Let's talk about questions and the Potter case....

newtboy says...

There you go again, insisting that if police can’t kill with impunity and immunity, then anarchy will rule, there will be no police, and crime rates will skyrocket, making the US into Thunderdome in months.

Infantile, ignorant, and asinine, police in almost every other country kill far less than American police who kill around 3 people per day on average. In many countries they don’t carry guns, without a massive jump in crime. Imagine that. Are you saying US police are so incompetent that every other nation can police itself without letting them murder over nothing but contempt of cop, but divided America is totally incapable of that type of policing?

I would remind you, in the racist, sexist fantasy time period Trumpists wish to return to, police murdered non whites routinely and without fear. Wanting to return to that is pure racism…not surprising. Also, the Uber rich payed over 90% in taxes, without going bankrupt or just shutting down. Your “capitalist utopia” doesn’t exist without taxes at 3 times what they are now without loopholes. D’oh!
(For tax years 1944 through 1951, the highest marginal tax rate for individuals was 91%, increasing to 92% for 1952 and 1953, and reverting to 91% 1954 through 1963. For the 1964 tax year, the top marginal tax rate for individuals was lowered to 77%, and then to 70% for tax years 1965 through 1981)

I would also remind you how you screamed and cried over that terrorist bitch that was shot attacking the capitol with hundreds of armed violent cohorts that had already murdered and disabled dozens of police. You absolutely wanted that officer prosecuted if not just lynched….for a good shoot of a violent attacking murderer (part of the violent murdering mob makes you a murderer). Your blatant undeniable racist prejudice and obvious hypocrisy are showing, Bobby.

If police need to murder unarmed citizens over misdemeanors, they should absolutely stand down as that makes them the murderous criminal gang, not the police.

Crime will go up and police will do less.
Already at record highs but will go even higher.

Cops should just stand down.

Is Meat REALLY Bad For The Climate?

newtboy says...

Locally, all the beef in my area is grass fed. All unnatural pastures were created as a byproduct of the logging industry, not for cattle. It’s butchered and stays local. I must guess our beef here is that outlier at 9 kg CO2 equivalent per kg….or better.
I also must assume they give no value to the rest of the carcass in their calculations…bone meal, tallow, etc are also valuable commodities not accounted for here.

The biggest issue with food production is the number of mouths to feed. We about 8 billion today and rising. The maximum number that can be supported is estimated to be between 8 and 10 billion, but the maximum that can be sustained naturally without depletion of essential resources is only 1.5 billion, assuming they use the same resources per capita.
To actually be sustainable as a species, we need to eliminate over 80% of the population AND adopt far less destructive behaviors.
Ain’t gonna happen. Start making your chain mail dresses and shoulder pads now, it’s almost time for Thunderdome.

I sincerely hope enough money was made, and George Miller has at least one more in him. I thoroughly enjoy all the films with the exception of Thunderdome.

The Cars that Ate Paris (Peter Weir)

Disturbing Muslim 'Refugee' Video of Europe

newtboy says...

That's the most ridiculous, jingoistic thing I've read in quite a while. Americans are 99% angry cowards who panic at the drop of a hat and flee from car backfires and fireworks.

Society is collectivist. Pure individualism is Thunderdome.

Exceedingly few individualists have ever stood up and fought for it, even fewer are willing to die for it. If you assume Americans will stand up and fight for their rights and freedom, I'll assume you haven't ever paid attention to many Americans.

The word "refugee" DOES exist in the US, because it's descriptive OF the US. A large part of our population are refugees, arguably including many of the founders.

That rifle behind every blade of grass didn't help much in 1812, nor did it scare the Moonies (the only group to ever commit a biological attack on America). Don't be fooled that we intimidate anyone with our armed populace. We are more dangerous to ourselves than to others.

We can do whatever we want in our country. Just as you can do whatever you want in yours. Don't like America or Americans then go to your router and block the CIDR from ARIN.net and you'll never see another one.

Every country should have pride in their country. That's why we stay in our respective countries and will die to defend our country and way of life.

Individualism is freedom
Collectivism is social retardation and revisionism.

So enjoy whatever you want, if you like Islam then by all means be one.

But as an individual I can hate whoever I want and think however I want and associate with whoever I want. That's the freedom of individualism.

Sadly seems you've fallen victim to weak minded movement pushed by political correctness known as Collectivism. And the proof is collectivists HATE individualism and us that stand up for it and will die for it.

And no the word "refugee" don't exist to Americans, we don't run. We all take up arms.

A quote often misattributed to Japan general, but still rings true regardless:

"You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass"

Star Trek Beyond - Trailer 1

Brown Bear Has Heart Attack, Caught On Camera

newtboy says...

I wonder what was wrong with that bear. It was obviously having trouble before they got there to be 'sleeping' out in the open like that. That's not normal bear behavior.
I wonder if they (the state/rangers) did an autopsy.
I've never seen anything like that in nature.
This makes me really sad, and a bit worried that we might start hearing about BCD (Bear Collapse Disorder-related to CCD in bees). I know up here in N California, we have a serious issue with very low water in our rivers causing warm water, which allows toxic algae to bloom, devastating our salmon (and other river fish) population. I have no idea if that's happening in Alaska too.
I wonder if this is related, either from eating tainted fish or drinking the water. It can kill healthy, well fed dogs within minutes of drinking it, so I'm curious what it's doing to the struggling wildlife that has no other source of water. I've not heard or seen any studies on that.
That's likely just one more part of the disaster that is the California drought. Fingers crossed we get some good rain this winter, if not things here are going to get a bit Thunderdome-y.

Mad Max: Fury Road (Trailer #2)

I have to agree...it kind of started with Thunderdome, but now there's no question...
THEY'RE RAPING MY FRIEND!!!!

Holy shit this looks like shit, gotta be kidding me.
They would've been better off not releasing a trailer.

Mad Max: Fury Road

SquidCap says...

Unbelievable.. Just stunning.

Of course since it has two of the most important pieces from the original two films (Thunderdome does not exist in my universe): Director/Creator and the Car.. He even does his own stunts, meaning the real lead actor, the Car aka Pursuit Special.

That is just super cool, i mean, the original Pursuit Special has to be considered a museum piece, an object too valuable for being damaged, a price collection article. So it's kind of same as T. Cruise doing stunts: if something goes wrong it's gonna be bloody expensive.

And this is probably the second time in my life i want to watch a trailer second time.

Mad Max: Fury Road

There was no "Thunderdome" - nor any children or pop stars.
*la la la la - I can't hear you*

Third?
I'm assuming you meant fourth.
Unless you're discounting "Beyond Thunderdome" which in my opinion killed the series.

Although being a reboot, it's like saying, this is part one?

The Punisher: Russian Bus Driver Deliberately Rams Cars

chingalera says...

Seems fairly straight-forward innit, none of these drivers demonstrated passing skills desirous of maintaining the integrity of their chassis, paint, or rear bumpers??

What I wanna know is, what kinna Beyond Thunderdome bumper he's got on his lane-clearing publik transport??

You know, something like this had me pissed off at first considering road rage is something that demonstrates what happens when we take away a few "communicative devices" like body language and differences in "personal space" comfort levels, but....

Exactly, people who espouse to be anarchists or libertarians only really want to be up to a point. They always seem to be quite happy to take those things that are provided by living in a society, but seem to get shirty when that entails paying taxes to fund such things.
Strange that.

....until a band of vicious outlaws takes them from you, captures you and forces you to fight to the death with other prisoners in a makeshift gladiatorial arena they've dubbed 'The Thunderdome'.

I use the compulsory services I'm forced to pay for. Yes. Government has a monopoly on violence, so I must use their armies and police. They've a monopoly on first class mail, so I use their postal service. They also maintain a monopoly on property, so I use their roads to move about and live on the land they claim to own.

Problem?
