Tucker Carlson Attacks Jon Stewart Over Jim Cramer

Barack Obama sworn in as 44th President of the United States

quantumushroom says...

I FEEL LIKE YELLING HERE, APOLOGIES TO ALL WITH SENSITIVE EARDRUMS.

If the free market is such a great dynamo of the economy over fiscal expenditure and government explain to me why we had a Wall street bailout?

BECAUSE GOVERNMENT FORCED BANKS TO GIVE HOUSES TO POOR PEOPLE WHO COULDN'T AFFORD THEM IN THE NAME OF "FAIRNESS". TAXOCRATS BUY THE ALLEGIANCE OF "THE POOR" WITH TAX DOLLARS. BROTHER, CAN YOU SPARE A VICTIM?

ME AGAINST ALL BAILOUTS. STILL AM. FAILED CONSERVATIVE LIKE BUSH STILL NOT EQUAL SOCIALIST IDEOLOGUE WHO NOW SEEK TRILLION DOLLARS ON A TARGET GIFT CARD. IT'S SCUM POLITICIANS' WET DREAM, ALL MONEY/NO ACCOUNTABILITY.

What are you going to say now? The banking industry is not deregulated enough? The fed wasn't lax enough? The SEC shouldn't exist so more money could be rolled and rolled over in toxic packages? socialism? credit controls were not lax enough? What about regressive credit card debt? diminishing middle class? housing market bubble? run away government spending? defense spending? loss of capital infrastructure? lack of progressive tax structures? loosening of tax codes to corporate entities? run away trade deficit? increased federal debt? billions per month in Iraq that don't go to troops? spending on the drug war? spending on abstinence programs that don't work?

IT CALLED SPENDING MORE THAN YOU MAKE. YOU/ME DO IT AND GO BROKE OR TO JAIL. GOVERNMENT DO IT AND GET AWAY WITH IT...THAT WHY BIG GOVERNMENT SUCKS.

ME AGAINST 90% OF FEDERAL GOVT. TOO BIG, TOO POWERFUL. ALL UNCONSTITUTIONAL NONSENSE MUST GO.

Don't blame the previous 8 years of economic fumbling on a incoming president. At least he is trying to formulate a plan to avert disaster, unfortunately the free market doesn't care about the welfare of the economy as a whole, there is no invisible hand to pick up the American economy, notice the large manufacturing sector that has moved almost all production overseas.

FISCAL IRRESPONSIBILITY OF TAXOCRATS GOES ALL WAY BACK TO CARTER; BEFORE HIM, FAILED WELFARE SOCIETIES OF FDR AND LBJ. KENNEDY LAST LIBERAL TO DEMAND LOW TAXES FOR PROSPERITY.

They don't care about the American economy, they care about their own profits that is free market economics, fiscal spending and government stimulus is needed now to create a net injection into the economy.

HYPERINFLATION IS WHAT OBAMA WILL BRING.

The market plunged because Obama didn't promise any kind of net government bailout and you are here crying about socialism and new deals.

What do you think that says.

IT SAYS THERE NOTHING SO BAD ON OWN GOVERNMENT CAN'T MAKE WORSE. IF OBAMA WANT QUICK RECOVERY, HE SLASH TAXES FURTHER AND PROMISE NOT INTERFERE. HE INTEND GROW THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT VIA GAMMA RADIATION.

POLITICIANS = INSECURE CLOWNS WITH TERRIBLE EGOS. THEY WANT BE HEROES BY PRETENDING TO STOP CRISES THEY CREATED IN 1ST PLACE! THEY 'TAKE ACTION' EVEN WHEN ACTION MAKE WORSE.

HULK SMASH.

Limbaugh Blames Democrats for Economic Mess

12811 says...

Big gov't causes these problems. Our gov't is too powerful (I thought the dems agreed on that...when it comes to civil liberties, etc, but you won't believe it when the gov't puts pressure on banks to do their bidding). Try fighting the US gov't...

There is a phrase that bankers use..."cash for trash"...this is what the gov't forced the banks to do.

assuming lantern is a man?

before nominating him, wouldn't you want to ask if he's gay?

The Difference Between Barack Obama and Ron Paul

blankfist says...

^DFT, I understand your concern. Corporatism is scary. Period. It's even scarier when it gets close to government. It's incommensurably devastating when it gets close to a government that is too large and too powerful.

I wasn't insinuating we should push education into the hands of Walmart or Texaco. Thinking that deregulating public schools would immediately put Ronald McDonald on the cover of our Social Studies books is thinking (and making policies) from fear instead of reason. Public school systems ensure our poor or middle class must accept mediocre, universal education where no child is left behind, thus the education is sub par at best. Private schools are currently too cost prohibitive, so they remain prep schools for the rich.

Making education a self-determined right allows for parents to homeschool OR for them to decide what is best for your child's education. That's fair, right? Creationism is already taught in private Christian schools. So what's the fear? You want to teach something else in your community, then start a school. Start an Anarchist School or an Atheist School. You could start that trade school for the disinterested children, DFT! Or just an educational facility that is fair to kids who aren't responsive to the current cookie cutter universally homogenized education. Without the costly bureaucratic restrictions and regulations, it would be easy to do. And affordable.

Thumbs Missing on New Posts (Sift Talk Post)

Yes its an issue with me too. Its kind of funny though, only videos with thumbs are getting votes. Its rare my ENTIRE queue has ZERO votes. But then again none of them have thumbs. And *Findthumb isn't working either.

Gold 100 double upvote proposal (Sift Talk Post)

smibbo says...

and to take your own viewpoint in a different direction, what's to say that upper stars should have the ability to be "better critics" than everyone else? I mean, I have been here long enough to have earned silver, maybe even gold, but I keep putting up vids that I LIKE. Not stuff I think will get me my stars. I'm not lolcatting even though I understand that would get my star rising faster. Fine strategy for others but I'm not interested. Yeah half of my stuff ends up being a dupe but honestly I am flattered by that because it usually means I'm picking good stuff - just too late. It hasn't escaped my notice that some types of vids are harder to get sifted than others but that's fine. If a philosophical vid or obscure music vid or art vid actually does get sifted, I feel even more satisfied that it was a good pick. Sorry but people naturally vote up things that make them laugh or give them warm fuzzies. So, there's going to be a lot of lolcat sifts. Is that bad?
Keep the voting the way it is please. Maybe hand out more star powers or give them more often because I DO trust the upper stars to pick good things and bypass the system occasionally, but please, the symbolism of "one person, one vote" is too powerful.

Why Is The Mainstream Media Scared Of This Man

What returning to the gold standard would do to the economy.
Right...and the course we are on now, borrowing billions of dollars from foregn countries, and printing paper money out of thin air is never going to come back to bite if we stay the course...the U.S. dollar is too powerful....or at least it was.

Check out the Ron Paul survival report for some really great stuff about his views on other races. "If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be." - Ron Paul
That's a distortion of the truth. Those "words" appeared in a newsletter of his from 1996. His explanation is that those words were not written by him. How do we know if he is telling the truth? We don't...but we can look at his record. We can look at things that we know he actually has said, things that he has done and things he has promised to do and they are not supportive of the racist you want us to think he is.

Blogging is Dead; Long Live Blogging (Blog Entry by dotdude)

MINK says...

interesting...
i'll go along with the general idea that it will get easier to link things and there will be new ways of finding relevant stuff.

but when people say "imagine a world of web X.0" i get suspicious.

I think the problem is, the human brain has certain hardwired limits (that take thousands of years to change) and computers are just too powerful. Also, the last thing I want is to tell my friends exactly where I am all the time, and I probably don't need to tell future employers exactly what I think about politics and religion.

Also, real life is still more interesting, and if you don't lead a real life you end up outputting boring stuff that there's no point linking to. Internet dreamers never really talk about how this stuff gets created in the first place.

Good example: musicians do a great first album, drawn from their whole life experience, and then spend 12 months on the road having no experiences other than the tour bus and some parties, then they write second album, and it sucks a bit.

America to the Rescue - The Daily Show

Diogenes says...

ok, bamdrew, though i won't say fair enough...

the daily show really shouldn't have it both ways - it's either a comedy show or it's a news program -- jon stewart on crossfire intimated that the show shouldn't be taken seriously because they followed a program where puppets make crank phone calls

if this is the source of other people's beliefs or 'what they've absorbed' then i can only shake my head - too many people are not sufficiently circumspect of what they accept as a source for their understandings

so, with no idea of why, what, or from where they draw their beliefs...

yes, i'll try to help in providing what they apparently can't or don't want to find

as to saddam, well, your contention and mine aren't specifically at cross purposes...

the tds clip appears to claim that our military sales to saddam made him too powerful to easily remove in any subsequent regime change

to this you bring up rumsfeld and intel - both of which, i'll wager, did very little to strengthen saddam vis a vis the tds claim -- the military sales / aid i already clarified in my first post here

only the most obtuse of revisionists will fail to remember the context of realpolitik of the early '80s -- the ayatollah's islamic revolution having just seized control of iran--as well as their taking and holding us hostages for 444 days (and finally releasing them just two years before the rumsfeld photo), and providing hezbollah support with which they kidnapped more americans in lebanon--meant that the us was pleased to have a secular foil on the arab street

you may find it interesting that, in speaking of the infamous photo op of saddam and rumsfeld shaking hands, for every such photo, i can provide you with at least five of jacques chirac and saddam
