Thanks For Silver (Eia Talk Post)

Used up all my own hissy-fit points on this site-I promise to continue to exercise at will, the voting up or down of offerings according to stated guidelines.

Like ant, sometimes the motivation for a downvote may or may not be apparent.(plan rto rock the down vote this go-round, please get ready. Not voting is the same as voting up or down, right?? Be happy the attention you desired was received, be it good, bad, etc.

Feel bad when you get a downvote?? Ask me and I'll tell you of the motivation.
OR, hold a grudge and form an opinion based on an emotional reaction....

The latter method works great if you want an insular hidey-hole of ostracization (like the one I dug for choggie!)

chingalera is simply a somewhat emasculate version of choggie....BUT, at least we got the package fondled, eh?

All I ever really wanted was to be able to fix all of choggie's old dead embeds! Oh, and to piss folks off with thin skin~

YouTube Slowness? (Sift Talk Post)

oritteropo says...

Although most of them play OK for me, the way they work has changed. Before the change I used to turn off my wifi after, lets say, 1-2 minutes had loaded to avoid using up my bandwidth quota while it loaded the whole darned thing in the background... then I would watch the 1-2 minutes and decide whether to load the rest. If I try that now, as soon as I turn off wifi the whole thing just breaks, no matter how much it thinks it had loaded.

If your connection is the tiniest bit flakey, or under unusual load, this could break things for you that would not have broken with the old loading scheme.

You could consider putting in a bug report, perhaps they'll make the old scheme optional in settings, or just fix the new one?

Reloading the page, then moving the slider to where you were up to, will generally get it going again if it does break. The old trick of clicking the slider just past where it's up to doesn't work as often as it used to.

Youtube embeds play slow for me too. They chunk along while loading. It's been like that for most videos for me since youtube updated the way that they stream their data a few months back.

10 Misconceptions Debunked

joedirt says...

You are the world's biggest fool if you pay for bottled tap water in bottles shipped across the country from Coca Cola bottling plants. It is exactly Coke without the sugar and coloring.

With the minimalist carbon filter, any US tap water is way better than any untested, unregulated bottled water that bakes in warehouses in plastic containers.

It is the same municipal water in all of these sources, plus you are using up oil and destroying our roads when you subsidize shipping bullshit water to your grocery store because you want to pay an idiot tax.

Ron Paul Booed For Endorsing The Golden Rule

Go find me a powerful country, any time in human history, that doesn't push its neighbors around when it perceives an opportunity to advance its interests.
I'll wait.

Show me one that didn't fall into catastrophe as a result when it used up the available resources and could no longer aggressively grow.

This is basic, evolutionary behaviour that the progressives seem to be unable to control. And all the right wing can add, after a billion years, is rationalization.

Obama Fails On Minimum Wage Pledge -- TYT

GeeSussFreeK says...

BTW, min wage laws hurt those who most need a wage. It is really hard to get a job as a used up drug addict. A church I used to be a part of as a Christian tried at length to get the homeless into decent jobs, but when you don't have the faculties anymore, it is hard to get a job where you are worth 7.50 an hour. And while we never ended up facing this issue, because we stopped trying because of legal reason, we tried to do this kind of subcontracting where we would hire ourselves to clean local businesses restrooms for real cheap, "hire out" some help being burned out street people, then pay them the full amount we contracted ourselves for. It was a legal nightmare because of the min wage laws preventing us from doing it. In the end, it was a job that could of been done for money, but in the end, we had to just give them money. In other words, there are many jobs that could be done by the neediest of people who don't have the mental gusto to be deserving of a full wage job. In the end, it ends up forcing a charity gap, where people that don't have skills merit a wage of whatever the min wage is to rely on charity of some sort.

In this, we make law breakers out of them. The man that offers to wash your window for a buck or whathaveyou isn't really complying with min wage laws exactly. That doesn't matter when it is just a car driver handing out money, but when a business can't hire some street folks to make regular cleaning of their outside patio area, then something has broken. Even if I could be convinced that we need a min wage, the way it is setup atm is to "help" middle/lower middle class people at the expense of the most poor. Implementation is very important, almost more important that the act itself. Any act that explicitly raises unemployment for the poorest of the poor is explicitly bad in my opinion.

As a side note, even when I was an unskilled worker...a high school student, I have always made a wage greater than min wage, even when working in fast food. Think about your own wage history, have you ever made the actual lowest wage? If not, then think about the skill set of a person that makes it, and then think of the person that exists below it. The person that exist below the min wage is the person that is most afflicted with the negative this life has to offer, and is also rejected from employment opportunities. I can not morally and rationally support min wage laws as they exist today, I have dealt to much with the pain of rebuilding a life of work and happiness that hedges against the laws. Any law that makes flat out charity the ONLY means of rebuilding your life is morally objectionable.

RichardDawkinsNet: The Best Reason To Oppose Ron Paul (Religion Talk Post)

kceaton1 says...

For as long as Huntsman was here in Utah and then his actual time as governor, he was a very good middle of the road Republican. I'd be happy to take him back as governor. His Lt. governor that took over had tea party affiliations and with no one around to oppose him, he decided to act on his impulses. Of course, he has seen bad numbers in the polls so he has pulled back. I think he forgot that he replaced Jon Huntsman without a vote and he isn't a middle of the road candidate, like I said he has Tea Party ties (like our Senator Mike Lee, who's an idiot).

Just so you know Jon Huntsman is what is known by regular attending church goers as a "Jack Mormon", basically someone that doesn't go to church all the time. I can't blame him as the services are anywhere from FOUR to SIX HOURS long! Basically, your whole day is gone and used up by the time you're done. The last poll I saw showed that the majority of Mormons were in fact "Jack Mormons". So that might explain part of his appeal here in Utah (especially in Salt Lake which happens to be very democratic in its leanings), is that he isn't a holier-than-thou type of person, which Mitt Romney emanated sometimes.
------------

As for Ron Paul... Ron Paul lost any chance from me voting for him when I found out he had relations with the John Birch Society. It sure as hell makes sense why all of his policies are so radical.

Another example of goverment waste: plowing invisible snow

BoneRemake says...

You are a tool if you are under the guise this is training, if this was training they would be in their quad cab ford trucks, with driver and tim hortons coffee in hand, driving out the route prior to driving it while actually in the machine, in fact they would drive it for 3 days probably.

If they have the blades dropped and scratching up the pavement like they are they are "doing the job" not training.

This seems to me TO BE A COMPLETE WASTE, yes its true people this shit does happen, and how do they justify their budget ? by going out when there is no snow and dropping blades onto the pavement. Why ? because if they do not use up their budget they will more then likely not get the same budget next year.

This is just some asshats justifying their job by going out on the superiors orders.

They left a $4200 (+tax) software delivery (IE they basically delivered a card with a serial # on it) sitting on the floor in the hallway outside my apartment as it was a copy of the local coupon rag.
From the same experience, I'll also never give any more money to:
3VIZ Software (Canadian distributor of Autodesk.. based on my dealings with them I'd be surprised if they're still in business... bunch of fuck-heads they are).
Autodesk (Makers of 3DS MAX... pick terrible distributors and now call me every four months to harass me about costly upgrades and "subscriptions" that I'll never buy.)(also consistently set deadlines for the upgrades and subscriptions that are totally imaginary).
FUCK YOU UPS
FUCK YOU 3VIZ

Something in this vein happened with UPS almost three years ago and it still makes me so fucking mad when I think about it... I will never use UPS again. Fuck you UPS you useless cunts.

One time a UPS delivery girl dropped off my package and as I watched her from the window, her not noticing, she walked by my sprinklers which were on and saw one was broken. She bent down and fiddled with it for a good 30 seconds until it was fixed and sprayed correctly, I thought that was the sweetest thing ever.

They must like me because I'm such a pleasant person...staring at them through my window like a creeper.

Bob Barker can't control his eyes

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

Barker was a notorious hound-dog - the very definition of a dirty old man, really. Without any doubt if he could have had his druthers he would have used his position of power to bed the chick. He used up and spit out his 'prize girls' on a regular basis.

Introducing: Google Currents

spoco2 says...

So, after someone gave out the apk to install for the rest of the world (thanks for nothing Google), I tried it for about 5 minutes.
* First negative: It took up 6Meg of my internal storage even after moving it to SD Card
* Second negative: After only that 5 mins of syncing it had used up 9 Meg of internal storage.

Um, I know that most new android phones have heaps of internal storage, but why the hell can't it put all that data on the SD card dammit. I have gigs free there and only 30 Meg free on my internal mem.

Uninstalled and unimpressed.

Awesome Looking Star Wars Touchscreen Game.

frizlefry says...

Thank you for welcoming me into the new age of computing! I totally did not know that millions of devices with touch interfaces had been sold. That is amazing. As you are well aware, the popularity of something is direct irrefutable proof of it's greatness. Millions of people bought Milli Vanilli albums and Beanie Babies and Pet Rocks and all those things are great! I would definitely use the general public to try to prove my own points if only they agreed with me. Typing on a smeary screen, using up valuable visible display space to show a keyboard and getting no tactile feedback is surely the wave of the future! What could be better when gaming than looking at the back of your own hand? What is more immersive than using imprecise finger pointing to generally direct game elements? I can't think of anything really. Joysticks and keyboard/mouse combinations have just been holding us back. It's all so clear now.
P.S. Where can I get a some of that iPhone kool-aid you've been drinking? The game shown here looks to be in the RTS genre. The generally accepted measure for proficiency in RTS games is actions per minute. Top players in Starcraft perform several hundred per minute on keyboard/mouse. This kludgey junk you are so quick to praise because it looks like Minority Report or something from a hacking scene in a movie would never come close to that in APM. It's junk for casual gamers who are easily impressed. So I guess I should say "Enjoy!".
>> ^jmd:
Btw friz, welcome to 2011, with millions of touch phones and tablets all over the world being used. Todays glass can be coated in a way where thumb prints don't cause to much of an issue. May be a slight prismatic look when sweaty, but people have no problems enjoying gaming on them. The touch interface shown here is far more superior then a gamepad or mouse could do. Having one hand on a keyboard to help facilitate issuing command types with your next touch could easily be handled with an onscreen panel too.
