold of a copy of Gabriel Knight 3, one of the last classic Sierra adventure games from 1999. It deals heavily with the themes of the Knights Templar, Bérenger Saunière, and Rennes-le-Château.
Oh, and vampires.
4 years later a <sarcasm>largely unknown</sarcasm> book would appear with a very similar plot: The Davinci Code.
Das Racist - "Who's that? BRROOOOWWWNNN"
Glad I watched that past the first 25 seconds of annoying. Also huzzah for old school adventure games!
EDIT: Also 'Shoplift Irony Beer' FTW
Ruby Rocket, Private Detective
Actually, the animation style (and video quality) reminds me most of LucasArts adventure games like Full Throttle and Monkey Island 3.

I really miss them too. I loved the Kyrandia games. I was REALLY into adventure games back then, and very recently I bought back a Legend of Kyrandia III: Malcolm's Revenge copy I had sold
Ah, I couldn't get into those adventure games, text games, etc.

World of Warcraft - Cataclysm Cinematic Intro
Since WoW has come out - videogame wise I've played a bunch of WoW. Some games would take me away for a while. I'm trying to remember which ones... Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3... lot's of indie ones - like Osmosis, Braid, World of Goo, Torchlight (which almost felt like a damn blizzard game) definitely Minecraft in a big way and recently Amnesia. And besides these innovative titles I've definitely played more of and been satisfied with WoW more than any other game since Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Which before WoW held the most hours played for me. Played that game every week for years - it's still amazing and I still think it's Firaxis' best.
Even more recently I've been having fun playing games I played when I was a little kid like Ultima IV, V, The Magic Candle, Syndicate, Sierra adventure games... developers obviously need to go back to the basics and innovate from there.

After playing this game, I'd love to see a full sandbox game set in a prison. You are a new inmate and your goal is to escape and clear your name. Or somesuch. It would be comparatively easy to make because you'd only need just so many textures and models. Not like Shawshank...more like Escape From Alcatraz only more gritty and dark.
To quote Jerry Seinfeld about prison, "It is a fascinating lifestyle."
I'd play that. Could be pretty good too. You could work in different ways to escape. Sneak out, Thief style, build up a gang and take the place over and have a chopper get you out like in south america, or maybe an adventure game-y and dialog based route to get out legally. Close combat with improvised weapons, raiding the armory... sweet
So.... The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay but much more sandboxy. Sounds good. Prison Break the game if you will.
However, if they made and official Prison Break the game, I'm sure it would be horrible.

Sherlock Holmes Game - Watson Is Creepy

It's not a bug, he's clearly an Angel.
Just... just don't blink.
Man, you beat me to the Blink reference.
In any case, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened had this same "feature", but that game was actually meant to be a horror, so I really did get some scares from Watson.
And on that note, the Sherlock Holmes games from Frogwares are all excellent adventure games, especially The Awakened.
