Asmo says...

As an adjunct to this video, there is this interview with 2 BLM activists that is part of the documentary.

The awful irony is that in the documentary, Daryl has far more reasoned and polite conversations with dyed in the wool white supremacists than he does with fellow members of his race.

After the two interviewees walk out, a 3rd BLM member steps in and launches an escalating tirade, but storms out without even bothering to listen to a different viewpoint.

This is what I think is the issue. When people who proclaim that black lives matter can't even sit there and listen to the opinion of a black man, what's the fucking point?

Perhaps the most poignant part of this video is the last minute (from 10:00 onwards).

(speaking about one of the BLM members)

"He was very definite that white people could not change. How is he going to advance any agenda in this country, as diverse as it is?"

Didn't call for censorship. I just find little benefit in singling out an individual with a very tiny platform for saying something dumb. The idea that her being singled out online to be inundated with death threats and vitriol for her and her family (her and her family were doxxed over this) seems to far outweigh the benefit of "stopping this woman going around the country"... seeing as how she's one woman with basically no following and little influence. I doubt she's done many of these talks at all or will do more. (Looked it up. This talk was the only one she'd given all year. Only one on a different subject the year before. Both locally in her area.)

Spreading videos like this after someone has already been doxxed and threatened only seem to help compound the injury. And it's not ideological to me. Justine Sacco said something stupid online and got a crazy amount of blowback and lost her job for it- I don't agree with that either.

If you want to call out what you view as racism, going after the little guys for saying something a little off isn't the way. Go after people with influence. Hell, a police chief in Oklahoma was just caught running a white supremacist website and record label. That guy has direct impact on the rest of people's lives and even if they get to keep their lives in some situations.

Ashleigh is an unemployed recent college grad. The most influence she has are the 15 or 20 people who were all adults that signed up for this particular seminar. I imagine they either agreed with or are old enough to make up their own mind on what was said.

So if you could just let us know what types of racism and hate-speech we should look the other way over, we can begin recreating the third reich immediately...

I don't want anyone dox'd or harassed, and i especially don't want her racism to result in more racism directed at her because that will confirm her bigoted world view. But I can't wrap my head around someone defending a racist hate-speech from a *left wing point of view.* Historically, anti-racism, anti-facism, etc. was always led by the left - this is their genre!

I don't understand what her age has got to do with it other than excuse making, and i also don't understand why the sift shouldn't be allowed to post videos that are used by websites/groups we ideologically oppose. In that case, we need to take down the videos about cops killing unarmed black teenagers, because far-right websites use those videos in different contexts too. And we better show understanding and take down videos of those "random young people" from Charlottesville marching as nazis.

I know i'm being a bit sarcastic here, but seriously..... do not - DO NOT - censor videos showcasing racism according to the skin colour of the offender. That is possibly the exact worst thing you could do to help the far right cause. We are right to speak up and hopefully stop this woman going off round the country radicalising more people to her way of thinking.

Edit:
You can say that nazis marching in the street and getting violent are inherently more problematic than what is shown in this video and i agree. But the reason we have violent nazis in the streets is because we compromised and allowed acolytes for hatred like Milo to make his own hate-speeches in the name of 'respecting all viewpoints' and led by impotent neoliberal centrists who didn't want to piss off a demographic by morally challenging their views.

That's a fair point, Eric. I can't say that I know enough about minority group racism to judge.

So yeah, I'm happy to amend my statement that to "not all republicans are racist, but pretty much all white supremacists/nazis are republican".

Huh, still doesn't read great, does it?

Oh, and @worm, I agree. There is a perception of "anti-white social engineering by the left". Of course, it's complete fucking nonsense, but hey, no reason to let facts get in the way, right?

"David Duke, a major KKK leader of some sort, was a Democrat in Congress."

If you're going to post bullshit, you might want to post something that isn't trivially disprovable by 5 seconds googling. He was never a congressman, instead having failed several attempts at both Democratic and Republican presidential primaries. He did become a state representative for Louisiana, but that was as a Republican (he also lost a governship battle, again as a Republican).

I'm not seeking to demonise Republicans here. I don't agree with them most of the time, but at a point, they were a relatively sane political party, before becoming the international laughing stock they are today.

The problem is that they are now beholden to Trump and almost all of them are spineless fucks with a few notable exceptions.

Do you think that is true (in America) with the racism that exists in minority groups(generally between minority groups i assume)? I've always just assumed that most minority groups lean left (in America) and the racist that are part of those group would also identify as being left. I assume if you're a white racist you are most likely a republican but don't think that would hold true for racism in minority groups. Although i really don't know.

Now im curious to know which cultures/groups in the states have racist views towards other cultures/groups (excluding white America).

Off to watch something funny. My fragile (anxiety ridden) mind can only take so much of the ugliness, and the last few days have been pretty ugly

I agree with most of his points, but from what I see, the left doesn't completely ignore antifa. I would hope that most of the left disavows these fascists against fascism at every opportunity. I would like the dnc to follow the republican party who, today, finally said they don't want the votes of Nazis and white supremacists...the dnc needs to say the same about antifa. These extremists on both sides threaten us all. They need marginalization.

Trump Negates His Condemnation Of Nazis, Both Sides Guilty

RFlagg says...

NOBODY is saying anybody is heroes. I haven't read or saw any reports saying they were heroes, save for Fox who says that the media was. Just that people were counter protesting those sort of people the whole word fought a war to defeat.

What is happening is that Trump refuses to say just how fucking evil Nazis and the KKK are. He wouldn't do this if it was a Muslim who ran people over, nor would you. He, Fox, and all those on the right would all be saying how it proves how evil Islam is. By that standard, the fact they don't see how evil Nazis are, proves how evil Christianity is, if God won't convict you that Nazis are one of the greatest evils that ever existed... that anyone who isn't a fucking Nazi themselves, wouldn't call out the absolute shit that is a Nazi or KKK is, is reprehensible. I'm sure most Christians would take offense to such a statement, for such blanket blame of a few bad Nazis proving how evil Christianity is, but don't think twice blaming a terrorist act by a Muslim on the religion itself.

We got Republicans trying to push through laws that protect drivers who hurt or kill people who are peacefully protesting. As if the first amendment doesn't matter. Now, to be fair, most of those probably wouldn't protect the asshole who killed that lady down there, as he clearly had intent to hurt and kill.

Let's repeat the main point, there are no mainstream media saying any group is a hero. People may have called out the one lady as heroic, though it wouldn't have been if it wasn't for a White Supremacist asshole who killed her because she was protesting against White Supremacist like him. But NOBODY in the mainstream media is saying any groups are heroes. All we have is Fox saying as such, and trying to give fucking Nazis a pass for not being some of the most evil people ever. There's no fucking blame on both sides. The fact that we have such a blatantly racist President, with a White Supremacist in Bannon, has emboldened such hate groups, they are gloating how he wouldn't put them down, and then how he rolled back what he said Monday. They love that he's so clearly on their side of pure hate.

He wouldn't have waited days to condemn the violence if it was Muslims at the center. He'd have said something right away, talking about the dangers of radical Islam. He wouldn't have waited to get the facts, as he's proven time and time again. Nor would have the far right media machine like Fox.

Fuck anyone who would stand with the Nazis and the KKK. Fuck anyone who'd defend their hate.

The fact that the Republicans who could do anything about this asshole only have harsh words and won't start a hearing on conduct unbecoming a President, the fact that he's made us the laughing stock of the world, just shows how low the party and its supporters have gone.

Trump Negates His Condemnation Of Nazis, Both Sides Guilty

RFlagg says...

Problem of course is his followers, Fox and the far right will praise him for his "measured" response, and waiting... of course he has far more harsh words for the CEOs leaving his photo-op, than he does for Nazis... and doesn't have a measured response if its Muslims, then all Muslims are to blame, but some Nazi runs over a woman, then he blames both sides.
Fuck Trump.
Fuck his supporters.
Fuck Nazis, the KKK, and White Supremacists. There is no such thing as a good person in any of those groups. There's no excuse for these groups, and they now feel emboldened by Trump, and his initial refusal to be harsh with them... now after his statements, they remind him he won because of them, and he tones his message down.
And we know why he toned his message down against the white supremacists, because he's a puppet of Bannon. The fears over Bannon leaving will likely never happen, as until Trump grows an actual pair, he won't stand up to Bannon, because he knows the only people who's really on his side are the white supremacists, and if he turned on them, even Fox's love and fawning over him wouldn't save him.

I totally agree, it would be poetic justice for the immigrant haters to have to live without them...I just don't want to have to do it too just because I'm a total honkey.
Can't we just offer them a white supremacist only state and have them all move there, then close the borders and build that wall? ;-)

Perhaps I am being obtuse but I feel that one of us, or perhaps both of us, are not understanding the other.

A parallel: After Brexit there was some rather ugly anti-immigrant stuff flying around. "Polish vermin" etc. I did, in my bitterness, fantasise about a UK without immigrants because it would be such deliciously ironic justice. I mean, in reality I'd have my Polish friends and a country that actually functions rather than "I told you sos" and packing bags... but still, sometimes I do wish lessons would be learned the only way some will ever learn them.

Yeah...except that ignores your original point, that without non-whites efforts, 'merica would implode. I don't feel like a racially pure white supremacist nation would be a utopia in any way, even though I'm extremely white. (for one, my wife would have to go, not cool, and probably me for marrying her)
