I always particularly loved the long, line-thin, arms and legs with round hands and feet, and the way they tend to gallop around a lot.

My kids were a bit small to really appreciate it when it was on tv here, several years ago, but I showed them the video tonight and they liked it much more. Until then I was going to say it's wasted on children. I might have to buy the dvd now.

Cat's Cradle left me puzzled at first (was it in the wft channel???) but as it went on I found it more and more humourous. I don't think I would've watched enough to get into it without your comment, so thanks

Thanks for this awesome link!!
I love that show -- you know what, I worked for that company in Berlin on an Asterix film and I'm sure the little critters in that video were just heading into design as I was leaving. They have such a knack for cute characters. The world needs more of that kind of humour. Love the ants getting ready for work haha...

Cat's Cradle is such a weird film! I never really 'got' it, but I adored the shaggy linework. I'm a huge Driessen fan. There are a couple of newer ones he's done with split screens that show the same story from different perspectives -- or other splits like land, sea, air.. I'd really like to see those again.

It's great to see such amazing animation here.

Have you seen this before? http://videosift.com/video/Ted-Siegel-s-Wildlife

I only posted it because your comment on "Cat's cradle" got me to watch it (loved it btw, the moral would have be be "be kind to spiders"?) and then that reminded me of this.

Conan works for Best Buy

... hmm, I always imagined they had security cameras at Best Buy.

... also,... Conan is awesome.

They do, however, I won't go into full details on how the security works, but there's usually the guy who greets you on the way in. He's got a monitor infront of him with all the cameras in the store on a 4-split screen. They can put whichever camera they want into one of those slots and are able to control its movement so it can watch up and down isles.. Sometimes if someone went out of view, they'd call a code, been ages, can't remember what it is, but it's to make all the employees go to hot spots, and in our store, blow a clown "Honk Honk" horn.

The horns were placed in strategic areas the camera couldn't see well, so it would essentially sound "fun" while at the same time get employees to cover areas where something was potentially going on. However, they'd sometimes slip up, especially in the CD dept. because since they're the cheapest item in the store, they're not high on priority.

Once anyone, but for continuing the story, we'll use me, found a wrapper of a movie or CD, you take it to the front of the store to the "greeter" and they log the time as to go over that part of the cam footage later, and try to catch the person should they come in again.

However, my manager didn't care about watching the footage, and just used those kinds of excuses to keep the less qualified person on instead of me.

Balancing rocks

It's fake, he does it like derren brown did the national lottery prediction.

See he's using a 16-way split screen with 16 guys holding the rocks but each image overlaps to cover where the hands are. The only difficult bit was how he managed to get the randomised waves in each of the 16 segments to sync up to make a natural looking sea/lake.

Nice try bill dan, but you gotta get up pretty early in the morning to slip a 16-way split screen and wave synchronisation past me. Amateur.

I used to play this so much! I had a 3DFX Voodoo1 and this game supported it - I used to play two player split screen with my older brother I think we also managed to get some crazy models and modes inlocked...I seem to remember we raced as school buses and cardboard boxes

Unlike some NFS titles, it actually felt fast too...

Most entertaining high-speed chase EVER!

When they show the split screen the commentator informs us of where to find the erratic driving footage.

"...you can take a look (where?) on the left hand side of your screen there (no, still not seeing it) in the box (ooh, -there- it is) you can see..."
