Haha. I just discovered you worked on Subway Surfers. That's so awesome! My kids love that game; they're little pros at it.

What part(s) of the game did you work on?

Sheffield to Essex journey via Berlin?- BBC News

This is a fair and accurate example of how reasonably priced trains are in England.

By way of another example, a U-Bahn (subway) ticket in Berlin is around 1 euro to go anywhere in the city (perhaps it's gone up since but still). To do the same for a few stops in London can often be in the region of £20+.

They are also slow as shit due to the generally low speed limits across most of the network. If you are lucky enough to be on one and not a hastily co-opted bus.

We might possibly have the worst (or least least value for money) rail service in the 1st world, though I'm prepared to consider counter examples.

Why the suspended monorail failed

newtboy says...

Yes, but subway systems have spur tracks and track switches built in so a single broken train doesn't stop the line....usually. They aren't all really 'single lined' because you can often put a north bound train on the south bound track for a bit to get around a broken train/track/switch....not so on monorails.
Still, it seems like those problems can be solved if they wanted to. A triple tracked monorail would have been insanely cheaper and simpler than the Big Dig.

A subway system is very expensive to build and they are all over the world. Also, subway lines are single lined, so when a failure occurs, the whole line, or a full section between two nodes is halted.

There is an interesting project in Quebec to develop a kind of intercity high-speed monorail system : http://www.trensquebec.qc.ca
it is said to be cheaper than a high speed train. It would use shuttles and be installed above the expressway.

We want more monorails!

Rude Guy Gets Pepper Sprayed

@rbar
satire my man.satire.
tongue planted firmly in cheek.

this video was reminding me of the subway video where a woman was verbally assaulting this dude, and then she made it physical, and got popped in the mouth for her troubles.

and the sift verdict?
it was the mans responsibility.he should have walked away.even though everyone agrees that the woman was in the wrong..still the mans responsibility.

so in both that case and this one,BOTH were being juvenile and antagonistic and BOTH should bear responsibility for the end results.

and that is the only fair and just metric we should use to judge situations such as these.

but there are those who engage in a mental gymnastics as to twist reality to fit their perpetually offended and morally outraged narrative.

i.e:that this woman is the victim.

nope.this is just two assholes engaging in assholery.

What Would You Do if You Were This Guy?

Thanks for that explanation, @enoch. I do admit I didn't see it/remember it by the time I got to the end.

I don't agree with you or @newtboy about the pop in the mouth being okay though. It isn't a gender thing. If this was an altercation between two men or two women, to take disparity of size out of it, the pop in the mouth is out of line to me.

Walk. Away. MLK. Gandhi. My self defense instructor. All say the same thing. Walk. Away.

Or in the parlance of parents -- use your words. No hitting.

I know this is a big leap -- but we invaded the SOVEREIGN NATION of Iraq, because we were afraid. If we can't have the maturity to deal with one person on a subway, then it leads to not having the maturity to deal with larger issues.

Walk. Away.

Don't you want this to turn out to real?

The pain and misery which is ultimately the mediocrity of subway kindness viral videos. We are cursed with what we are doing here. The internet is a land that, if God exists, he created in anger. Overwhelming misery, overwhelming fornication, overwhelming lack of order. There is no harmony in the universe as we have conceived it.

But you don't hate it. You love it very much... against your better judgement.
