TYT - Obama Is Just A Politician, NOT A Leader

Samaelsmith says...

GeeSussFreek,

Impose: enforce compliance with.

If 70% want something changed and 30% don't, then not making the change is denying the wishes of the 70 and is enforcing them to comply with the 30. If you want something and are denied it at gumpoint then the gunholder who doesn't want you to have it is most definitely imposing his will upon you. (Speaking of guns, it seems that the ones that don't want change are the ones waving them around and threatening to use them to force their wishes).

The free clinics and hospitals you mention are not a viable alternative for many, otherwise there wouldn't be such a drive for health care reform. The way I see it for people to put the care in health care is to be civil at town hall meetings and to rationally discuss what changes are to be made without devolving into shouting matches and bully tactics and hope the elected representatives will take those concerns into account.

As far as the basis of the social contract being reason, we have all seen that a great many people are not ruled by reason therefore the social contract can't be very binding. I also don't see where you get the idea that we won't knock each other over the head in the night. It happens already and I would imagine would happen a hell of a lot more without the tyranny of law.

I'm not a student of political sciences so I can't argue very effectively about classical liberalism, Locke or Plato, but I like to think that I understand human nature, and being the cynic that I am, I don't think it's possible to even come close to some form of idealized utopia without infringing on the wishes of the many who would want something other.

im lame. there was a healthcare town hall here last night. my town and the ones surrounding it are enormously filled with the religious right, teabagger nuttery. however, the district is so large that my congressman is a democrat.it was pretty much guaranteed to be pure greatness. another sifter and i were going to go with hilarious protest signs. but we both got too busy this weekend for him to drive up from houston for the weekend. then i lost a babysitter so i just went to spin class instead of going by myself.
i lose. it really probably wasnt a place for my kids though. but this is the sign i wanted to attach to my my 6 year who almost got aborted when she showed up in my 19 year old womb.

"my mommy almost aborted me. you yelled at her and said she couldnt. were all glad she didnt. now we just lost our health insurance and cant afford my brothers asthma medication. the waiting list for chips is taking too long. shes trying to make sure this can never happen to us again. now youre yelling and saying she cant. you cant scream people into submission, intimidate them into having babies they cant afford and then try to deny them access to food, medicine and health care they need to take care of those babies.youre an asshole."

my 4 year old was gonna wear this one:
"my mommy is 26 and has an endocrine system full of tumors. we just lost our health insurance and now her tumors are a preexisting condition. are you going to protest being taxed to pay for the foster system and government entitlements ill get when she dies?"

bwwhahahahaahahahahah. it would have been hilariously inappropriate if i wasnt such a coward. and really its not as much fun to get yelled at by yourself.

maybe i shouldve gone with simple signs attatched to my daughter like "im easily manipulated by corporate propaganda" and dressed her up like one of these disney channel sluts like miley cyrus or brittany spears or a brats doll or something.

I just read this today. Please PLEASE PLEASE do this!

Barney Frank Confronts Woman Comparing Obama To Hitler

marinara says...

Funny how some Congressman can play the race card and get a free ride. Read the transcript.

Rachel Brown: I think the Administration is missing something in these town hall meetings, which is, that it's not just one group. The economy is collapsing. We have 30% real unemployment. Forty-eight states cannot balance their budgets and they are cutting programs to the bone. This is the context under which the Obama Administration says we need health-care reform—

Barney Frank: Well, I'll tell ya—

Brown: I'm not done. The reason why, is because they say we need to limit Medicare expenditures in order to do that, in order to reduce the deficit. That's the origin of this policy. This is the T4 policy, the Hitler policy in 1939, when he said certain lives are not worth living; certain people, we should not spend the money to keep them alive. Which is exactly what Ezekiel Emanuel has said.

So, my question to you is, one, since this policy is already on its way out—it already has been defeated by LaRouche—my question to you is: Why do you continue to support a Nazi policy, as Obama has expressly supported this policy? Why are you supporting it?

Frank: When you ask me that question, I am going to revert to my ethnic heritage, and answer your question with a question: On what planet do you spend most of your time?

Brown: [Inaudible; apparently asks Frank to answer the question.]

Frank: You want me to answer the question? [visibly and audibly enraged; lisp more pronounced:] Yes, you stand there with a picture of the President defaced to look like Hitler, and compare the effort to increase health care to the Nazis. My answer to you is, as I said before: It is a tribute to the First Amendment, that this kind of vile, contemptible nonsense is so freely propagated.

Brown: [Inaudible.]

Frank: Ma'am, trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to have a conversation with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it.

Baptist pastor prays for Obama to die and go to hell

Nithern says...

I disagree with you Bobknight,

By your own words, you said the money supply within the US has gone up 271%. That would mean the economy is coming back from the recession. Unless of course, your FOR recessions in my country?

Unlike the last idiot we had in the White House, this guy understands things. Following the status quo only servers to polarize the left and ring wings more. Results in the extremists from either side coming out of the wood work, feeling its 'ok' to launch attacks (including threats of violence) with impunity. Is THAT, what you want for my country?

So far, Bobknight, you sound like an enemy of the USA, not a citizen or friend of it.

And truthfully, Mr. Obama does not want to take over health care. There are, quite alot of problems with the health care system in the USA. There is no silver bullet solution like the GOP is brainwashing you with. Nor, is this guy trying to take over in some sort of hidden agenda or 'grab for power'. Funny that the last guy tried to do that, but not a single Republican said a word.

Somethings that should be done regarding the health care system in the USA:
A) Get our 40-50 million citizens who dont have coverage, some sort of coverage. The long term benefit will save us, and the short term gain is those who skip seeing a doctor over serious issues, can get help.

B) Setting up the legal system, so that health care companies can not act in together, or conspire against Americans on the rate of health care. As it stands now, there are no anti-trust laws in effect for the health care industry. Wouldnt you want such laws in effect for our health? Drinking water? Food system & supply?

C) Set up a system that gives a base level of care coverage across the board. Makes companies accountable to the level of care they give. That gives a bonus to companies that get things done right the first time, and starts penalizing the longer and deeper screw ups take place. As it stands now, if a hospital screws up, or you catch an illiness inside, chances are you will be back to the hospital for further treatment. Does that sound like a wise policy to have?

D) Set up a system for preventive medicine. Give Americans a tax saving or incentive to eat right, exercise, and live better. That is like free money to go work at the gym, and be healthy in the process. Your against looking and feeling good?

E) Behave in a civil manner. Yes, even idiots that have no clue how to behave in society, can get a fair say at town hall meetings. When people come together, discuss the issue(s) at hand as reasonable, mature, and forward thinkers, great things take place. Founding fathers did it, why cant we? They didnt have 1 billionith the tools we have at our disposal. Or are you as Rep. Barney Frank put it "just a dinning room table'?

Yes, there are alot of issues, and the president has his work cut out for him. Rather then waste your time, with your fearful and childish rant. Why not be productive and learn what is the issue, and how it can help the USA on this issue.

Steele: Protect Medicare - And Medicare Doesn't Work

NetRunner says...

I'd like to coin these "1984 moments".

If one minute you're celebrating your eternal friend and ally Eurasia, and the next you're doing a 15 minute hate about your eternal enemy Eurasia, you've just had a 1984 moment.

Republicans do this all the time.

Never in the history of mankind has government ever created a job! But don't cut funding to the F-22, it'll cost jobs!

Questioning the President in a time of war is treason! Bringing guns to a Presidential town hall is freedom of expression and patriotic!

Rep. Anthony Weiner Blasts the Critics of Health Care

The world needs more angry Weiners.

Exacly, just like the ones on the town hall meetings

>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:
Well - you may like him but this video gives no cause to do so. 1. He makes a generic claim ('everyone is going to pay less'). 2. He supplies only shoddy assertions and unfounded opinions to justify his claim (we're magically going to save 10%). 3. He ignores the CBO report that says the plan is will not save even 0.001% (let alone 10%). 4. He ignores the fact that Medicare & Medicaid are two of the most colossal failures in the annals of US social policy, both continually teetering on the edge of insolvency and routinely costing tens of billions more than they are budgeted for. 5. Then he goes and says private insurance doesn't help anyone to get health care.
At best, he's a tool. More likely, he's a neolib useful idiot.

You're right too!!!
just like the ones that I remember

1- We're going to win the war in Iraq
2- Yes we're 100% he has WMD

politicians always telling the truth!!!
and the stupid dumb asses cock sucker that always think their "side" is the correct one, isint that right " Winstonfield_littlepacker"

Obama is weak

griefer_queafer says...

I don't know. I just don't think he is that kind of guy. Isn't it kind of fucked up how us liberals get all is a flurry about the shady way in which Bush and Cheney 'did what they had to do' to get their initiatives passed, but when Obama needs to get some of his progressive legislation passed and he takes the high road, we get all annoyed with him?

I think he is being a remarkable leader, and I don't see him as a pushover. Now maybe some people could argue that his language is just not forceful enough, but as far as all the things that I have seen, where he has been speaking in town halls and giving speeches, I think he is hitting a very appropriate tone and communicating the right information.

But this was an upvote for entertainment, even if TAA is a smug little cunt (who i usually agree with).
