To be fair, I'd say "below average" action movie.

And it just barely has Mortal Kombat names.. if I asked 10 geeks to name MK characters, I think most could name the fighters from the first game: Sonya, Liu Kang, Subzero, Scorpion, Raiden, Johnny Kage, and Kano (I think that's it). Some would know the bosses - Goro and Shang Tsung.

You'd have to be a fairly big fan to get Jax and Striker, I think. The only reason you have them is you have some actors you've decided on and that's the closest MK characters you can find.

i found the use of what appeared to be toy hk xm8's as some sort of ridiculous energy weapon to be particularly groan-worthy.

I was just working my way through the unsifted videos and was lucky enough to find it. Normally I go only a couple of pages into the unsifted realm, but I stuck it out to page 4 and there it was. Fate?

BTW, I used to be a frickin GOD at Super Mario Bros, but now I don't even touch a game controller unless my son asks me to play Little Big Planet. The last game I played regularly was the original Mortal Kombat on Sega Genesis. Who's old? I am.

I agree though that the pc's showing was awesome. Absolutely can't wait for Rage or Crysis 2! As for the other consoles.... at least they have Mortal Kombat 9. Better than nothing.

I meant rather the big three console conferences, not individual games themselves. And yes we really don't need another zelda every six months do we? Now Kid Icarus sounds interesting but knowing these companies anymore it will be shit compared to the original. But who knows.

I quit playing video games after I mastered the original Mortal Kombat. It all felt so meaningless after that. Ripping a beating heart out of a chest simply lost all its magic.
