You missed my point, entirely. HPQP had the audacity to call people using the military to spread the gospel "very disturbing", emphasizing that people should get together and stop this "outrage", as if this is what we should be concerned about regarding our soldiers. It's just another pet issue for atheists, who are actually advocating that we take away what helps soldiers endure and overcome the horrors that they are ordered to carry out on a daily basis. I think that is completely callous, wrong-headed, and in the context of the real problems with the miltary, ludicrously out of touch with reality.

If I understand the intention of the puzzle correctly, I'm assuming the lake is a closed system (a large pool, really), that all energies are transferred instantly and evenly, and that all things mentioned have mass.

After you pick up the anchor and start lifting, the boat will sink some amount (not a rate) proportional to the speed you're raising the anchor, and the lake will rise a proportional amount to the amount the boat sank. When you stop lifting the anchor, the boat will go back to the start height, as will the lake. The moment you release the anchor, the lake boat will rise above its start height, and the lake will drop below its start height. As the anchor enters the water again, the lake will rise back to the start height, so the final result is the water will stay the same level.

Or I could say that with any anchor that I could lift and an average-sized lake, the difference in the height of the lake distributed over the entire surface would probably be less than a molecule of water, so even without figuring out the forces, I could claim the difference would be insignificant, so "stay the same" again. Why is it that people feel unable to approach those involved when they're bothered by something? Please observe the question mark which, funnily enough, denotes a question NOT a statement. However, they certainly DID suggest what their answer would be. My inference is based upon their demeanor of derision and incredulity at anything said by Dooley, and the fact that they openly condemn him as a war monger. The two comments that I said were "extreme" and "ridiculous," were just that. The other comments made by Dooley were legitimate. Your Brevik comment is absurd and, as such, is not worth commenting on. As for you comparing islam with christianity? What are you talking about? I am an atheist and deride ALL myths. However, in defence of Christianity; When was the last Christian suicide bomber? When was the last time Christians flew planes into buildings? When was the last time a Christian stoned a woman to death or carried out an "honour" killing, or hung gays from a crane? When was the last time a christian beheaded a non-believer, etc, etc?
