In this thread I made a list of people who've been burned at the stake or threatened for contradicting the book of Genesis, in response to someone who cited part of an inaccurate Wikipedia article that denied that the Christian consensus before 1600 was that Genesis was a (perhaps imperfect) account of history, not just an allegory. It seems like a revisionist religious apologist wrote the article in an attempt to sweep this uncomfortable fact under the rug.



List of people burned or harassed by the church for contradicting some part of the church's historical interpretation of Genesis:

Comte de Buffon (his books were condemned and burned)

Bernard Palissy

Thomas Burnet

Giordano Bruno
