"Alto" does mean stop, halt, or standstill, but in noun form as in "this is the right stop" or "traffic is at a standstill", not verb form like "stop the boat".
Still, it was understandable pigeon Spanish, so I agree, who cares?

While "Alto" does mean "High", it also means "Halt", and his Spanish is acceptable for "Stop (halt) your boat". "Pare su barco" or "De en alto su barco" (or embarcacion, given it's not technically a boat...) would have been better, but who cares...

There's also a good chance he was trying to say "stop your boat...Stop your boat now"....Alto is what's on Mexican stop signs....but as a noun.

I'm not sure that all of Spain considers it ok to be as "masculine" as some proportion of Spanish men (but not all) think they should be.

I mean--what could be more masculine than the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain? Hemingway, the famously macho writer, literally wrote about it.

But--when a WhatsApp group calling themselves the "Wolfpack" harassed and raped an 18 year old girl there in 2016--and received a "sexual assault" but not a rape conviction for their actions---the lighter sentence was not well received. The guys think they they should appeal to go free; the other half of the country is outraged.

Okay, I'd say this is a bit of a Spanish sound to it, not just acoustic guitar. Would this be because the type of guitar, the tuning, the way he plays, a combo of them, or highly possible, I'm just crazy.

After studying Spanish for years and helping out latinos who need help with English I"m always glad I grew up speaking it. Never mind the vowels, figuring out the accented syllable in a word can be an ordeal. For example "democrat" and "advocate" both are accented on the first syllable but "democracy" and "advocacy" have different stressed syllable locations.

Spelling and pronunciation are far less complex in Spanish and it's easy to determine the accented syllable in a word. But they make up for it with the subjunctive tense. And the past preterite vs. past imperfect, I still struggle with those.

Sounds like he speaks 3 different languages. English, German and... Greek? Spanish? Valerian?
