Let's Talk About That Gillette Ad...

bcglorf says...

Watched it once after seeing the outrage, yawned and moved on.

Then I saw guys like this adamant that the commercial wasn't characterizing all men, but the bad actors/behaviour, so I re-watched it as my first lazy watch had left me feeling like I could see how people felt it was at least targeting most men.

Here's what I saw second watch:
"It's been going on far too long... Making the same old excuses"
Entire line of men ALL chanting boys will be boys
"But something finally changed...And there will be no going back"

Yeah, I get where people are saying this commercial is painting at least a majority of men as bad actors, and that the good news is that is finally changing. It's even the most straightforward reading of the message to me, and you have to do a bit of mental benefit of the doubt to dismiss the now things are changing as less than an indictment of previous generations of most/all men.

Lion King - Live Action Teaser

ChaosEngine says...

Yeah, this.

I guess it’s a bit harsh to judge this from just a teaser but....

This looks like a shot for shot remake. Financially? Genius move.

Artistic? Yawn. If you’re gonna redo the Lion King, do something interesting with it; like remove all the dialogue or something. I mean, I get why they don’t do that, but this holds almost no interest for me and it’s only “almost” because I’m curious to see John Oliver in it.

Liberals 'Drag' Kids Into Early Sexualization

HenningKO says...

Pretty pathetic "expose"... a few racy jokes that fly over the kids' heads. Yawn.
It's pretty clear infowars WANTS drag to be viewed as taboo and fetish and so she keeps repeating that they ARE... but that's just not the case for the kind of Americans who would go to a drag con. For them, it's just fun to dress up and pretend.

I have a plug-in for Chrome that turns "millennials" into "snake people" and my internet is a better place. What I got to see of your post was:

"Snake people, yawn."

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets | Final Trailer

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

Looks visually stunning - so why do I think I will be yawning half-way through the movie? When will Hollywood learn that story and character has to come first - then the beautiful vision.

I hope I'm wrong. 5th Element was good - but what was good and memorable were the characters.

Having said that - I would like to play this as a VR game.

Oh yawn...

Way to really throw everyone a cruve there Bob and take the high road, as opposed to constructing an actual argument based on facts and reason... Would have totally lost that bet.

Corporate Media Goes ALL OUT To Hide Clinton WikiLeaks

vil says...

Nice kitchen dude, why are you talking to your refrigerator? Is this like the "underground" of news reporting, so the "censors" dont catch you? Is it that bad in the USofA now?

Is it now OK to steal and expose private e-mails of people in any public office? Because 2016? Seriously?

What NEWS is in those e-mails that makes them worth ranting about?

The general idea of "she sucked up to banks in those undisclosed private speeches and is soft on them in general" is old news. Everyone has known that ever since she first undisclosed them.

The general idea of discussing tactics, yes even dirty tactics, in private, before deciding if they are moral and practical and should be used publicly - is that news?

The general idea of Hillary being a not very good actress (some would say "two faced *****") - is that news?

What NEWS is in those e-mails? I dont want to yawn just yet but this is leading up to a big yawn.
