John Oliver: Primaries and Caucuses

Lawdeedaw says...

I feel she is bad as Trump over her record. Racist? Check. Even Obama spit on her apology when she went to ask for forgiveness for her blatant racism, then exploded on him when he wasn't about to be a fool.

Chronic liar? Check. I know some embellishing is to be expected but there is a certain point when it becomes too much. Florida Governor Rick Scott is a great example of batshit crazy lying. Sarah Palin is too. Yet they never claimed to be under sniper fire, downplayed a massive federal investigation (because she tried to be shady because she is fucking stupid) and lied about their record every chance they got.

Homophobic? Of course we can't ask and won't tell...I mean if those faggots try to marry she won't support it unless it wins her an election...stupid faggots... Oh wait, definitely against LBGT. Check.

Bribed? Check...

Inciting? Check. If it serves a purpose sure.

I could go on and on. But to do so is to lessen my own validity. And if you aren't sure about those examples, don't ask me to cite them please. They are well-known and anyone not paying attention to their candidate of choice doesn't deserve a to be handed the information they should know...

Fair enough. You think Hillary is as bad as Trump.

That is what politics is all about. Different points of view. And urging others to join your point of view.

I'll continue imploring all reasonable people to come out and stop the "quicker cancer." Because just on the simple face of it, who would choose a quicker death and remove all hope for the future?

I have to hang onto the hope.

Before Occupy Wall Street, There Was Occupy Kent State

by accident, @marinara?

How do you accidentally open fire on protestors?

This is an excellent article on the events:
New Kent State Video Evidence Points Towards FBI Provocateuring

The word “Guard!” can be heard around 11 seconds. “All right, prepare to fire” begins at around 20.5 seconds. “Get down!” is spoken at 23 seconds. The final “Guard!” is at about 25 seconds, and the gunshots begin at 27.5 seconds.

The order to fire directly contradicts claims from guard commanders who testified that there was no order to fire and that troops unloaded their weapons only after receiving incoming sniper fire.

The tape was given to Yale in 1979 for its Kent State archives by an attorney who represented students in a lawsuit filed against the state over the shooting. It was originally recorded by a student named Terry Strubbe who put a microphone at the window of his dorm, which overlooked the rally.

Subsequent analysis of the tape also uncovered an altercation and four pistol shots a little over one minute prior to the Guard gunfire. It is believed that the shots came from Terry Norman, who was at the time believed to have been an FBI informant.

Despite attempts by Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich to pave the way for a new federal investigation, the evidence has remained largely ignored.

Mother of soldier accuses Gaza doctor of hiding weapons

Irishman says...

The man in this clip is Doctor Ezeldeen Abu Al-aish who trained in an Israeli hospital and believes in Arab-Israeli co-existence. He is actually an outspoken critic of Hamas.

He was calling into News Channel 10 and reporting on daily events on the ground live on the air.

He was a Palestinian who chose to work for Israel, and the IDF killed his daughters. The IDF claimed there was sniper fire coming from his house, later they claimed it was coming "from the area", later again they said the matter was "under investigation".

sniper fire... yeah, they're not even trying to come up with plausible reasons anymore.

morbid though, but it reminds me of using weapons cheats in a first-person shooter; 'was that pistol shot from that window? better send a few rockets that way, along with half a dozen grenades.'

Hamas firing mortars froma school (drone video)

volumptuous says...

It's pretty simple.

You don't bomb a target that you can hit with machine-gun fire. I've watched too many videos of accurate sniper fire from helicopters, a lot of times with scrambling targets.

These targets were mostly fixed, and could've been taken out with a gun, instead of blowing the whole place up with missiles.

As that Israeli soldier said, it's apparently all about "purification".

TYT: What Wars Has John McCain Won

Bidouleroux says...

>> ^Crosswords:

McCain said he knew how to win wars, when in fact he only helped to win wars by supporting them in the Senate. Ergo he's full of himself. Like Hilary saying she landed under sniper fire when there was only a slight possibility that there could have been sniper fire. These kinds of half-truths are the best material for brainwashing, unless they're exposed early and from all sides. But of course the republican-controlled "liberal" media won't touch McCain, the so-called "war hero", whose only achievement is having been tortured. Nothing wrong in calling him an "hero" or whatever but don't start bullshitting us about how he can "win wars" like he was George Washington reincarnated. How's he gonna win wars anyway? By enduring bad islamic pop music pumped through his ears 24/7? By dyeing of old age only after Bin Laden did? Let's cut the crap. McCain is an average politician with average plans. Not as bad as Dubya by a long shot, but nothing extraordinary either. He's got some experience, but what good is experience when what you need is for your country to go in an altogether new and radical direction after 8 years of political and military disasters?

@Crosswords: Sorry for the not entirely relevant (to your comment) rant.

Hillary Claims Popular Vote Lead Erroneously

Obama has been to HOW MANY states during his capaign?!?

kronosposeidon says...

Now this is one example where I'm going to forgive a candidate for being sleep-deprived. By now everyone knows he's a smart dude, so this gaffe is easily explained by fatigued gray matter. At this point in his exhausting campaign schedule the dude is probably shitting nothing but coffee grounds. However, when one is sleep-deprived, there's a HUGE difference between saying there's 57 states and saying that you took sniper fire in Bosnia in 1996.

My point? Fuck Hillary. Fuck McCain. Go Obama.

Kirk should have been a librarian.

We should definitely make Edwards a spy. He could go on missions to somewhere really dangerous, like Bosnia.

Recent (over-?)abundance of music videos on the Sift (Music Talk Post)

EDD says...

Thanks for the response, uhohzombies, like I said, you're my new VS role-model!

While I've definitely learned to not underestimate my own ego, the reason why I decided to create this Talk post wasn't exactly because I'd be experiencing difficulties moving 'up the ladder'. It's seeing some rather good videos in PQueues or even discarded (if I'm not mistaken-I'll admit I sometimes tend to exaggerate things such as plane landings and sniper fire). No, my progress on VS, although slow-mostly due to my own laziness, has been even and almost effortless, at least losing the P was; while I haven't scored higher than 30 votes (yet), both of my videos from last year went out the queue on the day of submitting, and it's actually from seeing comments by other members such as-"I submitted this exact video some time ago and had to discard it after a while, but now I see it in the top15, what a bummer " that I decided to write this.

Certainly, a lot of it comes down to finding a nifty title/tags/description, but there's also been talk on how the actual time of day in the different (OK, two-US and European) time zones affect the results-both that of when you submit a video and when it's published. My theory is that the majority of those unique hits you were referring to come from people that visit the Sift just for a quick glance - and if they don't notice anything interesting (I'll wager interesting=funny for the general public) in a minute or two, they leave. So that's a potential downside of having a lot of music videos on the Sifted list (first page) if we're looking at it from a business-like perspective...

Which I know we aren't. Doh!

But I really like how you made your points in the third fifth paragraph, I agree with those whole-heartedly. For example, I would also suggest that the default sorting method for the Unsifted (sounds like a potential horror title, The Unsifted doesn't it? ) be switched to by newest in queue.

Regarding music videos as such - I admit I would actually prefer if there were no music videos (as seen straight from MTV or whatever) on the Sift. Leave musical parodies, leave videos with random content and full songs in soundtrack, leave amateur group talents and live covers, and eveything else musical, I'm only against the 1:1 music videos from 1sttube.

Yes, even though I've upvoted a number of them quite recently and even though I do have my very own (rather broad) musical preferences, AND even though they actually coincide with what most users are submitting (namely, jazz, rock, indie - sorry for the blasphemous generalizations, everyone), I would still opt for VS as the source of humor rather than a copy of YT music video library, sorry for the harsh words. Why not both? I really think that the latter takes away from the former, I really do. But anyone's welcome to disagree-not that I think any capital reforms should be made-I was just asking whether the more shiny members also think the numbers might be a tad too high and if they ought to slow down with the music!
Just a little bit.
