Congress Under Armed Attack Live Stream

vil says...

"Mostly peaceful" protests usually happen in a park or a street or a university campus, you know, a public place. And then special forces arrive and beat people up and shoot some.

So this was strange for sure. The police seemed mighty reluctant to fight. The mob looked really crazy, attacked the police, but more verbally than physically, and if physically more just pushing them around than throwing things or hitting cops with them. Not even a good hockey fight. But still they stormed the building. Something aint right.

THE GRAPE VINE
A restraint technique used by special forces in WWII.

“After a while in this position, 10 to 15 minutes, you start getting cramps in your legs, which becomes unbearable. The natural reaction is to let go of your hands to relieve the pain, which forces you to fall backwards. This unnatural position places pressure on your rib-cage, and your breathing is restricted. Eventually, you pass out, and your lungs may collapse if you are not pulled out…

Caution. - To release your prisoner: Two persons are necessary, one on either side. Take hold of his legs and lift him up the tree; then unlock his legs.”

John Oliver - Refugee Crisis

Speaking only to Assad's motivation or provocation, Assad like his father needs none save preservation of his power.

I had a friend formerly of the Syrian special forces in the 80's who informed me that no SF units were allow within 250 miles of the capital at that time owing to the wiping out of the population of a small city with nerve gas. Assad is well and western educated but of the same cloth as his father.

It is easily referenced on the Net.

The western world had no right to go intervening in Syria's internal affairs in the first place. Guns and mercenaries were flooding in what was Assad supposed to do about it? What about those chemical weapons, notice we don't use that as a reason for our meddling anymore? It's because we now know that it was actually rebels on our side who used them and they were supplied by a Saudi prince. We constantly try to imply is was Assad but in fact we knew it was our side almost from day one. Whats the real reason for all this mess? Well it's oil of course. Qatar wanted to build oil pipelines in Syria and Assad wanted to do a deal with the Iranians and Russians instead, so we decided to give him and his people the international equivalent of a punishment beating. The cold war is over? Pull the other one.

As this is a nightclub im guessing it's part of the lighting. A bit of bright flashy lighting in below video.

Per YouTube description and fapnews.ru (in Russian): Last Sunday 35 masked people entered a nightclub in the city of Vichuga and attacked a table of five people. They were armed with AK-47s, pistols, and cudgels, but mostly just used their fists.
Police were called and managed to catch two of the perpetrators as they fled. However, they turned out to be OMON special forces with ID, and were let go. There is an ongoing investigation. Four people were treated for light bodily injuries. -from reddit

Yeah, I was expecting more along the lines of Special Forces from around the world conducting awesome rescues. Most of these aren't really "rescues" at all. Just a bit of canabalism.

Brave guy. One question: why is he screaming "I'm hit!" rather than using his comm/radio. No comm?

Not too many units where every member carries a radio. Mostly just special forces, and even then only some of the time. Small units like this are supposed to work as a unit, that means they stick together most of the time. And it's pretty obvious that this guy is not trained to a level where he's competent to be off on his own.

Seriously? Why even blur his face at that point?

I think that may have been the point. This was a freaking waypoint for the special forces.

How Leaks and Politics Threaten National Security

vaire2ube says...

if you watch the training our special forces receive, one has to wonder what recourse besides a suicide bomb is actually plausible to fight such forces.

We have super soldiers with super soldier capabilities and equipment, and so the threat has evolved to match a completely superior combat opponent.

i.e., IEDs and kamikaze attack.

evolution in action, indeed. you can't fight a war on terror.

9.999... reasons that 0.999... = 1 -- Vi Hart

I could destroy her whole concept by reducing the entire mathematical world to a structure scheme that can ONLY be ever displayed as a fractional environment, except for 0 or infinity, as they are special forces unto Math.

Vi actually covers this briefly when she talks about Hyperreals. Also, you wouldn't be destroying her whole concept by reducing the mathematical world to a fractional environment, as this already exists: What you describe is the set of Rational Numbers, where all numbers can be expressed as a fraction of two integers. .999... is still describable as the series 9/10 + 9/100 + 9/1000... so the concept is still sound, and still sums to 1 (or 1/1). As an aside, 0 is a rational number and can be expressed as a fraction as well. Infinity is not a number.

Finally, in before "Now you're just nitpicking" or "You don't have to be a dick." At this level, nitpicking and checking for consistency is what Mathematics is all about, so please expect it.

>> ^kceaton1:

So I would ask her this question concerning .9999~ not equaling one. If we take two pinballs and start to count all the electrons--but, midway through we strip ONE electron from one pin; essentially making this our .9999~ pinball. By the time we get done counting the electrons which pinball will have less and which will have more? Well the problem is that IN FACT the pinball that had one taken off could actually NOW have more than the other pinball. So do either actually equal one?

There is a fundamental flaw in this reasoning, which is that the number of electrons in both pinballs is finite. You will eventually stop counting, and when you divide (electrons in Pinball A) by (electrons in Pinball B) you end up with a rational number which is not 1, but also not equal to .999..., so the test is inconclusive. Assuming both pinballs had an infinite number of electrons in them also does not help, as then the answer to "what is ePA/ePB" is "I will never stop counting" (implying correctly that Infinity - 1 = Infinity).

This is why Mathematics are very specific, but in use--in the field--they will have LARGE caveats where the majority of the mental masturbation falls completely apart. Because, many of these discussions DO OCCUR at the EXTREMES of Math (if you know what I mean) and fundamentally the only places that use these parts are in extreme measurements; measurements where chance can become a powerful player.

I actually disagree with you here, though I think in practice we both have the same respect for Mathematics, so you can take or leave that disagreement as you please. In my mind Mathematics is "absolute" because it has been proven to be consistent, so the mental exercises are valid even in extreme cases. In those extreme cases sometimes things need to be added to what is already known to correctly describe what is going on or how something works, but the math that has come before is still sound. In fact, the soundness of Mathematics is the whole reason we can add onto it -- Because we know that it will not break. If it does, then we have done something wrong.

9.999... reasons that 0.999... = 1 -- Vi Hart

kceaton1 says...

This may scare some to hear, but realistically speaking you may actually be able to make the opposite case. The case that in fact there are really no true "full numbers" as she is stating, that in fact these numbers are merely representations of fractions and other such logical pantomime... Exactly as @Mikus_Aurelius says Math is a very large framework of logical conclusions and determinations about numbers and their nature. It's up to us no matter the argument to decide and resolve the issue--maybe it changes how we use Math, but that TRULY is doubtful.

I could destroy her whole concept by reducing the entire mathematical world to a structure scheme that can ONLY be ever displayed as a fractional environment, except for 0 or infinity, as they are special forces unto Math. Why not also bring our ever lingering doubts about structure in the small scale into the mix? You can only know one of two facts (at the electron scale for example) leaving you with a permanent variable in every problem. Then we could bring in Quantum Mechanics to make it even more fun...

Because, many of these discussions DO OCCUR at the EXTREMES of Math (if you know what I mean) and fundamentally the only places that use these parts are in extreme measurements; measurements where chance can become a powerful player.

Another way to look at this is to realize that the number missing--that doesn't equalize .999999~ to 1--is SO SMALL that it LITERALLY escapes anyway we have in our own Universe to describe it as energy, dimensions, vectors, scalars, or entropy. It is so small that it is essentially "virtual" to us, literally. Hopefully, this helps others understand why .9999~=1 (other than ALL OF THE PROOFS), it just has too.

i'd honestly really like to see a first person shooter where you play the nazis, or the iraq'is, or the japenese.
or something other than an American indestructo-terminitor-special-forces-Seal-Team-Six-Juggernaught mowing down legions of brown people. frankly i'm a bit tired of playing games that pretend that all the losers in american wars (and often wars of aggression) weren't actual people with actual lives and actual feelings and actual stories to tell. but instead something less.
Yes I know it's a GAME and it's all fantasy rather than a realistic simulation
still, millions of young minds play this drivel and for once, just once, it could be somewhat realistically even-handed ... or even enlightening for something with such mass appeal to offer a different fucking perspective on the supposed world.
