Guy Says Words Backwards in Seconds

MarineGunrock says...

I wonder if he has some sort of sensory cross-over synesthesia, like Daniel Tammet, who sees numbers that have their own unique shape, color and texture.

Maybe this guy just "sees" the words written backwards as he hears them, and just reads them.

Also, these guys are high as fuck and the way that moron was holding the shotgun with his finger in the trigger well makes me want to slap him. Not for being high, but for (poorly) dealing with firearms in an altered state of mind.

High Strung Cat vs. Guitar

shinyblurry says...

I have a cat like this and her heart beats way faster than normal..i think its a vibrational thing..

>> ^artician:
It's my belief that some species naturally have Synesthesia. While we're just hearing the guitar, that cat could be seeing all sorts of colors or motion. I only recently had this hypothesis because we adopted an old cat a few years ago that reacts really similarly to certain noises. It's always as though they're experiencing the sound physically or visually.
I wish I could forward this comment to a scientist who cared.

eh it's not so bad. I have a very strong sense of smell and my monitor is braile enabled.

Heh, I suppose that would cause some problems. Must be hard to use a place like videosift like that.

In reply to this comment by residue:
well, I am clinically blind, so maybe that's the problem.

Heh, I don't know what to tell you. I've tried it on myself and others where it works fine. It could mean that you don't use your eyes as much for speech recognition. Try watching his mouth intently and hear again.

For me it turns to a mix between dada/gaga instantly if I look, and baba when I don't look. A controlled synesthesia, I think it's super interesting and mind-freaking.

In reply to this comment by residue:
that's a little disconcerting. I watched it again and I'm only getting "ba-ba"

In reply to this comment by gwiz665:
@thinker247 & @residue: I think it's your brains' that aren't doing their job. Might be the low resolution picture or.. other anomalies.

Works fine for me.

Chart Wars: The Political Power of Data Visualization

bamdrew says...

Its sounds to me like bogus, super-rounded fMRI data. What about when you're asleep? What about when you're doing intense physical activity? What about when you're listening to music? Difficult to do fMRI in each of these conditions.

All I'm saying is the point could have been made without the unsupported statistic.

Exclusively from the eyes, except for people with synesthesia...and people on acid.>> ^bamdrew:
visual info takes up 50% of brains resources? where the hell is that coming from
