Australian Town Where Everyone Lives Underground

Coober Pedy is a small desert town in Australia where the entire population lives in underground homes. With outside temperatures hovering over 100 degrees, residents made permanent homes in the cooler temperatures of old mine shafts.

I've been there. It's a pretty cool place and it has a spaceship in the middle of the town (they filmed Pitch Black there).

Just outside it is an area called Moon Plain, and it is the most awesome alien looking landscape you've ever seen.
