Captain Marvel (Shazam) Will Fucking Kill You

Heh, I never knew this existed. It totally reminds me of Superman with George Reeves I used to <3 watching a callow ant. However, Superman is still better.

Batman vs. Darth Vader

notarobot says...

I might expand this point to Vader's character (original trilogy.) Wouldn't Vader recognize a cunning opponent and attempt to persuade him to cross over? Bruce Wayne already started using the force a little, hasn't he? (Light Sabre?) A line or two about how Batman already treads near the Dark Side already, and how he could make a powerful ally to the empire ("Join me," or "don't make me destroy you,") could have added some depth to the story of an otherwise wonderfully produced short. (Plus, they captured Superman??? What is Batman doing in Space? How did they capture Superman? What else is going on?)

Anyways, if the goal of this video was to leave the audience wanting more, it's succeeded in me. I want answers.

Cool video. But, as a Batman fan I downvote this on principle alone...

Hmm, so this continues after JL: War. I'm mixed on it though. War was interesting. But I found some characters' personality to be too unfamiliar now. Both GL and Superman have some kind of arrogant attitude that felt unfitting. Seeing that this will be a continuation (since it featured the same cast), I'm not too sure if this'll be any good. I guess I just don't like this reboot.

Seth Green is pretty passionate about Batman

ChaosEngine says...

wait what, Seth?
"Superman is like I won't ever kill people and Batman is like you do what you gotta do"

Er, no. Not at all. Batmans whole schtick is not killing. Ever.
Not even the joker.

X-Men: Days of Future Past -Quicksilver Scene

spawnflagger says...

a villain could still kill Quicksilver in his sleep... couldn't do that to Superman (at least not without kryptonite-plated weapon and uber-ninja silence. Wait, does Superman even sleep?

Since time is relative, I'm having a hard time seeing what's different between Quicksilver's power and The Flash. any experts can comment?

Zack Schnyder and Goyer are worse than Michael Bay.
At least Bay didn't make Superman into a violent murderer.

It's kind of a metaphor for what APAC wants America to be.

Exploring Man of Steel

ChaosEngine says...

Yeah, so halfway through and he's just finished the bit about Sucker Punch. Gonna have to stop you there, buddy. I *have* seen Sucker Punch along with all of Snyders other movies (except the owl thing).

He's a technically gifted director, but he's at his best when he's adapting material (300, Dawn of the Dead). His Watchmen was a solid adaptation of the source material, but it completely missed the point of the original (which was to highlight the strengths of comics as a medium). Stripped of all it's little nuances, Watchmen is a decent if unremarkable superhero movie, whereas the comic is a work of genuine literary innovation.

As for the rest of the video, if you have to make a video like this is explain why the movie is not bad, then clearly the movie failed to connect with it's intended audience. Even if there is an explanation for each of those story points (and his dads death is still retarded), it doesn't matter. Taken as a whole the movie just feels wrong. And frankly, by the end, I was bored. I had no investment in any of the characters.

And the final comment is utter bollocks. Yeah, Superman's been an asshole in the comics. Hell, I've never even really been a fan of Superman (stories involving an indestructible being with near god like strength aren't that interesting). But you've just spent 15 minutes explaining why it's a good movie despite those previous attributes, so I can't respond with my (equally subjective) opinion?

This is a pretty good summary
