Actually, it was Flavor Aid, not Kool-Aid, that the Jim Jones cult used to commit mass suicide.

The people I saw interviewed mentioned the captain driving fast to get back to the docks as a positive, so my guess is there was major damage but it didn't sink. I only saw footage of the hole in the roof, but never a good shot of the interior.

Yeah, I know, I jumped subjects in the middle of the sentience and then back to it. I had a few things I was going to say, and jumbled them together, and failed to edit or proofread. I'll blame it on the fact I was running late for work. Anyhow, fixed the original now.

2. I'm fairly new to VS and I'm marrying the man who introduced me to it.
3. We're getting married tomorrow .
4. This will be my second, and final, marriage.
5. I curse. A lot. My voice tends to carry (or I'm just loud) and this sometimes causes problems...for others.
6. I'm in corporate sales.
7. I'm very good at what I do...but I hate it.
8. I am an introvert. I hide it well. Or so I'm told.
9. I am an avid reader. Anything that catches my interest, so the titles on my bookshelves sometimes baffle people.
10. I have 2 sons who I hope I'm not screwing up too much.
11. I was considered a "troubled youth" and my parents sent me to military school.
12. Then I joined the army. So I guess it worked...but really I just wanted to get away from my state.
13. 5 years later, I came back. And haven't been able to make it out of this black hole for the last 10 years.
14. I smoked for 20 years, with only a few brief periods of quitting.
15. I quit 3 days ago, for the last time.
16. 15 is probably not true. Just to keep it honest.
17. I grew up in a family rife with addiction and dysfunction.
18. We have one of the closest family units I know, now.
19. I am a "grammar nazi," but I probably overuse ... and ( ).
20. I'm a sucker for cop and crime shows.
21. This has made me believe I could probably get away with murder.
22. I would never murder anyone...but I do often contemplate it. Mostly while driving in traffic.
23. I'm seriously considering deleting this post right now, but the beer is telling me not to.

I'm Atheist for the record, I was ONCE Mormon, nearly 28 years ago! That is what shiny feels so compelled to mention.

Yes, I MAY mention it in what I write, but he ALWAYS writes this back to me and it is this that makes me SO angry, "I'm sorry, you were a Mormon, the Mormon religion is a cult, I'm sorry you belonged to a cult; you can't understand a Christian God because you belonged to a Cult, *I'll tell him an unrelated comment*, well that may have had to do with your Mormon upbringing, etc...

And it goes on and on in that type of vein and I'm sure others have had their fair share of these types of attacks to discredit them. Because, it really is to hard to go after the core facts or logic, they are so conclusive it's scary to some. So shiny has finally made me *ignore him, I will no longer hear what he has to say to me or this community as i think it's being abused. Even after what he said to me, he continued to ask ridiculous questions some of which I ALREADY ANSWERED IN MY LONG-POST! If you don't understand general and special relativity don't keep talking like you do! Read up on it and come back! There is a very good reason why changing the speed of light won't change the value of the age of the Universe... Go find out in the first place what makes the Universe the age it is, it has NOTHING to do with the speed of light, only the state of the energy of the photons we see returning to us.

If you changed the speed of light to something else like 10 ft/s/s then things of course would look awfully weird, but how a human measures "one second" is an imaginary concept, but beyond that due to relativity energy would be conserved, we would move FAR slower and we would still be literally interacting with each other at the same "framerate" we do right now. you could say that there is something special about our view of time as it is, but everything we've tested for shows time to be a imaginary concept. It all revolves around the speed of light, literally. It may be the only thing that determines how fast we are "using" time, if we were close to the speed of light stars would begin to live their lives FAR faster than normal, BUT you will always see one second as that.

So changing the speed of light is rather pointless, again I've made this case, to hopefully explain some of general and special relativity's little quandaries. Once again, light always travels the same speed in the same frame of reference (including its mediums). THIS has to do with CONSERVATION of energy, it is due to the law of thermodynamics, and you can take it farther than even this as well! People responding are coming off as ones that do not know much of what they are saying, maybe I've screwed up a sentence or two, I may admit (I didn't proofread and won't, I'm doing this fast). I hope that this is sufficient.

#shinyblurry I'm sorry I blew up, but you should NEVER use people's old life as a way to attempt to disarm them of their ability to argue. Atheism is to me "SOMETHING", AS MUCH as is the end of a pencil eraser: I've erased my belief in God and it is gone; I may be Atheist in wording BUT I'm not an atheist in any form or manner with BELIEFS, CONVICTION, POWER, HOLDINGS, JUDGMENT, or THOUGHT! IT'S a damned word! Nothing more.

Two as for being Mormon, sure I might agree with you in many respects about what it is and WHAT it isn't, but I might also agree yours IS nothing but the same. DO NOT think that this is because I'm an "Atheist" holding this against you. This is a MAN holding it against YOU! Religion has it's own shames to answer for in every color and theater.

And now I'm done.

Westy: I don't believe you could be spending a tenth the time reading as you do posting. If you did, I can't imagine you wouldn't have picked up on some basic spelling and grammar rules. If you want people to accept or pay attention to your ideas, why not put in some small effort in writing - and why post if you're not trying to convey ideas?
If you're using "its" as a contraction for "it is", you need an apostrophe: "it's".
If you're talking about something belonging to "they", then you should use "their" instead of "there".
I'm sure you can comprehend those two rules - and following just those two rules would make your posts much easier to read and likely improve your posts' reception greatly.
Moving out from there, there are a tremendous number of spelling and grammatical mistakes in your posts. Some are understandable - it's easy to confuse "reining" and "raining" and only a pedant would jump on you for that kind of error. On the flip side, it's distracting and almost incomprehensible to see "someone" spelled "sum-one". This is a very common English word. Even if you're normally reading another language or have a deep learning/reading disability, how would you have avoided something approximating a proper spelling soaking in at some point? Surely just in the process of posting to this site you would have seen this word spelled correctly thousands of times.
Again, I think the solution is either "spend a tiny amount of time reading instead of posting" or "show a modicum of respect to people reading your posts by making the tiniest effort to spell correctly". Even if your goal is trolling, I think you'll find you get better bites if you put in some effort.
PS: Yes, I'm sure I've made some spelling or grammatical errors in this post. No, I'm not going to proofread it. No, that doesn't make me a hypocrite. I don't believe posts need to be perfect; I just think some effort should be made, and I do make some effort to write reasonably.

Gr8 job there ignoring a comment and spending all your time telling sumone how to spell depsite the fact that what they write is enterly legible.

i think that quite pointedly makes you a hypocrite but i digress =)

Let me clarify my position by quoting my own comment: "I don't believe posts need to be perfect; I just think some effort should be made, and I do make some effort to write reasonably."

I wrote that specifically to clarify why I don't think I'm being a hypocrite, but I'll clarify a bit further because, as I suspected, someone is always interested in calling hypocrite on the guy who critiques spelling. I believe that my actions and words are consistent with my position above. Again: I don't think people should feel like they need to spend time proofreading posts or should feel like they need to write perfectly; I just think that it's a good thing to put some effort into basic spelling and grammar.

Maybe you disagree with that position. Maybe you think I should put more efforts into my posts. Maybe you can find a post by me that has a lot of mistakes. None of those things would make me a hypocrite; I do try to use proper spelling and grammar, and thus I am - to simplify - practicing what I preach.
