Happy belated anniversary! Due to a glitch in the Matrix, we forgot to mark year number 7 since you first became a Sifter. The community wouldn\'t be the same without you. Thanks for your contributions!

Hey, thought we could continue our conversation here if you like.

The problem is deeper for the atheist position because the existence of evil is actually proof that God exists. There couldn't be any such thing as evil apart from the existence of God. Without the objective standard of Gods moral law, good and evil don't exist. Yet evil does exist and we know there is a right and wrong. We know some things, like rape, are just absolutely wrong. When we do something wrong, we feel terrible, and that is because we are guilty of violating the moral law. We all have a God given conscience that tells us that. So, when you think of how things ought to be, what standard are you using? If there is no good and evil, it ought to be the way it is. According to evolutionary principles, the way things ought to be are whatever causes us to pass on our genes. Raping is actually a good thing according to evolutionary principles, yet we know it is evil even though it could pass on our genes. So, there is a higher standard that we all answer to, and what I am saying is that this comes directly from God, and we are all accountable to it.
