Empire Files: Abby Martin Exposes Steve Bannon

kir_mokum says...

i never claimed anything in regard to the veracity of the truth at the core of what she's reporting. my problem is that she is ham fisted, theatrical, and painfully biased in her reporting which is hard to watch even when that bias is in line with mine.

The tone you hear is total disgust at who this man is. It is wholly and totally founded in truth.

Second on boo for the theatrics; it's a good recap of him from stories I've heard elsewhere and good to see put together, but I could do without the theatrics and a couple of odd non-sequiturs throughout.

The Young Turks - Who Will Be In Trump's Cabinet

Cenk Uygur can become tiresome, but he was pretty good last night in their coverage and kept my attention well, i was actually quite impressed. I really don't care for the rest of the lineup though. The guy on the right is the epitome of impotent rage, stumbling over his words, making complicated points poorly, a fretting, nervous, often very pink man in an ill fitting suit. At times reminded me of the main character from Limitless at his drug-binge/mental breakdown apex, with tight claustrophobia inducing collars riding up around his neck, the crispness of which contrasting and highlighting the beads of sweat, speaking too quickly and spitting. The guy on the left thinks he's 10 times cooler than he is, which is all the more annoying because he is actually a little bit cool - if he didn't think he was so cool, he'd be pretty cool! I could handle Sarkeezian's imperious hauteur - hell i'd find it very attractive - if it wasn't so obviously an act. She found herself compelled to leave the studio for a stiff drink at some point, presumably to bask in the moment when she theatrically interrupted the depleted panel and announced her actions proudly, claiming she was now in a feisty mood before ranting at types of people she blamed. I even think she used some kind of tv-friendly profanity; if you have the wherewithal to soft-censor your 'uncontrolled' outburst, you're faking it. Whatever kind of Don Draper scene she'd staged to pad her portfolio of career highlights, her disappointing final rant meandered down well trodden paths.

"The Political News Media Lost Its Mind"

Lol, you just quoted Russia Today, the Western arm of the Russian propaganda machine. Of course they want to paint their histrionic theatrics as 'scaring' the West. How did that turn out? (hint: aside from Russia still owning Crimea, which apparently nobody can do anything about, everything is fine.)

Of course, in keeping up his love of and commitment to histrionic theatrics, Trump praises Putin. Whadda guy.

Slipknot on why they wear masks

newtboy says...

Understandable....but I meant I was disappointed in the video not mentioning them, not your comment.
As a group famous for being masked and gory theatrics on stage, it seemed reasonable to expect them to mention at least one of the major groups that started the genre. Maybe they do in the full version?
I was lucky enough to see GWAR in a tiny club in East Oakland in the 80's. They didn't have room for a lot of their bigger stuff, but still put on a great show in a club with at least double capacity of young punks. When it was over at about 2am, the punks spilled out into the East Oakland streets and instantly a dozen street fights broke out! What a night!

Touche, I shouldn't have left GWAR out, although I still haven't seem them live technically. They were rained out this summer at Riot Fest and all we got was a ton of fake blood shot out over everyone and a brief glimpse of their costumes. I think their equipment was probably damaged even, it went from dry as their set started to a torrential downpour traveling horizontal in seconds.

Kiss was a little before my time, so I haven't had the urge to go see them live, although I do enjoy their music and influence.

My list was only bands I've seen live =P

They are really amazing live, the masks and the overall theatrics of the show were great. Hollywood Undead also has some great masks, but Mudvayne was the first I saw really dressing up, with their face paint.

Sometimes I have mixed feelings about a song, and seeing the video makes me hate it. Opposite reaction here, this is great. The kinda cheesy refrains works with the theatrics and *dance

Bad/Smooth Criminal Piano Mash-up With Exceptional Skill

mxxcon says...

Misleading. What you see is not what you hear.
The sound is in stereo and there's no way the way it was recorded to have come out that way. Furthermore, music does not match up with his actions. And finally, you can hear more than just piano.

This kid skillful, yes. But what we here are theatrics and not his real playing.
