I dig the proc on those zg claws.

before they changed dual wielding from being a class skill to being a spec ability at the end of wotlk, i used to dual wield em but as arms for fun and when they proc'd i'd hit bladestorm and it did the most intense animation youve seen. lightning everywhere!

Reminds me of the VERY OLD windfury proc's, so sad they killed the timing of the sound and animation--I have NO CLUE why they did that it was PERFECT as working!?!? Maybe they thought the newbies would get scared off by the pretty lights and sounds, I know I run for a ditch and /cover.
Second, as is said elsewhere in a different fashion, I'd like to point out that once they really start talking I have no idea what language they are talking in. It sounds like Sumerian, but I don't specialize in languages that old and dry...

oh god, i remember the original windfury totems when it didnt increase melee haste but instead gave a chance to proc a second attack. it was crack for fury warriors. i'll never forget one zg run we did and windfury proc'd during a huge trash pull on a whirlwind.....after i had popped recklessness....giant yellow crits filled my screen, i pulled mass aggro, and promptly died. but it was badass

not long after i completed the claw set i met a failadin out in epl, they proc'd halfway through the fight, and he bubble hearthed lol

Warcraft Acct. Dealer: I Lost $250,000 in one day!

dannym3141 says...

@Porksandwich ah, fair enough. I'm afraid i don't have 12 minutes to spare for the video, but i think you might be overestimating still; i was doing a lot of wow during vanilla, ran the second best guild on my server (hardcore raidng - what a nerd!), even sold several accounts.

The very first character i ever created was max level in 2 weeks - i was an everquest player you see, so grinding was nothing to me. Suited me even, and quests were a lot less rewarding then than they are now. I think i could have done it faster with better knowledge of the game as i was brand new to it and only found a few decent grinding spots. All solo, which i suspect these guys wouldn't be.

However, max level characters WERE more valuable then because not many people could grind levels faster than i (except a professional), so i think the asking price is spot on; I wouldn't take less than 100 quid (~150 dollars) for the work i put into that priest to get him to max level.

Unban choggie, blankfist and dft. (User Poll by MrFisk)

enoch says...

i see where fisk is coming from and the anarchist in me agrees.
i fully understand that some people seek and desire cutesy marmalade syrupy cute kitty/animal videos and that is their thing.
no judgement here but some of us actively seek out the obscure, dark and inspired videos that are becoming a rare commodity on this site.
videos that challenge our preconceived notions and make us ponder and contemplate, inspire us to think or feel in a different manner.

mrFisk is pointing out the fact the community of sifters who engage and post content such as described above is becoming smaller and smaller, and the sift suffers because of this collective neutering.we know full well who posts the eclectic, obscure and controversial and we recognize our dwindling numbers.
blankie and choggie challenged conventional ideas and were supremely vocal while they did it,and yes, could oftentimes be total dickwads in the process.
passionate people tend to behave like that.
they cross lines.
they speak before they think things through.
they offend tender sensibilities.
but fuck all if they didnt make ya stop and think for a second.

these are the people who add a dynamic to a community..
a diversity that is so badly needed.

so yeah,
when a few members of that small group leave (for whatever reason) the rest of us take notice and the sift suffers as a whole.
the voice is diminished, the message diluted and what is left is the gelatinous vanilla goo of a uninspired collective group-think.

blankie and choggie had something to say and people like fisk and i appreciated them for that, even though we may have disagreed.
and you are right @speechless.
there are other sites and venues to speak what is in our hearts and what is on our minds, and many who once lurked on this site have migrated enmasse,to the sifts detriment.
which is exactly MrFisks point.
a point you have decidedly missed.

i am not condoning nor defending choggie and blankies behavior (and others) all i am saying is that they brought a unique and interesting perspective to the sift and now we are all diminished due to their defunct silence.

through conformity there is stagnation.
you have been warned.

on a side note:
thank god DFT is still around and keeping it old skool!

oh..and *promote this poll!

Total Recall (2012) - full trailer

cosmovitelli says...

Funny how these remakes/sequels/prequels/reboots/reimagainings do kind of give you a SENSE of having watched a classic but without any of the emotion or gravitas that made it remembered in the first place. A 23 year old girl told me she liked Singer's Star Trek 'because it wasn't like sci-fi'. I passed a bunch of middle aged women a while back and caught the words "..doctor manhattan.."

Modern marketing is reshaping, monetizing and pushing EVERYTHING that was interesting, exciting and cult, into a sort of vanilla paste to be squeezed into the minds of people who have less and less ideas about life but who vaguely know that these titles are remembered for decades for some reason.. it seems some extended cartoony dance-fight for the boys and some saccharine melodramatic romance for the girls is all you need to get in there.

The world is run by inheritees.
They can't be expected to know how great things were done by their forebears.
They do however own the show and are forced by their own need for self respect to believe they are entitled to make creative decisions WAY beyond them.

What are they going to do? Imitate and resell the past till its worth nothing. Anyone want to take this bet: spiderman reboot reboot reboot by 2020, Lawrence of Arabia with Robert pattinson by 2015, and on and on until we all kill ourselves.
As long as they do Krull with Samuel Jackson I'll go quietly.

How to make Iced Coffee

EvilDeathBee says...

Pfft! A single shot of proper espresso mixed with plenty of full cream milk, ice and of course a scoop or more of vanilla ice cream and blend it! The ice cream will sweeten it, but you may want more sugar. Can't be beat on a hot summer's day

7 Stages of Skyrim Addiction

Xaielao says...

Vanilla graphics in the game rather suck (now we know what it's only a 5.9 gig game). Thankfully there are half a dozen mods out there that make your mind blow with delicious graphics lol.

As to the game, I'm still not done with it. My main guy is 35 and I still feel like I haven't really scratched the surface. With the Creation Kit hitting this month and DLC most certainly on it's way, there are many many hours of enjoyment to be had with Skyrim.

Wouldn't this just encourage the sale of Girl Scout cookies?

Sagemind says...

Fun Fact: "On Nov. 24, 2008, Girl Guides of Canada announced that they had finally found a way to reduce the amount of trans fats in their popular chocolate- and vanilla-flavoured cookies. The new cookies — which will contain 90 per cent less trans fat than the old cookies — will be available in the spring of 2009. The organization has been raising money through cookie sales for 81 years. The cookies are made by Dare, which has offered other trans fat-free cookies for several years."

He's trans-gendered, by definition, I don't think girls are on his mind.
Oh, and I like cookies!

I also like cookies. But Girl Scout cookies are chock full of trans-fats, and I just can not tolerate that sort of immoral fat-bending.

TYT - Top Republican Spin Doctor Scared of Occupy

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

Uh - no offense - but Frank Luntz is about as 'insider' as you can get. He is not a conservative. He is a GOP wonk. Putting it simply - he's one of those RINOs that real conservatives can't stand and who sells true conservatism down the river every chance he gets.

The GOP insiders want Romney. They want Romney because he is the person they have polled as being the most 'normal'. Above all else, the GOP insiders want someone bland, flavorless, and easy to swallow. They don't want the Sarah Palins, or the Herman Cains, or Ron Paul, or anyone else. They want vanilla, plain-jane, smart sounding, pretty for the camera, non-controversial candidates.

Romney would probably lose to Obama though. So why does the GOP want him? Quite simply, the GOP (as a political party) wants to keep the House, and win the Senate. And they think that Romney is the guy that would give them the best chance to do that. He is so inoffensive, that he would not really 'damage' the critical House/Senate races they want to win in 2012. And if the GOP keeps the House and wins the Senate then the GOP gets to head up all those committee chairmanships, get charge of all the appropriations, and basically run the show. They wouldn't care whether Obama was still President as long as they got to run the town. That is the perspective that Luntz is coming from. Any candidate that risks the GOP 'master plan' is seen as someone to beat down and toss off the overpass rolled up in a flaming carpet.

The normal voters don't give a flying handshake about OWS. OWS is a bunch of freaks, losers, and radicals who will have absolutely no impact on the presidential election whatsoever. But they have a remote chance of messing up a few House & Senate races... That's the only thing our dear Frank cares about.
