Why do we even have a down vote? (Sift Talk Post)
Example of "Quality Control" at work.
http://www.videosift.com/video/The-most-amazing-ukelele-playing-you-will-ever-see-Jake-Shimabukuro
Has over 500 up votes and 14 down votes. Seems more like 14 people who just didn't like the video as opposed to any "quality control". This btw would be one of the shiet videos MarineGunrock wants to keep off the site.

I think that dag suggested crowns for the next icon. I'd go with a golden ukelele in honor of the number one video.
Can we make Long Term Probationary Members Shut up? (Sift Talk Post)
Grimm, I think you know as well as I that the Ukelele player guy video is an anomaly, half those people never came back.

thanks fotr replying to my sift talk, I was looking at older high rated videos and came across this post of yours which made me giggle.

Well, this kind of thing is subjective, but we are kind of a Web democracy here - and the people have definitely spoken. Keep in mind, VideoSift has been around for barely 2 months. I would be very surprised, if this video was still number one in another 3 months (yikes, scary to think that this comment will be very quotable in 3 months).
I guarantee though, that whatever video replaces it - some people (possibly me) will believe it to be unworthy of the spot.
On this performance, I have watched it so many times that I'm sort of numb to its effect -but- the first time I watched it, a shiver went down my spine. Sometimes art can transcend a mere performance and personally connect to the people experiencing it.
Having said all that - I also think there is a bit of intertia about being on the all-time top page 1. I think there are some videos on page 2 and 3 that are worthy to overcome some of the vids on the top page. So go vote for them!

The Man Who Grew Roots
Marine: Yea, if he had a ukulele he just might go to the top!
New format for thumbnails at the bottom of the screen (Sift Talk Post)
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Hmm, I'll agree that for many videos showing all the voters isn't too messy, but as we grow- it becomes more messy for videos with a large number of votes.

I just wanted to quote you on this.

Live Radiohead - Videotape
*awesomesauce
radiohead can do no wrong. criticism is pointless. the fact that ukelele man has 394875 votes and this has 17 is a damning indictment of the state of modern society.
Dag's In Ur YouTubez Stealin' Ur Embedz
LOL, this is just the vid to take down Mr. Ukelele... I wonder if a *-save would reset this video's publish date?![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/smile.gif)

I guess you've never seen the sift's all time top video:
http://www.videosift.com/video/The-most-amazing-ukelele-playing-you-will-ever-see-Jake-Shimabukuro
check out all the "P"s there.
In reply to this comment by v1k1n6:
On a lighter note. I like how all the lurkers decided to sign up for VS just to have an opinion on their soap boxes. There's more "P's" in here then a farmer's field!
Suggestion: Vote Average Stats (Sift Talk Post)
I always wondered about the ukelele post - then again, it is freaking insanely great playing.
Neat idea, maatc. I occasionally calc that average. I had tried to stay above an average of 20 when I first started, but that quickly dropped. It can be heavily dependent on when your posts hit the front page.
Suggestion: Vote Average Stats (Sift Talk Post)
The only thing is that guys like Crayfish would have a huge average only cuz they submitted one video that got an ungodly amount of votes.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Hawaiian Version by Iz
Found this while dupe-posting. See for more info (and a live-action video version instead of slideshow):

Very nice song.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we've just seen the video. What we've seen speaks for itself. The videosift website has apparently been taken over - "conquered" if you will - by a master race of overacting praerie dogs. It's difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the amazing ukulele play or merely own the home made light saber duel. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the praerie dogs will soon be top five. And I for one welcome our new rodent overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a yet-to-receive-a-star videosift personality I could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground video queue.

Musician Tiny Tim died on November 30th, 1996, aged variously 64 to 66. He had been hospitalized in September after falling off of a stage during a ukelele festival. Tiny Tim gained fame for his "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" rendition, and for the spectacle of marrying Vicki Budinger on the Tonight Show, 1969.
