High School Senior Takes Book Banners To School

removal? 'cause you find her 'wacko'? you are here?

if you take dares - go on some of these international sites and try to explain to Europeans why pledging alliance to a flag is okay.

bet they have more compelling reasons not to.

would agree w/you IF you said people shouldn't post every f'n thing on the 'web. hard to understand putting personal/private thoughts w/one's face attached to it (no that's not me, it's an avatar - not even my cat). like they're celebrities or have no friends to share goofy thoughts with (don't start).

RATHER tell the woman advice similar to this: shut off the phones. don't post private shat. do who we do. grouse w/folks you don't personally know, or where they live, or could fire y'all.

Today terrorist Trumpists “took credit” for the terrorist acts over the weekend across the nation, cheering them and hoping they did maximum damage to America. Also their communications about their plans to attack power grids were discovered.

In N Carolina they have all but said they were the ones who shot up the power grid, “we know why the power is out” “god works in mysterious ways. (Wink)” putting thousands in the cold and dark for days during a winter storm….and their digital communications planning it support that. Apparently this was done to disrupt a local drag show scheduled for 7pm Saturday, right after the sub stations were shot up causing millions in damage and freezing over 36000 people in their homes without heat or power.
In Florida militant Trumpist terrorists attacked drag shows with violence.
In Ohio they attacked drag shows and gay clubs, shutting off power, blocking all access in or out, taunting them with another mass shooting while dancing to YMCA (because you’re too stupid to know it’s a gay anthem about loving public gay sex….or more likely because y’all love public gay sex while you scream how hate it….that’s much more Republican.)

More death, destruction, and debauchery by the now publicly anti constitution anti democracy anti America terroristic Republican Party.

It’s ok Bob, I know you likely blocked me after you lost the election despite your still posting questions to me. You aren’t adult enough to stand behind your statements or hold a conversation, especially while every prediction you made in the last year fails to materialize and you lose your shirt while the right loses its clout, because you are nothing but an anti American troll…and likely really 14. I don’t expect you to have the testicular fortitude to respond….but you deserve a daily reminder of the anti American terrorist your messiah Trump has turned you into.

Lawrence: ‘Fox News Has Blood On Its Hands’

Strangely, they used hatred against the BLM then and now the BLM movement as a reason to scare white people.

Murdoch, an immigrant, anti-gun, has put the US back into Hearst hell. All those laws put into effect to stop this kind of inculcating methodology have been swept aside. w/o the Fairness Doctrine, there is no one to correct, or simply mock, a shill like *ucker. His influence would be shut off instantly if re-enacted.

Murdoch's companies have spent plenty of time in courtrooms. From the hacking corp in GB, sexually harassment suits - both men and women, and now slander against companies that make vote count machines. Criminality is their shadow.

Perceptive lawyer figures abuser and victim in same location

Digitalfiend says...

I think the plaintiff's lawyer becomes suspicious at 7:22 when the defense lawyer is making his objection. You see the plaintiff look over her right shoulder and, the first time I watched it, I thought she was struggling to hear what the defense lawyer was saying. But watching it a second time, you can see her jaw moving, like she is mouthing something to someone and the defendant's video shuts off for a bit. The prosecutor likely had more context and had spoken to the plaintiff before as well, so probably had a gut feeling as to what was transpiring. Still a crazy good call though!

screwed the pooch. wrong house; innocent social worker; invalid warrant; shut-off body camera at crucial point; obvious cover-up and no one bother to cover her nudity even when it was more than evident that she lived alone and wasn't the perp (or his gal).

should be a financial spanking for the city, and heads rolling - but none of that negates this woman's experience. what is 'fall off a log' easy for some is hard for ̶b̶o̶b̶ others to grasp. she didn't deserve this. she is a SOCIAL WORKER which damn near a religious calling. as good as a nun in my head.

what money she may receive is very, very unlikely to be worth the time, pain, suffering, and trama. plus, she's likely now, by default, a public figure. open to strangers comforting (welcome or otherwise) and scorn by the total mutts that ̶s̶u̶p̶p̶o̶r̶t̶ ̶d̶e̶r̶a̶n̶g̶e̶d̶ ̶D̶o̶n̶n̶i̶e̶ have difficultly w/empathy or daily deliberations.

but personally don't understand most of this. professionals that don't know their own business; sieges into homes; or thinking a victim has just won the lottery. covering up only adds to the pile.

Plane Ran Out of Fuel at 41,000 Feet. Here's What Happened.

CrushBug says...

OK, hold the fucking phone here. This video is just a disaster. It is flippant and glossing over the facts of what actually happened. This story is a favorite of mine, so I have done a lot a reading on it.

This happened in 1983 (36 years ago).

>> Do planes seriously not have a fuel gauge?

There is specifically a digital fuel gauge processor on that plane, and it was malfunctioning. There was an inductor coil that wasn't properly soldered onto the circuit board. At that time, planes were allowed to fly without a functioning digital fuel gauge as long as there was a manual check of the fuel in tanks and the computer was told the starting fuel.

The problem is that fuel trucks pump by volume and planes measure fuel by weight. The fueling truck converted the volume to kilograms and then converted to pounds. He should not have used both. In 1983 ground crews were used to converting volume to pounds. The 767 was the first plane in Air Canada's fleet to have metric fuel gauges.

The line in the video "the flight crew approved of the fuel without noticing the error" glosses over how it is actually done. The pilot was passed a form that contained the numbers and calculations from the ground crew that stated that 22,300 kg of fuel was loaded on the plane. The math was wrong, but unless the pilots re-did the numbers by hand, there wouldn't be anything to jump out at them. He accepted the form and punched those numbers in to the computer.

The 767 was one of the first planes to eliminate the Flight Engineer position and replace it with a computer. There was no clear owner as to who does the fuel calc in this situation. In this case, it fell to the ground crew.

>> I would hope there is a nit more of a warning system than the engines shutting off.

If there was a functional digital fuel gauge, it would have showed them missing half their fuel from the start, and the error would have been caught. Because there wasn't, the computer was calculating and displaying the amount of fuel based on an incorrect start value.

That is another problem with this video. It states that "they didn't even think about it until ... and an alarm went off signalling that their left engine had quit working."

Fuck you, narrator asshole.

In this case, low fuel pump pressure warnings were firing off before the engines shut down. They were investigating why they would be getting these low pressure warnings when their calculated fuel values (based on the original error) showed that they had enough fuel.

>> I can't believe the pilot's were given an award for causing an avoidable accident.

The pilots did not cause it. They followed all the proper procedures applicable at that time, 1983. It was only due to their skill and quick thinking that the pilots landed the plane without any serious injuries to passengers.

They ran simulations in Vancouver of this exact fuel and flight situation and all the crews that ran this simulation crashed their planes.

"Bad math can kill you." Flippant, correct, but still not quite applicable to this situation. Air Canada did not provide any conversion training for dealing with kilograms and the 767. Not the ground crew, nor the pilots, were trained how to handle it. They were expected to "figure it out". That, and the elimination of the Flight Engineer position, set these situations up for disaster.

I am amazed they could even take off, frankly.

The Truth About Jerusalem

newtboy says...

I doubt that. ;-)

Except for territory they hold, I agree, Palestinian suffering is their only influence, and that's not much.

I agree, because we back them, Israel does as it pleases. I do think the 'arab world' has legitimate complaints beyond Palestinian suffering, like constantly expanding borders and expulsion from historical holy sites.

I see no chance for a single state (where non Jews are sub-citizens with no vote or power) or an Israeli designed two state (where only barren desert is Palestinian with all water and access controlled by Israel, shut off at any hint of complaint).

The Palestinians do want a two state solution, just not one where any land worth having is Israel and the leftovers are Palestine.

Israel gains nothing from negotiating when they can get what they want, like recognition of another land grab (Jerusalem) without negotiating. That's why this move is horrendous, it gives them incentives to not negotiate and just act unilaterally.

I don't think propaganda is that important to them that they actually prefer their allies suffering to reasonable resolutions, but I don't think that any reasonable resolutions are being offered or even discussed. Given that, what's the option? Outright war? With us backing Israel, that's a no go.

I think, if given a solution that didn't give everything to Israel, the Palestinians would jump at it (maybe not Hamas, but the people). Being offered second class citizenship after having all their land and possessions taken is not workable, and it's what they seem to get.

If N Korea sells Iran a nuke, I hope we can we go back to negotiations instead of genocidal one sided dictations.

bcglorf said:

I think I see things more jadedly than you do.

Here's what I see of the situation. On a nation state level, nobody cares about the Palestinians. The Palestinians only influence on the chess board is their suffering. All of their 'allies' like Syria, Egypt and Iran don't care about the Palestinians for anything more than making sure that they suffer, the greater and the more public that suffering the better propaganda it makes. Israel and it's allies only care about the Palestinians in so far as that same suffering makes them look bad and sways public opinion as well. The threat from the Palestinians is a police and humanitarian matter, not a military one.

So everybody with boots on the ground doesn't care about the Palestinians. The Israeli side will take what they want as long as public opinion isn't too onerous on it. The Arab nations will actively arm, encite and push the Palestinians from peace to violence at ever turn because it ensures they serve their 'purpose' of public suffering better.

I count exactly zero hope for a two state solution reached between Palestinian and Israeli's as equals. A future of the region where the Palestinian people are afforded a better future either in a province of Israel, or their own state created under terms dictated to it by Israel I see as at least an existent possibility. I honestly believe seeking something more is simply not a possibility because NOBODY wants it. The Israeli's don't, the Palestinians allies don't, even the Palestinians themselves don't.

You seem to think maybe the parties can be made to change their minds on that, but it runs contrary to their self interests.

Israel gains nothing by backing down and negotiating as equals for a two state solution.

Palestine's 'allies' actually lose out greatly in any resolution to the status quo because it currently ties down Israel and makes for great propaganda. They'd lose that and gain nothing in return but less suffering for the Palestinians whom they don't care about.

Palestinians themselves might be persuaded to change their minds, but the only ones swaying their public opinion are their 'allies' with a vested interested in making sure they continue to fight forever for all of Palestine and not settle for two states. Additionally, for all intents and purposes their opinions don't matter anyways because they lack the power to make a meaningful difference.

None of the above is my opinion on how I would like things to be, nor how I think they should be, but rather how I see it actually looking. Nation state actions can usually be stripped down to narrow self interest and naught else. The exceptions are failures of the state representation, like say a dictator choosing their personal interest over a national one, or a buffoon blundering off into idiotic random actions...

Drachen_Jager says...

I never said we should kill them.

It's not an analogy, that's a straight 1 to 1 comparison I made.

To your points.

1) I don't think you have any idea what sovereign means. ISIS could claim sovereignty (debatable, I'd say no, but it's debatable) the militiamen absolutely cannot.

2) What's your point?

3) Ha! Then what are the guns for?

4) That's not really a point.

I'd deal with it by arresting them. Blockade the preserve, when they leave, arrest them. Don't allow any food in. Shut off their electricity and water. Tell them they're welcome to come out, unarmed, whenever they're ready.

enoch said:

@Drachen_Jager

thats a pretty piss poor analogy.
while i can agree (and did in my original comment) that the militia is,by definition, engaging in terrorism.

i cannot agree to killing these men.

and to compare them to ISIS is a bit of a stretch.

1.they are american citizens.they are sovereign.ISIS are not.
2.while there has been an occupation of land, there has been no evidence of violence nor brutality.ISIS is notoriously brutal and violent.
3.while violence may be implied.they have consistently called this a protest against government over-reach and do not seek a violent resolution.ISIS not only threatens violence but engages on a daily basis.
4.when we consider incidents such as waco or ruby ridge, where there WAS government over-reach with tragic results.the federal governments tactics of standing down makes sense, and is fairly non-controversial and prudent.these nimrods are about to be run out of town by the very community they are proposing to be standing up for.

so how would YOU propose to deal with the situation in oregon?
