Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty Preview

Just saw 'District 9', and the verdict is... (Scifi Talk Post)

id49606 says...

Yeah, this movie was definitely well worth the time. It gets you pretty wrapped up in some of the prosthetics and special effects. Even the CGI, while not exactly sparse, was actually only used where it was impossible to have an object or creature in real life. It's even got a pretty original view point on the whole "ZOMG, alium!" genre.

Bonus creepiness: The theater I was in, no one made a sound the whole movie(not even a cough), no one got up to go to the bathroom, no one said a word till we all could see daylight. It was outright trippy. Super happy I got to see this movie.

Squirrel LOVES Ice Cream

Ummm.. have these people never been to a park before? Squirrels do this all the time with bread, sure it's cute and all, but that woman's voice who was talking was friggin ANNOYING... you'd think this was the most amazing thing that had ever happened to her ever..

And it ran off!!! ZOMG!!! LOLOLZOLOZLOZLOALZ.

Sure the vid was cute enough, but only on mute.

Bush = Saruman!!!

Saruman wasn't always evil was he?

I was thinking:
Bush Senior = Morgroth

And since he made baby Bush it would be:
Bush Junior = Sauron

P.W. Singer: Military robots and the future of war TED Talks

MarineGunrock says...

I want to slap this guy. He goes on and on about robots being emotionless, but completely fails to mention that we have NO combat robots that are autonomous.
And then with the slide show - He's showing exoskeletons and all that jazz and then busts out a picture from the Braingate project. Seriously? You're comparing a technology that allows a quadriplegic to have very limited use of a computer to that of humans interfacing with combat robots?

What really made me laugh was the side-by-side of the Star Wars AT-ST and the Japanese walker mech.

First of all, you're a douche. ZOMG! Not some piece of shit "mech" that simulates walking by gliding on wheels made by some guy in his garage out of sheet metal!

Secondly, he seems to willfully neglect that these machines are NO different than a predator drone, a M1A1 Abrams tank, or a 2004 Toyota Camry.

They all require an operator.

I've seen this sort of thing happening with sci-fi robes in other media before (generally executed much better), and thought I'd take a stab at it. Thank you for the kind words! If I could do it again I'd make ponce a little stockier. Maybe for his diamond

first off, wow, nicole! superlative duplication of avatar details, and extending into the unknown space of their forms. plus i love how you incorporated the Sydney Opera House into the composition.

obsidian happens to be the first sifter on the probie donations list, and i've frequently enjoyed rhesus' commentary here. but since you're both at 100, ponce gets the congratulatory promote this time:
