The Day the Dollar Died

Looks like a Glenn Beck/Goldline infomercial.

Gold never loses it's value it's a commodity and it's a rock. I've never understood how a rock could gain value or lose value. That being said, everyone wants gold because it will be so valuable when and if the dollar falls.

I predict that if the dollar falls we'll see a bit of this and a bit of that. But hopefully stronger minds will settle this crisis without all of the foreboded damage we saw in the video.

A Different View on the Science Behind Global Warming

BicycleRepairMan says...

This is bullshit. the evidence not only is in, but it is growing. The deniers rely purely on distorted data, and basically none of them are climate scientists. If you look at the famous list of climate "skeptics" often referred to as scientists, it turns out that almost none of them are actually scientists in the related fields.

The argument that scientists conspire to create panic so theyll recieve funding is complete bullshit. Anyone who believes that, simply doesn't understand how science works. The evidence for global warming comes from a wide vareity of fields, and the people responsible for collecting it includes, but are not limited to meteorologists, geologists, arctic explorers, glacier experts, NASA and other space-organisations, marine biologists, oceanographers and people who do climate research. If this is a conspiracy, it is simply unprecedented in the history of everything, and involves mostly people with no interest in fueling the panic. Much of the imagery that shows the ice receding, for instance, come from NASA, now why would a company that burns off a hundred tons of fuel every time they send a rocket to space, want to lie so that people thought burning fuel was destroying the planet?

If you are a climate scientist, and you are interested in making a shitload of cash, Call Exxon on and lend your credibility to them for an infomercial, and you wont need to lift a finger the rest of your life. Much, much easier than trying to co-conspire with thousands of scientists.

ABC news anchor asks a rather inappropriate question

This sort of crap 'infomercial' shit has no place in a 'news' broadcast... One perhaps thinks he has had it up to here with that sort of shit and was just letting them know what the story they were so happily talking about was... about women wanting to like dick more.

The other day, for some reason I was watching local news, and they gave a starbucks plug on the actual broadcast. It reminded me of one of the many reasons I avoid local news.

I thought the comment was perfectly appropriate given the conversation...

what was inappropriate was why a local news organization is doing a "story" in the format akin to late-night infomercials. This fluff-piece likely had promos too - I'd like to see those commercials trying to get people to tune in...

A tribute to doing it wrong

IronDwarf says...

These are my favorite parts of late-night infomercials: the poor people who are either completely inept at what they are doing, or simply doing it the hardest way possible in order to make the product seem like a goddamn miracle.

If only real life switched to black and white so I would know when I was doing something the wrong way.

DON'T GET HURT: Federal Medication Ban

NetRunner says...

^ I'm not so sure it's necessarily corporate backed, but that would make sense too.

According to the articles I found on the FDA ruling, the FDA was worried about inadvertent overdoses of acetaminophen, which is why they banned the combination drugs. If you still need the effect of Vicodin, now you just have to take two separate pills instead of one.

So basically, this guy needs to sue his doctor, not do infomercials for professional political activist organizations.
