let us instead look at the history of american culture.
over the past century and a half there has been a few waves of immigration to america and each of those waves took approximately 2 generations to assimilate.

blacks had been here for hundreds of years and generation after generation remained socially stagnant UNTIL...the advent and consequent popularity of hip-hop.
it was this genre of music which was so uniquely tied to black culture which ushered in the assimilation of black culture.now i do not propose that this has been a smooth transition nor has it been complete but rather pointing out the immense impact of this musical genre.what civil rights and basic decency could not do over the years hip-hop managed in only a few.
so is it any wonder that we now find other cultures participating in the creation of hip-hop?
not at all.music is the greatest form of sharing cultures' and styles and genres will bleed into each other.if you look at the history of music this is played out over and over and over.

so we should not be surprised to see white kids,latin kids and even the odd asian kids paying homage to hip-hop in the ways that humans always do.

I was introduced to racism by,ironically, minorities. For about a month or two I didn't understand that the term "white boy" was an insult to my creed. At first, I thought I was just abnormally white, in actuality though I am pretty dark as far as white people go (or was before I discovered computers). Over time I finally figured out that it wasn't my color that they were making fun of, but my ethnicity, which up until that point in my life I had never contemplated before. I had never identified myself as a white person. My only understanding of color was that some people were more tan than others.

In all these race arguments I feel like I am at a loss. It would seem that for most my formative years I lived the MLK dream of being color blind. This makes it really hard for me to understand racism; both at the source and at the recite. As such, I have a deep guttural reaction to both racism of hate and racism of reciprocity (affirmative action). For me, the goal is to be color blind, not color sensitive. As such, anything that makes more than a superficial distinction on color...no matter how noble in appearance it only works against that goal. Perhaps I am naive, but the trollish observations of "race-baiting and victimology" do have some significance. Racism still happens, and when it does it needs to be righted, but this constant heehawing about supposed acts of racism seems to just prolong the healing. Like that line in fight club, "it is like that sore on the top of your mouth that would heal if only you would stop tonguing it." Not to say that we should turn a blind eye to racism when it rears its ugly head, but for some, racism is a means to a life style. People like Al Sharpton contrasted against MLK highlight this difference in mind set. MLK was victim to all the out right ugliness of racism. But what you hear from him is nothing but the utmost strength and self determination. He was never a victim, he was always the triumphant gladiator ready to take on the next hurdle and take all the dignity owed him. He was a brave, courteous hero whom is worthy of emulation by our current generation.

Who ARE these interminable white boys who fancy themselves either entertaining or clever by reviewing cinematic pieces of shit? Why are white people bent on entertaining so untalented?? Not my place to comment on her psychology, I don't know the lady. What I do know is that I work in opposite of some of the generalizations. I don't like fear right about as much as I don't like pain. If I have a nightmare that keeps me up, I don't think about how awesome it was that I had that one instead of some other one that might of been worse; would or rather not had one at all.

I also don't mind moving out of my comfort zone per say. If there was a banana peal in a courtyard, I would make straight for it and trip on purpose to get a laugh at my own expense. Generally, being thought a fool I find very amusing even though it is rather awkward feeling.

I also didn't learn that I was a "white boy" until I was in 6th grade. Then, when I learned I was, I didn't know that was a pejorative!

I remember watching a program on human evolution where it was looking at monkeys and social groupings. The larger the brain of a monkey, the larger social groups they would form. If you carried the trend up to humans, our social networks would be at a max of about 120 people. I thought that was kind of interesting that human evolution might of really only prepared us for small town/tribal living and our brains really aren't capable of handling city living.

I experience that when I walk down a crowded street, how could I possibly be nice to all these people. More over, would I want to, that guy might be an asshole! Though I find certain individuals as actually identifying with groups, that is strange to me. I have never understood cheering for sports teams, you don't even know those people? I think some people do submit themselves to much to a group dynamic so that it suppresses their own rational individual ethos, some people just aren't that transcendent.

For my own opinion, it appears from the outside looking in that the first lady is pointing out that not being transcendent is bad, but she also seems to fail her own litmus test...it's hard to be a human for sure. Public people suffer from not only being human, but the subject of scrutiny for the rest of us.

and it happens in lady prison as well. i know girls who went to prison for drug offenses and had been raped with broomsticks, tampons, plungers, hair brushes, fists .. you name it.. by fellow inmates.
