Why I Turned Down The Matrix | STORYTIME

lucky760 says...

That is a phenomenal first-hand story and well told.

HOWEVER

I am totally buying what he retold what the Watchowskis were selling him. That sounded awesome. He clearly wasn't the right audience for that kind of talk.

I also like that he says he did us all a favor. Thank you, Will.

Maybe he'll star in the remake the studio is working on (without the Wachowskis). I know no details about that one and can only assume it's going to pale in comparison to the original.

So...... you are somewhat into other guy's "pen's?" Either way, it doesn't matter to me. As long as you can get it to write on the subway walls and tenement halls and studio walls and concert halls.

You won't have to. They pay, you make a ton of money, and then they take most of it. (after all, they have to pay for all the things in the credits at the end.

1) I'm not that into other guy's "pens"
2) I don't pay for that

The Prayer - Marcelito Pomoy Male/Female Parts Same Person

Impressive vocals but that seemed prerecorded, not live in a radio studio.

(edit) Watching others from the same radio station, seems they have a studio type set up for these musical performances. Recording quality seems amazing.

No one is offering you money yet because you don't know what your power is.
Why do you think I've been asking you for your pen? I know you know I wasn't expecting you to mail it to me! lol

If you are a horrific salesman, you've been trying to sell the wrong product. You need to believe in your product.

Perhaps, and that's nice of you to say, but no one's offering me money yet, nor is anyone asking me to write for them. I'm a horrific salesman, so trying to sell myself is just not going to work. I tend to point out the faults in the product I'm supposed to be selling.

I agree, those who write for the money rather than to spread ideas are far less effective or honest than those who write to illuminate. It would be nice if the latter was rewarded more than the former, but that's not the world I live in.

Judges will find me?! Like Dredd?! Oh shit....I better hide in the deep dark behind the sewer roaches.

Inside America's First Private Terminal For Millionaires

SFOGuy says...

Sure, why not? I mean...have you ever seen the footage of a clearly exhausted Matt Damon coming into LAX with his wife and kids---and quietly, but tiredly, asking TMZ video and the paparazzi to please leave them alone on this pass because: kids and tired?

It's hard to be sympathetic all the celebrities--they want attention and then they don't. But everyone who was hunted by cameras all the time---well, why not ask your agent to get the studio to pay for this?

BEL-AIR

Drachen_Jager says...

That would work as a Netflix series or something.

I mean it's not so different from Riverdale or Sabrina. I'd be surprised if some studio exec doesn't decide to run with this.

Still Alive - Frank Sinatra Version (The 8-Bit Big Band)

SFOGuy says...

This can't be a gag; it's too expensive for that---that many studio musicians, called at Union scale, plus the recording studio time, then the sound engineer's time...
What are the economics of this? Why does it wonderfully exist?

Also This:

"Initially the band hat contacted me way back in 2014 to produce and record their live debut album. They had a monthly residency at the well known domicil jazz club in Dortmund at the time. Titled “Filou presents…” the band hosted a show with a guest band every third Wednesday of the month, often sharing the stage altogether for one massive jam at the end of the night. The guest bands included well-known German jazz acts but often bands that push the boundaries of jazz in some way or another (Sommerplatte, Cosmo Klein, Xaver Fischer, among others). The monthly residence gave Filou the chance to experiment with unusual stage concepts. As a result, they came up with the idea to dissolve the barrier between stage and audience for the live show.

So instead of going to the studio to create a regular album, Filou wanted to create a live recording capturing all their energy and live show experience as their debut record. The concept of making the audience become part of the stage setting also sparked the idea of abandoning a PA system and providing headphones for the audience instead. It’s a very unique experience for the concert goer and obviously turned out to be a slam dunk for me to ensure the best possible audio quality without the usual PA and monitor trash in the mics

Sagemind says...

They are in the recording studio, everything is going trough the mics. This is a live recording performance.

Found this description for you.

"It's recorded in live conditions but I guess guitars , keyboards use no amps but are directly plugged to the recording console. So the audience couldn't benefit of the full mix without headphones. They'd hear only acoustic instrument and no amplified ones."
