hands down,there is no argument.
good day sir.
i said GOOD DAY!
Flying over Iceland (Part. II)
Gorgeous. I went there last summer. It is that stunning. I strongly suggest it as a vacation destination to anyone adventurous.
BUT.....
When you spend the time, energy, and exorbitant amounts of money to go see the unspoiled wilderness and nature, and some asshole ruins it by flying their drone overhead for a few hours, it's enraging.
That happened to us twice (maybe by the same group at different places, we aren't sure). I was ready to grab that drone and throw it in the berg filled lagoon, or the beautiful collimated basalt waterfall they were flying in front of. I had to wait over an hour at the waterfall for the assholes to move out of the picture....they had walked past the 'don't go past this sign' signs to get the shots they wanted right in front of the falls, and refused to move or get back on the trail.
If you own a drone, please be respectful of the rules and of others, or know that it's your fault when someone loses it and destroys your toy. Don't act like the world belongs to you, and other people's peaceful enjoyment of natural areas don't matter.
Your youtube views don't trump my right to peace and quiet in nature.
I feel like drones need to be regulated in public spaces for that reason. Not totally banned, but given specific days when it's allowed and make most parks and all natural parks off limits at all other times.
Drone footage is amazing, drones buzzing overhead are amazingly annoying.
30 Years After - Chernobyl 4K
Man, so spooky. That place would be a really awesome setting for a video game. Can you imagine stalking through that wilderness, dodging mutants and bandits beneath those clear skies? I can almost hear Pripyat calling me.
(seriously, I think I recognized some scenes from the games in those videos... isn't that bit in the beginning with the cranes identical to the starting map of "Call of Pripyat"?)
The Perfectionist Trap
Back in Design Studio (Arch), my prolific friend described the differences in our approaches to me so well.
The project was a target out in the wilderness, and at the start, he'd shut his eyes and start shooting wildly at the location of the target, only to open his eyes and see that it had been moving the whole time.
I, however as he saw me, would look for the mechanisms that kept the thing in motion, take one shot and disarm it completely, as I lined up my crosshairs...only to be met by the sound of the buzzer. Time.
It was time to change...he had 3-5 "false" solutions, whereas I had the thing (supposedly) solved, but not fully complete most of the time...stuck in my head, where it did no good. I had lost out on so much experience with the potential for developing wisdom. I had to learn to stop seeking Truth, whatever that may be, and run with truth as what was at hand, if that makes sense.

Mel Brooks Misses Being Able to Call Gene Wilder
Anne Bancroft, Mel's wife (Mrs. Robinson), was only 73 when she died of cancer. :=(
This picture makes me happy and sad: Mel and Anne
Look at this incredible picture: Mel, Alfred, and Anne
More awesome but sad pics: John and Gilda
The icing on the cake is an interview with Gene wilder on Merv Griffith where he talks about how he dealt with his mother being close to death, how he would try to make her happy by making her literally pee her pants: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IATnW4A_r8U
It's crazy, I binge watched hours and hours of Gene Wilder interviews sometime last year and this video is what stands out to me the most.
And this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B3v7OKNvp4

Thanks man,I replied.... I decided that I am going to move to the Sonoran desert, get away from Cali and focus on health, space and money Ayahuasca/DMT definitely influenced that decision. SF/Bay Area/Santa Cruz/Silicon Valley... it's too unwieldy for me to deal with anymore. Shit, is out of control in terms of risk & cost of living.... 15 years, brah, I'm finally off into the wilderness... will be riding my bike across a seemingly infinite wasteland of beauty every day

Primitive Technology: Forge Blower
I believe this is his full-time jam now. He hasn't monetize the YT videos but he has a Patreon page (https://www.patreon.com/user?u=2945881, which could probably do with being linked in the description here) that says he gets $3,773 for each video he makes. If he makes one a month that's a decent living. It's at least probably enough to support him with food and housing, and if living in the wilderness and building things with bark and mud is what he spends his money on, well, he's golden.
All these videos amaze me.
How does he have all this spare time to discover all this?
The Little Prince
I saw the live action one sometime back ...Gene Wilder played the Fox.
I read the book but never got it.
Perhaps I should give the book a try again.
I am glad Netflix decided to run it.
The Simpsons - YOU'RE NEXT
Way more disturbing than the actual movie it's portraying. Although the movie "You're Next" ain't all that bad. It's a pretty typical slasher but one of the victims turns out to be an ex wilderness survival child born to parents who lived off the land in Australia, so she sets up all these intricate traps to slow down and kill the murders. Pretty awesome at times.
The art film director boyfriend who get shot in the beginning is real life horror director Ti West, who directed an excellent retro satanic cult horror movie called "The House of the Devil". I love that shit. Had one of the actors from You're Next.
How To Make A Bamboo Knife
Yes, next time I'm stuck in the wilderness and I need to fashion a knife out of raw materials, I'll be sure to remember how to create a knife myself... as long as I already have a knife with me.
Real helpful.
