Israeli Cyberattack Explodes Pagers Across Lebanon

bcglorf says...

Alot of assumptions there though...

First that it even was Israel. Which seems a reasonable assumption though.

My big difference with you though is around being untargeted. From all appearances the affected devices appear to have been almost entirely in the hands of Hezbollah members. That makes the better assumption that Israel(or whomever is responsible) actually was able to distribute the devices directly to Hezbollah itself for internal distribution.

Say what you will about the attack, but 'untargeted' seems a poor descriptor. Heck, even carefully planned out sniper operations on the same number of enemy operatives would likely have a higher collateral casualty count. At least acknowledge this attack, for everything else that it is, was highly selective of Hezbollah members and those within an extremely close proximity of them.

A second wave of random untargeted bombings has killed one and injured hundreds as walkie talkies were targeted and exploded, many in public crowded areas with children present.
This is terrorism plain and simple. The US cannot continue unconditional support any nation that mass mails bombs to the citizens of another country.

Secret Service July 14th

newtboy says...

SHOCKER!
I’m correct.
Local police were tasked with 1) clearing and securing that building 2) searching the crowd 3) controlling the crowd and keeping them off structures 4) covering that rooftop with local police snipers 5) responding to being notified there’s a shooter on the roof.
Local police failed at every single step.
They swept the publicly accessible building EARLY THAT MORNING not near the event time, they allowed a crowd within view of the candidate but outside security, they had no one watching those elevated positions or keeping people off them, the local sniper assigned to watch that set of buildings seems to be missing or never assigned, they 100% dropped the ball when they were told a man with a gun was seen in the area acting suspicious long before he was on the roof, and again once when he was on the roof for near a full minute while the crowd pointed and screamed.

Ultimately the Secret Services responsibility, but not their failure. They followed long standing procedure to the T from every report. Still no word on whether there were fewer police than requested…or why….but non payment of dozens of past security bills, sticking it to the venues would be a likely reason if there were.

Another shocker, initial reports are correct, he is a conservative Republican gun advocate (but awful shot) lone wolf white male American. Right wing media reports claiming that he’s really a Democrat who registered Republican to vote against Trump in the primary have been proven to be outright bold faced lies. He was unpopular at his mostly liberal high school because he was a staunch often insulting conservative and did not hide it at all.

And down vote? Why because the shooter missed?

Secret Service July 14th

newtboy says...

I’m just asking questions, I made no statement there.
Questions like WHY can’t we see Obama’s long form birth certificate, and WHY won’t Trump stop raping girls?

The Secret Service uses multi tiered defense. The inner tier is close support, Secret Service agents who rush in and provide physical cover. Mid tier is mid range/crowd control, usually covered mostly by local police who are temporarily added to the security detail and have liaisons to communicate to the Secret Service. Outer tier (snipers) are looking outward for long range threats.
He was in the mid tier range, and reports say the crowd notified police (not Secret Service agents) well beforehand, but the Secret Service obviously didn’t get the info. Is it because there weren’t enough police? I don’t know but maybe. If so, would that be because he’s well known for not paying for security after agreeing he would and they didn’t want to do extreme crowd control for free? I don’t know but it’s likely.

Down vote for the instant blaming the Secret Service without knowing any details, who failed in what duty, or much of anything….and because this cracked out living in mommy’s basement “lone wolf” (really bad wardrobe choice for this topic) always deserves a downvote every single time.

As tempting as it would be to do so, I don’t support political violence, unlike MAGA that needs a gun in every political ad, usually pointed at their opponents name or likeness, or puts their picture out with crosshairs (right before they got shot), or calls for second amendment solutions to political disputes, or actually fomented a violent coup on Jan 6 and tried to steal the election by force, or celebrated and had the best time dismissing it as nothing when Pelosi was attacked. Patriots believe in democracy even when it fails us.

It was his jilted boyfriend…a lover’s spat.

Before you start parroting the insane Biden blaming, sorry, won’t fly…reports are he’s Thomas Mathew Cooks, 20, registered Republican (so Trump Republican or farther right), wearing a Demolition Ranch (a far right gun rights channel) “Demolitia” shirt. (Will Don Jr be wearing that for his Halloween costume this year like his David DePape Halloween costume after Paul Pelosi was attacked? Why not?)

It wasn’t a democrat.
It wasn’t an undocumented immigrant.
It wasn’t an LGBTQ+ person.
It wasn’t an African American.
It wasn’t any of the people he says are “poisoning the blood of America”.
It was a young white male registered Republican gun advocate.

...and you should be glad he’s another loser idiot MAGGOT. A thinking assassin (so not a MAGGOT) would not use an assault weapon for a long range sniper shot, and would not have missed. That in itself indicates this was a setup, a false flag fraud…he meant to miss or just wing him…what actual gun user would think they could make a perfect 300+ yard shot with a short rifle…or would aim for the head and not center mass? Please. What a loser.

Deported F**king Vets - Klepper

StukaFox says...

My father was a Marine sniper in Vietnam and the only man I ever knew who loved being in the Marines so much, he volunteered to go back there on three tours. When he was medically discharged -- after being shot at least twice -- he turned into a rage-fueled alcoholic, an ardent racist and a hard-hard conservative who loved Rush Limbaugh. He hated everything liberal with an outright passion. I'm sure you can understand why I never talked politics with him.

The one thing, however, we both absolutely agreed on is that you DON'T fuck with Vets, especially those who served in combat. My father would have been furious if he'd seen this. As much as he was a racist, if you were in combat, he saw you as a brother no matter what color your skin. He would have moved heaven and earth to help these guys. I'm both glad and sorry he didn't live to see this video.

(When he died several years ago, he left me two things: his medals and his Rush Limbaugh tie. I miss you so much. Dad.)

More of a police action at this point I thought, but yeah, we didn't "win" yet, no mission accomplished, and now bounties on their heads. That said, we are in control of most areas aren't we? So the guerrilla fighters aren't winning either, they're losing territory but holding out.

None of my guns are sniper capable, my best bet at accomplishing anything would be my shotgun, and I doubt I could pump it fast enough to shoot twice, old and broken as I am, so I would be out quick too. Not what I would call a successful resistance.

I think if the military is part of a government takeover/crackdown, we don't have the slightest chance. The best we could do is identify ourselves as dissidents in need of quick execution.

But that's just like, my opinion, man. :-)

Yet we are still at war in Afghanistan and policing other middle eastern countries. Sometimes all it takes is a few people with the will to not submit.

I know I would not live long in such a fight, I'm too old and I am disabled. But as long as we have the right to own semi automatic rifles with high capacity clips, we still can pay lip service to an armed public that can dismantle a tyrannical government. Take that away and you basically remove even the slightest chance that we as a people can challenge the government.

the thing about the guns is insidious.
the right might be a bit over-confident.

most liberals are richer than conservatives.
better educated. healthier. and just more of them.

money could well turn into more guns, higher quality, and amply supplied. they live in cities. better distribution. and education pays off in all means of defense.

living in cities, they would have an advantage in urban warfare.

even the thought of a lithe, pilates loving gal w/yoga training and pants armed w/a sniper rifle should draw concern. being in excellent shape, knowing the best hiding points, and being able to control her heart rate and breathing.

VLDL: FPS Revive Logic - Downed

StukaFox says...

They need a version of this for the Somme: you stand in a trench, affix your bayonet, go over the top at the sound of the whistle, then walk casually towards the German trenches for about 3 seconds until you're drilled in the forehead by the sniper. Respawn as a name on the Menin Gate (UK version only).

What "defund the police" really means

newtboy says...

I'll go ahead and say the unpopular truth....we need to not just defund, but disband the police. Fire them all, then allow them to reapply for their jobs, but those with excessive complaints, or any crimes on their record don't get hired back or at a minimum should have to go back to school with no pay, then pass a psychological screening far more stringent than the one they passed originally.
No amount of funding change (which is needed), demilitarization (which only means not making them more militarized, no one's taking their swat tanks or snipers), no amount of public outrage, or chiefs quitting will make a difference if the same criminal cops are still on the force, they need a massive purge and complete culture change or things will not get better.

One other change that I believe will definitely help, remove immunity so criminal cops not only go to prison, but also are first in line to pay restitution for their own crimes out of their own pockets, then once they're bankrupt the union's pockets, and if they both run out of money the city/state comes last in line for obligation to pay. When cops lose everything when they're convicted for abusing their authority, the bad apples will straighten up fast or quit.

Can anyone who knows close protection comment on Budd's leaving his VIP to go after the one sniper he's seen, on the basis of a quick glimpse with his mobile phone?

I would have thought that his overriding priority would be to fully extract his VIP from the danger zone.
