People Use A Bidet For The First Time

Reefie says...

Problem with those is they don't break down quick enough and end up clogging sewer systems if used daily. It's why your parents probably told you never to flush kitchen towel down the toilet either, same problem - just doesn't break down quick enough to prevent blockage.

Toilet paper is designed to avoid this problem (except that waxy shiny toilet paper found in public toilets that probably costs 2 quid for a hundred rolls since nobody wants to buy it).

This boring bit of trivia was brought to you by your local water reprocessing plant!

People Use A Bidet For The First Time

Here in Thailand, it works a little differently. You know those spray nozzle attachments on a hose for your kitchen sink? Here those are attached in parallel with the toilet itself. So, you do your business, then self-aim the sprayer, squeeze, and let 'er rip.

Not to get too graphic, but you know how sometimes due to illness or specific foods or whatever else, you end up using a LOT of toilet paper? Like, you're on wipe number 17 and not getting clear ... spot checks? Water spray completely eliminates that problem. Way cleaner, way easier (once you get used to the sensation), I'm 100% sold.

I still buy toilet paper, but as the dude in the video said, it is purely for drying purposes. And that requires like 1-3 squares, vs probably a bare minimum of 12 or so for my average bathroom visit when I lived in the US.

Lots of Thai bathrooms have the sprayer but NO toilet paper available. That kinda confuses me, because although if I was forced to choose between either/or but not both I'd go with the spray, I don't quite get the mechanics of how to pull it off without any drying whatsoever...

Detroit firefighters use soda cans to get emergency alerts

SFOGuy says...

At one point, the City of Detroit was too poor to buy them toilet paper.
I stopped by the station in this video and gave them a donation.

The documentary "Burn" covers the whole story in an incredibly gripping manner.

ARRESTED FOR ANTI-OBAMA POSTS

chingalera says...

Your perfect-world news-report fantasy works fine in theory, does it?..'peer reviewed' till the cattle are housed in mandatory temporary-to-permanent dirt-floor & barbed-wire accommodations CE??....Maybe your own verbal ticks will develop into a similar, "well, very specifically" when you are NOT being arrested lawfully and tossed into an asylum where a company doctor can render you insane, deprogram you, and use you as an 'example' of what one can or can't say on Facebook?

Forest-for-the-trees lackeys are a dime-a-dozen at a peer-reviewed fantasy camp on the outskirts of (insert city or town near you in the future you've helped to create).

You are already on planet police-state, keep up the fine work and pour-through those tomes of toilet paper and perhaps hone your own 'axe' (a fucking metaphor for reason or wisdom, the kind that cuts both ways....HELLO?!)

How bout an interview?

Sorry, but regardless of whether this story turns out to be accurate or not, @Yogi's stance is completely valid.

One of the major problems in the world now is people who believe things without questioning them. News reports should have to provide evidence, cite sources, etc. If you make a scientific claim in an advertisement, I want to see a peer reviewed study that backs it up.

Butters does have a point though...

Asmo says...

Heh, American's and their huge bowl of water... In Aus, we have a small amount of water at the bottom (1 square of toilet paper covers it nicely and prevents splashback) and then the entire cistern flushes your waste around the sbend, rather than using a pool that drains away, then refills.

Butters does have a point though...

poolcleaner says...

I usually waste a bunch of toilet paper and toss it in before shitting to avoid the splash damage.

Or if you have disposable toilet seat covers, like in public restrooms, cover the seat but don't break the middle part. Instead, let that middle part act as a net, to ease in the deuce. Then just wipe away and the toilet paper acts as the net, coupled with the toilet seat cover.

I haven't had splash damage in quite some time using this method.

He does have a bigger point thou that isn't mentioned: "The Splashback".. You know, the moment when that toilet water shoots up your ass when you drop the deuce... But in fact, Butters gonna have hemorrhoids and possible even worse conditions (never google rectal prolapse...). By facing in, you're back is straight up, thighs are close to 90 degrees to your back.. It's good for offices, typing on your desktop. That is not how humans defecation works. We are squatters, closer you are to fetal position, the better. That leads to straight ejection where as straight up sitting pushes it out in an angle.. Pretty logical but totally opposite to the way we are going. The low seats are rising up all the time.. You may have to use a shallow stool to prop your feet up.

Also, toilet seat designers, if you see this: males have this appendix between their legs. When you sit down it points downwards in approx 45 degree angle. It does not point straight down nor does in simply vanish. Mine is perfectly average size and the toilet seat i have is very conventional, regular unit. Why does my dong has to touch the inside of the rim everytime i poop? And when are you gonna do something about that splashback? never? Thought so, you are pretty much just morons copy pasting 150 year old design that was a hole in a plane and no water beneath. Note, russians made an effort but that is even more horrible than anything we have now; it's basically a flat plane with the water on the front.. Everything fine except that the flat part is so close to your butt that you have to slowly rise, the water does not flush the dookie but you have to move yourself.. The worst toilet seat i've even encountered outside Polish trains.

Man, there's a lot of semi-accidental puns.. Poop is a funny thing, it seems..

Bernie Sanders tears into Walmart for corporate welfare

enoch says...

@chingalera
/chuckles
oh i know man.

my comment was with tongue firmly planted in cheek but my basic point remains the same.

some people have to make concessions in order to survive in this fucked up system.
maybe they have children.
maybe they are married with an asston of debt hanging over their heads.

i am an anarchist.
so i have arranged my life in a way where my participation in this zombie system is shaved to a bare minimum but i also have to recognize that some people do not have that luxury.since i am not living their lives i refuse to judge them.

just look at the comments here.
your assertion of an imagined polemic plays out in this thread, quite conveniently making your point.

we have @bobknight33 posting the heritage foundations position almost verbatim (thanks for responding bob,i like when you participate.sincerely),in regards to capitalism.

then we have @Sagemind posting a more "left" leaning comment.

and then we have the always ironic @lantern53 bemoaning the ills of government.yet his salary is provided by taxpayers, and hence the very government he is deriding.he is such a closet socialist.(loooove you lantern../hugs).

yet all these positions have validity.

the governments role should be criticized and examined.
corporations should be exposed for their undue influence.

this is not a simple issue and it is where i think you and i totally agree.
i too get frustrated when people talk about this subject in a binary way.
it is NOT just a black/white,good/evil,right/left matter.

and when people engage in this form of perception they also tend to demonize the "other" side.
so if someone posits an opinion that happens to be contrarian to ones views, they are automatically dismissed as "wrong" and anything they have to say is discarded as being stupid,ill-thought or just plain downright wrong.

this is the fundamental flaw in this binary thinking.
and it is not by accident but rather by design.

divide and conquer.

in the developed western world we have 30 choices for toilet paper but when it comes to things that TRULY matter?
we get two.

so the true elite and powerful of this country pick their prized horse and offer up to us,the american public,a choice of TWO rich fuckers.
would you like democrat?
or republican?

doesnt really matter who you choose because either one is going to serve their masters.
who of course are wall street and corporate america.
not you or i.

we are fed a constant stream of populist bullshit that gives the appearance of solidarity and nationalism but in reality serves only the corporate masters in fleecing the american people of more and more of their own hard earned:money, rights, liberties and ultimately our independence.

the problems with un-fettered capitalism are well known and well understood.
just as the problems with socialism are well known.

it is the SYSTEM that needs to be challenged and questioned, examined and ultimately discarded if we find it lacking.

and i find it lacking.
morally,socially and financially.

it is time we kill the beast.
because it is feeding on itself and putting us ALL at risk.

bah..you fucker.got me ranting.

let me conclude with this:
i find all structures of power and authority to be illegitimate until proven otherwise.
i find the system of plutocracy currently in place to be illegitimate.
it serves only the upper eschelon and commodifies the poor.
the poor have become fodder for the military industrial complex as well as the private prison system.
the working poor have become cogs in a machine that is slowly crushing them under the weight of the hubris of those who feel entitled to their fortunes and that somehow they are more deserving then their fellow man.

the beast is sick with its own arrogance and needs to be put down.
the only recourse us normal folk have is to stop feeding the beast.

if only 5% stopped going to work and took to the streets you will see a very frightened beast begging us all to the negotiating table.

thats my 2 cents anyways.

I'd be more impressed if they could do it that fast without timeshifting the video. Explosive resupply, it would look like a ship being attacked with potatoes and toilet paper.
