What it feels like to climb skyscrapers - New York City

BSR says...

I felt like I was gonna fall into the video!

When I was 15 my friend and I would walk on the top and the bottom of railroad bridges across the Delaware river. Once in while a pigeon would startle us when we startled it in its nest.

The view at the top not so much for me.

Grandma WAS Afraid Of Dogs Until…

BSR says...

My mother was afraid of any animal with teeth. So we never had a pet as kids.

Later in life I took a job traveling to malls with pet stores around the country taking portrait photos of pets, mostly cats and dogs. Out of the ordinary I photographed a Goldfish, a three month old cougar, two snakes, a sheep and a mouse.

I had only got one animal that tried to attack me. A guy in jumpsuit brought his medium but very muscular and VERY hyper pitbull. It wasn't big but it looked dangerous. I got the owner to sit him on the floor and stay after a few tries.

I got only one shot. Normally I would take about eight shots in different positions. When I triggered the camera the three flash units startled the dog and he went right for me. Luckley the owner was ready for it and quickly grabbed the dogs' collar and stopped him just in time.

At the end of the shoot the only poop I had to clean up was my own and unlike my mother I only fear muscular pitbulls.

sound like we agree the dog was scared but to what degree. for me its zero tolerance. i see the dog standing still, staring directly at him, knowing the man is aggravated and owner is startled too. you can see the dog go into sunken stature with ears back still staring. dog clearly knows something is wrong.

also agree she's (the bigger) asshole for doing this, but as a life-long dog owner you see this conflict play out countless times and usually using a normal voice to talk to the person is enough and you gain a new dog friend.

she seems to be a good doggo owner (takes dog for walks, dog has a jacket and seems happy otherwise) and hopefully this incident will help her close the gap on being an awesome pet owner.

Come on….the dog was only startled….it was perfectly fine after the initial hop off his yard, not acting a bit scared IMO.
I say kudos for not letting her make ridiculous excuses, which she seemed to be attempting.

Asshole for intentionally leaving shit in his front yard. Turnabout if fair play, so invocation of *asshole ignored. 😉

Turkey broke into my truck

jmd says...

mxx, unfortunately the turkey is neither owned by or in control by the trucker. You could no better sue him for the turkey running out the door into traffic then you could walking along the side of the road and startling a deer who runs into the road and hits a car.

I think he could have done better to safely remove it but alas ...

Avalon Airshow Takes Raving To The Next level

newtboy says...

Oh....I didn't say it worked! ;-)
His glasses were 3/4 inch thick afterwards. I went with him to get his new pair shortly after surgery, he drove, and the difference was startling. I realized he couldn't see a thing on the drive there. I thought he had been joking when he asked if the lane was clear when there was a bus beside us....I was wrong.

I guess in the end it did work, as well as expected in the 80's. He still could barely see with bulletproof thickness glasses, but he wasn't completely blind.

Superb use of a laser---and glad it worked. The mechanism of it working, if I recall correctly, is the burning and scarring of the retinas that have detached "scars" them down onto the the back of the eyeball again...

No Option To Turn Off FEMA's Pending "Presidential Alert"

I dare you not to find this mind-blowing!

I find all the sexist comments unbelievable. I guess some folks have issues with their self-identity even into adulthood.

These are two beautiful dancers with great strength, agility and creativity. I have two daughters who were in classical ballet for 9 years and we all enjoy this amazing dance. Between my oohs and aahs of the many startling movements, I laughed and laughed.

This video is about a dance, not you.--Gloria

The GOP’s Corrupt Bargain with "Reckless," "Erratic" Trump

newtboy says...

Bronte, a Republican Trump appointment

Yates-fired for warning about Flynn's crimes and refusing to implement the illegal Muslim ban, not for legitimate cause, not for malfeasance

Comey- the Republican man who personally handed Trump the presidency by publicly claiming Clinton was still under criminal investigation (she wasn't, and there was no new evidence) and hiding that Trump was under investigation for treasonous behavior with the Russians, a man who Trump praised lavishly until he wouldn't politicize the FBI into Trump's weapon, he deserved far worse than firing.

McCabe- another Republican Trump appointment, fired for working hard on the Trump Russia probe

Rosenstein- another Republican Trump appointee accused of not illegally politically interfering in the Trump Russia probe for Trump, not crime

>1/2 of your swamp clearing was Republican muck brought in by Trump himself. Hilariously you forgot all the other Trump chosen cabinet members removed for criminal actions, convictions not accusations....more than any other administration except Nixon after Watergate....with many more pending.

If you want to clean the swamp, you would vote Democrat, the comparison of criminal convictions by administration is startling.

But in your mind, the only crime is not being an unpatriotic criminal for Trump's personal gain. You should be leading the #derpstate

16 seconds: The Killing of Anita Kurmann

Digitalfiend says...

Perhaps my emphasis on the words "no one" was a bit much but while riding I'm much less trusting of driver behaviour than when I'm in my car because the outcome of a collision will greatly favour the driver. So yes, obviously you have to trust people to an extent but you have to keep aware of careless inattention, maliciousness, etc.

I've ridden for about 8 years now (for fitness/competition) and have seen and experienced some crazy shit where I ride (primarily rural roads, some small towns, etc). I will never forget the time an older gentleman waved me down for directions while I was riding. I cut my interval short, turned around, and helped point him in the right direction. As I resumed my ride, he blew by me without leaving me much room, startling me as I had let my guard down trusting that this guy was going to pass me safely. I was shocked.

So yeah, I'm very wary of all drivers when riding.

Buttle said:

It's fun to say that you never trust anyone, but that can't literally be true. For example, I trust thousands of drivers standing at red lights or stop signs not to charge out and run me over. It would be almost impossible to move in traffic without relying on most drivers to do the right thing most of the time.
