The Ark website launch video is AWESOME!! Imagine these same talentless rich kids singing without the post and without the autotune!! It's truly epic.




Also the announcer... he says stuff like "this girl has more talent than I have in my little toe". The band looks like high school garage band.

Most of my teachers through school were textbook folk, who never once made me question or challenge anything. I had one teacher in high school who inspired me, but turns out I annoyed the hell out of him, and he doesn't like to talk to me anymore (I see him around my small hometown when I go back for visits). I don't know what that means.

I was usually resented by my teachers because A) I was on several sports teams (unlike anyone else in my classes) B) My father was a politician who was vocal about his views (anyone from a small town knows what small town politics are like) and C) I had friends among the jocks, the nerds, and the 'bad crowd', which drove teachers and school administrators crazy. Most teachers tend not to like students they can't pigeonhole.

My parents always took a deep interest in my education (IMHO the MOST important factor in childhood education), and my parents supplemented my education with what they thought was lacking (typically with current events, camping/hunting skills, and a morality that one doesn't find in the public system). My mom almost sent me to a renowned all-boys school, but I protested vehemently (no offense to anyone here, but I didn't like those uniformed snobby pricks).

University can be fun, but in my field I find that folks are either completely unquestioningly dependent and loyal to a political party ideology (party volunteers and/or staffers), great at studying dates and names but without an eye for political strategy (bureaucrats), unaffiliated whackos (hard-core feminists, anarchists, etc.), or dumbass fratboy rich-kids who only got in because daddy was alumni and made a generous contribution. Of course, not everyone fits into these categories, but far too many do.

We need more teachers like Enoch. The robots might as well go work in a factory somewhere.

Impressive technology both then and perhaps even now, that some players still work and its freaking vynil. I remember all the rich kids in the early 80s had one of these! Of course when the NES made its debut nobody cared about CED players anymore.

I have the 1984 cassette release of Star Wars on my hands and they still look reasonably good considering their age, the most impressive bit is that VHS Hi-Fi is nearly CD quality on all the old commercial tapes I have despite how old they are. It's hard to tell the difference between DVD stereo sound and VHS Hi-Fi on some of them.

Texting on your phone while driving is a habit learned in first world societies, taught by blond headed rich kids on hallucinogens. Not that I didn't make the connection between the bus driver being Latino -- I'm pretty certain they don't have phones in third worlds, let alone ethics.

This guy made another movie about rich kids and how they deal with that status. His heart is in the right place and he has amazing access. I like his movies... I just hope he keeps improving on his techniques and preparation. Some of his questions to his interview subjects were just amateurish. He was totally unprepared for Milton Friedman. I'm not sure what he knew what he was getting into when he knocked Friedman's door-- the most prominent leader of the Chicago School of Economics (the economic philosophy) and a Nobel laureate... he is a famously adept debater. He suffers no fools apparently.

If the US cut off the purse string and even gave aid to Gaza at the same time.. I guarantee it will change the dynamic. Israel has used this Iraq mess as an excuse to do whatever they want because US is too much a hypocrite to complain (same for Russia). Lebanon stuff, everyone looked the other way. Formal military occupation of Gaza.. they get a pass.

Time to cut off all economic and military aid.
