Matt Stone and Trey Parker crash a "Storytelling" Course

petpeeved says...

Neat surprise for those students but I think life is much more of an "And Then" experience (at least my meandering plotless script of a life) as opposed to a "But/Therefore" one and I have found that I get much more out of art that tends to come from that perspective.

Storytelling from any formula raises my hackles. I guess it is a necessary evil to be commercially viable as a 22 minute television show in modern America, and the better (read more artistic) tend to mask the formula well, but I've long found the phenomenon of it to be a little sad and frustrating.

It's only 11 minutes long per episode?

Yeah. The stop motion is really time consuming to do. I gather that they work pretty much all year for a season of 11 minute episodes.

Wow, so they use the 22 minutes for commercials or what? I never watched their shows on cable and satellite.

No, no, it's nothing like that. It's 11 solid minutes of show, and then they'll have some commercials, then another 11 minute show (sometimes a Robot Chicken rerun, or an ep of another of their 11 minute shows), then commercials, etc, to make up the typical 22 minutes of show and 8 minutes of commercials for the half hour.

Interesting. I wonder if the upcoming Star Wars episode will be like that too.

Since you're a Haligonian perhaps you can tell me what is that honkin big white tower on Citadel Hill. As soon as I started watching this vid I recognized the street and the background view but I couldn't place that tower and it isn't even on street view. I also couldn't find any pics on google with it in them.

More on Portugal and Spain in this vid, also filmed in Halifax: http://videosift.com/video/22-Minutes-EU-Bailout-of-Ireland
>> ^EMPIRE:

Can Portugal and Spain's situation really be compared to Ireland and Greece's? I mean, yes we are also in a bit of trouble, but I truly believe the whole situation has been amplified by fucking speculators, messing with our credit ratings.

And Jay Leno ripped off the "Jay Walking" segment from Howard Stern's "Man on the Street".

Plus, this video was likely inspired by The Hour has 22 Minutes' "Talking to Americans".

Not much is completely original nowadays.

Epic Beard Man Interview

Epic Beard Man Interview

EmptyFriend says...

Yeah this is just bizarre.

His version of the fight is a little off... a knife? punched 3 times? knocked out for 22 minutes? "you're gonna go to vietnam now, mother!"
The fight stemmed from his needing of a shoe shine for his mom's funeral, but then later he said his mom died 2 days later (and that seemed super uncomfortable in the video).

reminds me of Walter Sobchak in a few ways now....
