I Think Gordon Ramsey Is Saying The Scallops Won't Stick

Yes, and proper lubrication. I've a theory that egg temperature matters too. Cold eggs stick more. >> ^rottenseed:

Have no non-stick pans in the house. I don't miss it except when I cook eggs. It's tough to keep fried eggs from sticking in a stick-skillet - though it can be done.

I always think about a short order cook with one of those teppanyaki style gas-heated metal plates to cook on and how they never have any problems flippin' eggs. I think the key element (along with proper oiling of the device) is heat.

does the Leidenfrost effect come into play here???

Controversy Over Girls Doing Beyonce Dance (Video)

Djevel says...

Having both girls, 10 and 4 respectively, I can't say I'd be comfortable with them performing something like this at all, although my oldest would undoubtedly love to. I didn't think the song was inappropriate, however. It really boiled down to the clothing was rather skimpy and the gyrating a bit too provocatively...and with the combination of both...yeah, it was a bit weird.

Yes, they did an outstanding job and the effort needed to perform that probably took many hours to pull off. Kudos there, but still...it was questionably inappropriate for a child (which is what 7 is...again, we're not talking pre-teen).

Now, having said all that...I'm also the type of guy thats not too keen on child beauty pageants (i.e Jon Benet Ramsey) and think that the parents who funnel their children through these things need some serious self reflection time for what they are doing to their kids. For the parents that ok'd this particular routine, I'm sure they signed over a bit of that self reflection in the hopes of winning said competition.

I upvoted Bleach's comment because although I don't think "dancing" is inherently meant to draw in the opposite sex, it certainly can be used to conjure up said imagery and I do think there was some of that happening during this routine. Again, such actions are inappropriate for a seven year old, IMO.

It took the Philadelphia Police Commissioner all of a few minutes to publicly conclude that there was nothing wrong with the actions of this cowardly cop "Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey examined video of the arrest and felt the officer acted within department guidelines, which allow officers to use Tasers to arrest fleeing suspects, said police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore. The department's internal affairs unit is investigating, Vanore said".

Norm MacDonald and Gordon Ramsey on Conan

Anne Ramsey in Throw Momma From The Train

Stormsinger says...

Hilarious movie.

I can't imagine there was a better choice to be found than Ramsey for that role, even if you looked over the entire world. And DeVito, as always, demonstrates that he's nothing short of a genius when it comes to comedy.

Angry Guy on Hell's Kitchen Wants to Fight Part 2

djsunkid says...

sirex, I think you have to understand a little better about what it means to be a chef. The chef is ultimately responsible for every fuck up in the kitchen. A good chef respects hard, intelligent work, and absolute loyalty and respect. In return that chef will be not just your boss, but your mentor, ally, resource, teacher and friend. A good chef (and ramsey is the best) will work twice as hard as his staff, move heaven and earth to make a restaurant happen, to make GOOD food happen, and to make the customers happy.

But if you let up. If you act stupid, disrespectful, or somehow endanger the smooth operation that he has put his heart and soul into, woe be unto you. If your heart isn't in your job, if you are not honestly giving your best, a good chef will correct you. And those lessons will be harsh, and few. If you don't get it soon, you're out the door.

You need to understand, GR isn't being a prick for laughs. He's trying to create the perfection that makes him one of the best chefs in the world. He expects exceptional effort, and exceptional results. People who aren't in food service can not understand this. Obviously, mr angry guy in the video couldn't understand it either. I hope he has fun working at Denny's, or Bennigan's, or whatever other greasy spoon he goes back to.

Oh noes! Teh dramah!
I'd actually pay money to see Gordon Ramsey get his ass kicked...
WTF is an executive chef anyway?

An executive chef is the head chef essentially. At most restaurants, the exec chef is responsible not only for meal preparation, but for keeping things running smoothly, adding new dishes to the menu, and the hiring and firing of other people. He organizes and cooks and needs to be good at both.
