Sydney Powell, Trump’s ex lawyer, is defending herself from disbarment for filing numerous frivilous lawsuits….her defense? “Maybe my claims are true”…her evidence? “Many people believe it (after I spent months convincing them, even after I admitted it was just hyperbole not fact), and “many Republican legislatures are creating biased election laws to fight against the frauds I claimed…..so maybe it’s true.”
That’s not a defense, it’s not even a debate point, and it’s so ridiculous it might lead to her defense lawyer being disbarred!

With the records Trump tried to hide, steal, burn, shred, etc mostly being recovered, things are looking pretty shitty for your “destroy democracy and blame anyone else” “murderous violent sedition is legitimate political discourse” “wasn’t me” team.

We have a steam train through the redwoods near us called the Skunk Train, an old logging rail that’s now for tourists. It’s a nice day trip into the woods between Ft Bragg and Willits, sometimes with costumed performances.
There’s another awesome one just inland from Santa Cruz with a redwood loop track in the mountains and a trip from the woods to the boardwalk (and back) on offer.
The Durango to Silverton (Colorado) steam train was another memorable trip, I went around 1980.

LOL very close to what I do for a living, actually. Slightly less messy than in the video, pre-saturated, steam expanded and hardened on site, also works as a chimney flue liner.

know electric trollies were also a thing, but they were sabotaged by gasoline concerns (killed) because read the history of the one that use to run in our small mid-western town.

anyway...electric vehicles were viable then and if other concerns (like GMC) were kept at bay...100 years later we just might be driving all-electric vehicles (maybe flying them - we were supposed to have those by now).

necessity being the mother of invention, it only makes sense to keep the future (electric cars, solar-power, etc) alive. if the nation doesn't, china (or other visionaries) may capture the solar-driven land speeder market.

2) kids in China did not - that is borderline silly. Creating and marketing the iphone created a DEMAND, the MARKET had been in place already (the US constitution, the fed, the dollar, cellular infrastructure, people free to buy things of their own will, the internet et cetera et cetera et cetera ad nauseam - takes a lot of preconceptions to be able to sell such a product)

Basic research does not equal fast progress though. You can be as clever as Archimedes or Leonardo but steam trains require capitalism to make sense. Iphones required masses of rich crazy americans to take off - a market and demand. Without a market and demand (or a war) progress is slow as f***.

Nice retrospective, I had gone back and replayed the original and it's two expansions a little while back. I had totally forgotten that there even was a 2 and 3, so I snatched 2 on GOG for pocket change and I can only get 3 on Steam, so maybe later.

Using it usually means contaminating or evaporating it. The latter will be recouped eventually by simple condensation, but the former is often a difficult process to reverse and often can be permanent.
