Watch the Webb Telescope launch animation

Hipnotic says...

You're absolutely right, my comment should have targeted the live launch, sorry.
Still, that covers about 20 (shaky cam) seconds of the launch before they switch to an animation (!) of the launch.
Which brings me back to my original gripe: The Ariane 5 is an old vehicle which doesn't have onboard cameras. Private rocket launch companies have eclipsed it. And I think The European Space Agency is not keeping up.
As to cameras on the JWST itself, it looks like they didn't attach any for a reason: https://www.space.com/james-webb-space-telescope-no-cameras-reason
Didn't know that...

You get that's just a "preview" right? It's in the desc. It was done & shown before the launch, and I assume you knew the launch date (granted, it was postsponed several times, so admittedly not easy to keep track unless you have a passing interest about it). The actual live broadcast is at: https://youtu.be/7nT7JGZMbtM

Beat me by a rather long way... so *promote. I personally loved the lack of shaky cam and quick cuts and just sticking to nice solid shots that allowed the action to flow more naturally than force it on you via the cuts and shaky cam.

I don't like country music, but she's an amazing singer. The interview was quite awkward. I'm not sure why they couldn't say it - Phil Donahue had an openly homosexual guest on this show more than a decade before this. I guess Arsenio Hall just wasn't as edgy

wtf is up with the background warping when the camera is on her?
(maybe some anti-shaky-cam filter applied to the old VHS recording)

I found Grand Budapest Hotel to be thoroughly brilliant and enjoyable from start to finish, but maybe because I haven't seen Wes Anderson's previous films. Try not to compare it to his other films. which can be hard because of his style, but I think you'll find it a lot more enjoyable and much better than "not bad".

As for Cappin Murica Too, I did like it, but compared to and still coming off the high of The Avengers (as I had watched it again not long before), where the characters, dialogue and action was just so great, especially the action. So well choreographed, so well paced, so well shot (no shaky cam BS) and such interesting stunts and if memory serves me, no stupid slow-mo. After that, CA2 didn't quite compare.

Which is why I want to see it again, where Avengers wasn't so fresh in my mind, and where I hadn't been put in a different state of mind after watching GBH

It was a fun, well made action flick with decent characters. It wasn't Citizen Kane but it was an excellent example of what it wanted to be.

Grand Budapest Hotel though, was very overrated IMHO. Not that it was bad, but it wasn't nearly as good as The Life Aquatic.

I'm a fan of both Lynch and Reznor, but I gotta say this video was horrible. I can see why they have an epilepsy warning. Is the shaky cam supposed to be "haunting"?

now I know why bears are in the circus - amazing talent!

(also really impressive anti-shaky-cam filter, if that's what the black borders are from the original video... someone should apply that to the Bourne Ultimatum)

I liked the content of the interview, so I'll upvote.

...However, if I could downvote the cameraman (who's last gig was apparently shaky-cam dude for MTV's The Real World), I would. Why on earth does a serious interview need a non-fixed camera that wanders around, tilts, and focuses on people's ears?

I think the cinematography is a bit too heavy handed.

Absolutely Agreed!!

I watched the first episode last night and, overall, I liked it.

But the overuse (in my book, any use is overuse) of the really, really stupid "shaky-cam" leaves me nauseated. And the spinning pan shot used to show off the new set is almost as bad.
