Deputy Body-Slamming Child To Ground Twice At Middle School

JiggaJonson says...

Don't blame the union. Unions have ways of sidestepping that process and contracts have provisions for people to be fired for blatant and flagrant violations of the law.

He wouldn't be on administrative leave if he drove his cruiser through a crowd full of kids while he was drunk. Similarly, there's no investigation to be done here.

He attacked a child - and if there was a reason to justify the first assault, I'm assuming it's the usual "police presumed to be acting in good faith" would be thrown up because that's fair ^eye-roll^; even that doesn't hold up to the second slam. The second slam is an individualized version of a squad-car running through a crowd. It's blatant, flagrant, and criminal.

We need to stop treating COPs (citizens on patrol) like a class of citizens that can get away with this shit or receive any special treatment. If that man was a custodian, he'd be fired on the spot and arrested. Then if he was black it wouldn't matter if his hands were laid flat on the ground and he was spread eagle screaming "I AM NOT RESISTING ARREST AND AM UNARMED" someone would shout

He's on paid administrative leave because that's what the union contract stipulates. The reason being he shouldn't be penalised because he's waiting for the outcome of the investigation.

He's been removed from the situation.

The process is to protect the unjustly accused, not benefit the guilty.

Dashcam Video Of Alabama Cop Who Shot Man Holding His Wallet

Digitalfiend says...

So many dumb mistakes in the video...

The cop was definitely in the wrong shooting the guy and if he had waited just a half a second longer, his brain probably would have registered that the guy was complying and simply holding his wallet; i.e. not a threat. The cop was likely in a defensible position, behind the squad car, so taking that extra time before using lethal force was likely doable. But that is a lot of assumptions from my comfortable office chair.

Still, to just leave the guy laying on the ground after shooting him and then continuing to bark commands at him like he's still a threat...ugh. I've seen so many wrongful shooting videos where this happens, so it makes you wonder if it is a policy thing to minimize potential for a greater lawsuit (e.g. what if rolling the guy over to address his gunshot wound causes further damage, etc); perhaps it is to protect the officer from viral infection. Who knows, but it certainly seems callous and cold hearted.

With that said, the driver is a moron getting out of his vehicle like that. Wtf. You live in a country where your police officers are all too frequently shooting unarmed citizens by mistake and you decide to jump out of your car with your dark wallet? For what purpose? Turn off the car, turn on your cabin light, roll down the window, and wait for the officer to approach. Only reach for your wallet/permit when you're asked for your ID. Seems like common sense to me.

Cops Getting Caught On Video Hasn't Led To Convictions

newtboy says...

Bob
You're so dishonest. You've said clearly that you go to bed hating me. ;-)

In the tape, I see the clear opportunity to plant evidence (with no other explanation for what he was doing retrieving something in his squad car after shooting him but before he's even removed from the car, and sitting in the victims car with his body camera off), which he hides from the cameras in his uniform instead of showing it off to bystanders in his hands, and when tested, the gun only had the officers DNA and fingerprints, and the victim wasn't wearing gloves, the cop was. No explanation given for any of that.
Edit: that's motive, means, and opportunity, and unexplained evidence with no other reasonable explanation.
Case closed.

EDIT: Given the exact same circumstances but a black citizen shooting another citizen, then performing the exact same hyper suspicious actions, you would absolutely, zero question in my mind, say it's incontrovertible that the black man murdered the other man and planted a gun and drugs to get away with it.

Funny, you and your side of the isle has spent at least 8 years in the streets over sour grapes, now you suddenly think you're reasonable and thoughtful....but you don't even understand the words.

If blacks were killing officers at the rate that officers are killing blacks, you would say they've declared open season on law enforcement...oh wait, you've already said that, even though cops actually kill 25 times more citizens than people kill cops, and by far most of those citizens are black.

bobknight33 said:

Newt, As much as I like you I just don't' see wrong doing on the tape below. Where in the tape do you see the planting?

The moments in question of the planting starts around 625 in the tape below.

I see nothing in his hands when he exits his vehicle nor do I see anything as he walks around before he enters the suspects vehicle.

It not an open season on blacks, just justified actions of men in blue.

Delusional grownups seeing things that are not true. Hoping against hope for it to be so. Only to have the truth of the law burst their bubble. Sour grapes and protesting in the streets are the outlet of those without the ability of thought and reason.

Massive Idiot Escapes Helicopter on Motorcycle

Magicpants says...

Using the spotlight seems to just make the problem worse. The police ought to just follow him home and send a squad car for him.

Also, how long before police helicopters are replaced by drones?

Today on 'Abusive Cops'....More Abuse

KrazyKat42 says...

I know several bar bouncers (not trained police officers) who have told me that any 5 trained men can restrain any one man, no matter what.

They should have just cuffed him and thrown him into a squad car.

End of story.

Cops doing good deeds

Nephelimdream says...

This is all fine and dandy, and kudos to people who take time to help others, but in my experiences......cops can still go fuck themselves. Not to worry though lantern53, I've never dealt with you in uniform, as far as I know. I bet you're the bee's knees. I can't judge you there. Maybe I'll even polish up your badge for ya one day. Press your uniform. Tune up the ol' squad car. I just hope someone makes a video of it, and it's posted here. So we can all hold hands and sing kumbaya, while the siftbot joyfully sheds a single unifying tear.

Flee from the scene? NOT ON MY WATCH!!

bamdrew says...

Oh, its in Phoenix. Its too damn hot to try hard there, especially in an all black outfit... makes perfect sense to throw suspected miscreants against cement walls to stop them from sweatily sauntering away.

Really she's lucky she wasn't drive-by tased from an air-conditioned squad car. Too hot for Lady Justice in Phoenix.

maddow-the authoritarian takeover of michigan

kceaton1 says...

What a horrific injustice. Nearly racism. Cops really are that dumb; how can you agree and go along with that? I would rather lose my job, even if I NEEDED to pay bills--I could never willingly destroy or be part of something so heinous. I would be an active voice and try to appeal to congress--outside of Michigan. I would physically leave that place. As these girls are in the same scenario I am if I have a family and I'm ruining their life by putting them in my squad car.

NOTHING can rectify nor satisfy a conditional response for me to feel justified in doing "my job".

FUCK that governor and his cronies. This is madding'ly absurd...

Man cleared after video shows he did not batter officers

swedishfriend says...

>> ^Payback:

You know, I'd like to see a video where a horrifically violent perp gets a measured response from one or two of the OTHER millions of cops rather than the couple dozen -who are complete fucktards- that make their way on here.

ps. It's fairly obvious the guy who got beat down touched the cop while being fairly aggressive. Showing off for the chicks. Not a good idea. That actually IS battery on a police officer. You can get charged with assault on a police officer by bumping his squad car while he's trying to pull you over.

Guy had his hands in his pockets. As for other cops with measured response: There aren't enough of them to stop the crappy ones so I think your ratio is way off. Even though cops get away with murder and many other crimes they still have higher rates of criminal convictions than the general population. Honorable people would rather volounteer as a firefighter (more dangerous, better culture) than become a police officer. The whole police culture needs to change in order for the right people to even want to apply. As long as the people in charge punish cops who try to do the right thing and protect the fucktards who are there to get away with things and feel powerful how are things going to get better?

And people being dismissive of the problem doesn't help either.

Bees Swarm Sheriff's Car

Tymbrwulf says...

>> ^LarsaruS:

They are probably attracted to the electromagnetic fields from the radio. Look at the mass of bees at the antenna.

Nonsense, he was obviously transporting flowers and expensive perfume for his lovely wife in the trunk of the squad car!

[Raw Video] Drunk Off-duty Officer Fires Gun in Squad Car

Shepppard says...

>> ^Morganth:

How is shouting really loudly at the drunk lady with the gun going to make her want to drop it more? Clearly, she'll listen to logic. Maybe the other officers also have weapons drawn?
Also, why does she have her gun? Of all people, a police officer should know that if you're going out to drink, leave the gun at home.

It was an ankle revolver, I would like to make it clear, this was not a state-issued gun, and was not sitting around her waist.

The >only< reason she wasn't searched, was because this was basically being treated as "We're driving our friend home" and not "We're taking a suspect into custody"
Try smuggling a revolver into a cop car in the first place, they frisk you. Then, should you make it into the car, with your gun somehow being left undiscovered, you've got cuffs on and your arms behind your back.

Everything is basically interchangeable here, instead of two "cops" driving her home, it's two "friends". Instead of a squad car, it's an 09 lincoln. The gun was not police issue, but her own private firearm.
I don't see why the fact that this involves "Cops" really has anything to do with anything other then the fact that they were able to de-escalate the situation pretty quickly after the shot was fired.

The reason the two cops that were in uniform are in trouble is because they treated this like I said, as "we're driving a friend home".

Basically, a quote from the article sums this up perfectly, "The officers were trying to do the right thing but did it in the wrong way"
